Social is relating to society or organization. Responsibility is a duty or something one has to do or take care of. Social responsibility is about volunteering and being ethical.
Volunteering does not only help the community it benefits the person that is volunteering as well. As stated in the article”Making a Difference: How to become and Remain Active in Your community- A Guide to Volunteering” it states that Volunteering helps with learning new skills, it make one’s resume stronger, a chance to meet new people to meet new people, it builds self-esteem, and so much more. This is important especially to teens and young adults. In the article “Social Responsibility” it states “It is equally important

that the adolescent knows their contributions are important.” Which means one should let young adults know that they are making a difference in their community. Letting teens know that they are important part of their community makes them feel like they can make a real impact and it makes them feel that their experiences are meaningful and by helping out after school, after school jobs, sports teams, volunteering, etc. It helps them identify and define social responsibility in american society.
Ethics are moral principles that govern a person’s behavior or the conducting activity. In the article “Social Responsibility and Ethics” it states that “Social responsibility is an ethical theory , in which individuals are accountable for fulfilling their civic duty; the action of an individual must benefit the whole society.” Which means that people should do the right thing that is expected of them, and that thing should benefit the whole community. People who do the more ethical thing are more trusted and respected. Not only people need to be ethical, as stated in the article “Social Responsibility”, “Businesses have developed a system of social responsibility that is tailored to their company environment” which means that businesses made an ethics system that fits with their own company. Businesses need laws of ethics so the company know how to treat the employees and the employees know how to treat their consumers and maybe the products they are handling.
Some people might think that volunteering and ethics are unnecessary to be social responsible and that paying taxes are enough, but it’s not enough you need to do so much more to better the community and to become socially responsible in American society
