Kinesiology would be recalled as an area of study in science as it Is the study of human mechanics and movements from the human body to better understand our meaning of movement on how and why does the body move in a certain way. Rather when it is compared to the area of Philosophy, both these studies vary in different things and lead to different concepts, but both things can be intertwined to have connections to lead to a concept built by both studies together. As a person studying in the area of kinesiology we must know, what is philosophy? to dive deeper into the ideal relationship it has with scientific views in kinesiology. Philosophy can be defined as “the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence, especially …show more content…
As ideas in philosophical study aren’t as discussed within science as much, but we know today both Kinesiology and Philosophy have been studied since the dawn of time dating to the ancient Greek civilization, and with philosophy we cans see concepts relating with behavior, ideology, and aspectual views from the body and mind known as behavior dualism that can be applied to science. Kinesiology has to do a lot with the body, so why cant philosophy too. Although philosophy cant entirely be just about the body there are plenty of views and concepts it uses that it relates to the human body such as like mentioned earlier behavior dualism. Behavior dualism can be said in the simplest way as how our thoughts in our mind are always being embodied within us and how our bodies can be said to always be minded, but in a simpler way basically the mind drives the body or thinking is followed then by doing (Kretchmar). As a Kinesiology student, many kinesiologists that are practicing the art of dualism must understand the two parts that are separate, one part …show more content…
In philosophy it can assist in designing theoretical views leading to how the brain in a human functions and process of thinking. Having the capability to be able to think is one of the intriguing details of the human body in why we are able to do mostly anything in our capacity. As we can see the brain is responsible for controlling all our movements that is required in all physical activity that we do. Every movement that the body is able to do has a thorough explanation through the use philosophical aspects and scientific aspects in kinesiological study. When we use the technique of examining and observing we are using philosophy to determine the logic behind it as rather to when we learn any result from activity in a physical state we use science. This can then be applied into kinesiology to interrogate the logical reasoning within human movement to lay open theoretical aspects behind all physical movements conducted by the
Exercise science possess many traits that attracted my attention whether it dealt with the different job opportunities or the ability to help an individual. There are two areas of exercise science that one can choose as a possible career path or as a major minoring in something else related to this type of work. One of the areas of study includes exercise physiology which can be defined by “the study of how the body’s structures and functions are changed as a result of acute and chronic bouts of exercise”. Not only does exercise physiology promote a healthy lifestyle, but it is closely connected to human performance, fitness, development/aging, and prevention/rehabilitation from disease or injury. Pursuing a degree in exercise physiology allows an individual in this profession to choose between several careers including physical education, exercise science and athletic training (Fisher, 2). In addition, becoming a chiropractor can be achieved through exercise science.

Kinesiology can be defined as the study of mechanics of body movements, so I think that is very important to know the meaning of movement when studying kinesiology. Everything in kinesiology has to do with the movement. Every action the body takes is a movement which is what kinesiology is. You cannot be successful in the field of kinesiology no matter what you are doing if you do not understand what movement is. It is the study of human movement, performance, and function by applying the sciences of biomechanics, anatomy, physiology, and neuroscience. It looks at movement and which muscles are involved to create movement relating to strength exercising and sports technique. Movement is an act of changing physical location or position or of
Applied kinesiology is the scientific study of muscular movement, physical activities and the anatomy, physiology, and mechanics of the movement of body parts. Kinesiology was first created by the American/Italian chiropractor Anthony Gil in Milano, Italy. This relatively new study has many different branches of specialized studies. Many similar goals of kinesiology are to: restore normal nerve functions, have...
Physical therapy and kinesiology work in a close relationship to each other. Essentially one may think they are one in the same, however there are small differences between the two that provide different results when applied singularly. As a combined effort physical therapy and kinesiology work to heal the muscles and joints of the body, recreating movements perfectly as they were before injury or in some cases as closely as one can get to a perfect function. First one must understand where the lone is drawn between the two fields and how they balance each other to create desirable results in a patient.
Every part of our body is a science. I never imagined the hidden science in the movements of the body. The science of kinesiology is the science of body movements. I grew up watching my grandma and the changes in her body as both of us got older, I could walk and balance properly while she lost it. I always felt bad when she was not able to get up and walk properly and as caring grandson I always gave her my hand.
My understanding of kinesiology prior to enrolling in the course, is that I knew kinesiology is the scientific study of human movement , and that it involved sports and exercise and physical activity.I 'm interested in kinesiology , because I love anything that has to do with sports, and to get more of a detailed report on how human movement plays such a big role in the sports world.I have played sports for most of my life my interests our football, basketball, baseball.I started football my eighth grade year, and continued to play threw high school, until I tore my meniscus and mcl so I skipped my junior year of football , and came back my senior year had a really great season started at right offensive tackle.Missing my junior year in football really took a toll on me ,I could have gained so much more experience playing if so. I 've played basketball probably since the third grade , and continued to play threw high school even threw my knee injury ,I played travel basketball as well a
Bourdieu further argues that practices involve “a logic made to dispense with concepts”(1977, 116) but should not be described as logical processes. It is, instead of abstract logic, but body movements and actual practice should be analyzed with an investigation on the connection between body movements and classificatory system. The “language of the body”, according to Bourdieu, is more ambiguous to be analyzed than linguistic schemes(1977, 120).
I believe that Philosophy is the study of different ways of thinking. In philosophy, you should question everything and never take anything for face value. There are always two sides to every coin as there are different ways of looking at things, is what philosophy teaches us. In philosophy, you must throw off all the limitations you have set on yourself when dealing with how you view things and how things seem to be.
Watkins, James. An Introduction to Mechanics of Human Movement. MTP Press Limited. Lancaster, England. 1983.
Philosophy is the study of examining and thinking about questionable ethical problems and/or generally accepted certainties. Philosophy aims at knowledge that combines a variety of academic fields as well as convictions, prejudices and beliefs.
While the great philosophical distinction between mind and body in western thought can be traced to the Greeks, it is to the influential work of René Descartes, French mathematician, philosopher, and physiologist, that we owe the first systematic account of the mind/body relationship. As the 19th century progressed, the problem of the relationship of mind to brain became ever more pressing.
The word “philosophy” is derived from two roots that are “philo” and “Sophia.” Philo means love whereas Sophia means wisdom. Therefore, philosophy means the love of wisdom. In actual practice, philosophy entails study of, pursuit, and enquiry into wisdom. A good number of great philosophers have referred to philosophy as the art of thinking. Others have only defined it as the systematic study of human feelings and thoughts.
On the dualism side of the contention, psychophysical parallelism and psychophysical interactionism have been propelled as clarifications for the workings of psyche and body. Parallelism has it that phrenic and physical occasions are free of each one in turn however transpire concurrently. Logicians, for example, Leibnitz, for instance, held that the exercises of the psyche and body were decided, and that both essentially ran their course in a deliberately arranged, synchroni...
When I think of philosophy I think back to my personal beliefs and experiences. Philosophy for me is a term that goes beyond choosing what's right from wrong, philosophy goes deeper that a decision. Philosophy for me is the roots of my being and what determines the way I live my everyday life. Philosophy refers back to the codes I count on to help me handle situations better and find the right path that will bring me happiness within myself.
