Being a manager takes a great deal of hard work, dedication, and persistence. In order to achieve the goal of becoming a CEO, necessary skills of a manager must be developed and then achieve the skills and confidence to succeed. Since managers are leaders, leadership skills and cross-functional leadership skills must be developed. Many corporations emphasize the importance of leadership potential and initiative, as well as problem solving and technical skills. The management training regiment should provide a plan of action to strategize and grasp all the necessary skills in a short time to fulfill the goal of becoming a CEO.
First and foremost, managers must identify weaknesses, polish up strengths, and learn new ideas and concepts that will improve their leadership qualities. Developing leadership qualities includes perfecting a key set of management skills; conceptual skills, interpersonal skills, technical skills, and political skills. It is important to use interpersonal skills to work with management team members in the program and to listen to ideas and opinions. Without strong interpersonal skills, then it is not possible to be a successful manager.
The manager would develop conceptual skills that a CEO would encompass to have the vision and determination through the logical thinking process. Also, learning how other people think and accepting the differences that exist would assist in managing them. In order to be a good leader, one must have self-confidence, communication skills, charisma and integrity. These are the fundamental skills that make a good leader. Self-confidence is the attitude that one possesses in which one is not afraid to make decisions based on their ideas. Communication skills allow a leader to convey his or her ideas or thoughts carefully. Charisma is what makes a leader appealing to the public, and integrity is what allows the public to trust and have faith in the leader. Without these skills, a leader would just be mediocre, and not great.
I expect to learn leadership and how manager and members are supposed to react to the decision in the leadership process. I want to know how an employee is supposed to move up in the company using leadership methods. The strategy is what I would like to learn so I can apply my new career in a manner that would get me to the top level as a Business Administrator in a company.
