The Benefits of Volunteering
I. Our community needs volunteers like you to get involved to help others; it has a huge impact on the health and well-being of our communities. It is a crucial element to the success of your communities. Imagine the effects if we had no one to volunteer.
II. Volunteering is very rewarding, the benefits are limitless, and it brings fulfillment to your life. This is a selfless act, getting involved and making a difference in your community or someone else’s life.
III. I have volunteered for different nonprofit organizations in the past 9 years. One of these included helping Habitat for Humanity build houses, which I have to say was very rewarding for me. Watching the organizers of this event hand over the keys to a young lady and her children was an amazing feeling for me.
IV. I hope to persuade you to volunteer some of your time to something you’re passionate about. I would like to help you get started by determining the right match for you. How you can get involved in your community and the benefits and rewards of volunteering.
Transition: First, to get started you want to ask yourself is there something that I am truly passionate about or even interested in.
I. There are a few questions to determine the right match for you prior to making a commitment.
A. According to the Help guide. Org website we all have busy schedules and volunteering does take time. How much time do you have to commit? Any amount of time is better than no time at all.
1. Do you have a special skill that you would like to contribute to a project? I have to say that this is not a requirement to volunteer. If you can read, you can volunteer.
2. Are you a team player or do you prefer to work alone? Either way...

...tional skills and public speaking. You can utilize these skills in your current role at work or later on in life.
I. So what do you think? Are you ready to go out and determine which organization you would like to contribute your time to? Our community is in dire need of more volunteers like you. Without volunteers we would not have the funds needed for research to find cures for diseases, deliver meals to seniors that are homebound or homes built for families, the needs are endless in our communities.
II. Volunteering has a special benefit called “Happiness” something just comes over you that makes you feel good all over. I have to say that I am very passionate about volunteering, for me there is not a better feeling in the world. Helping others is a blessing to them and for me. With all this information available to you, why wouldn’t you want to volunteer?
volunteering is a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task. In this report i will talk about the different types of volunteering in the:
...e school, such as; Pelotonia, Light the Night for leukemia and lymphoma, Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities, etc… For many of these organizations I have volunteered more than once. Volunteering at Light the Night has a story. For my 16th Birthday party, I wanted to have my friends and I volunteer in the day while having fun at night. So I had 7 boys and girls, along with me, volunteer for Light the Night, organized by me. The party was a huge success and a lot of fun. I look forward to organizing more volunteer opportunities for my friends and I.
Why I want to volunteer I am directionless. Lost in a sea of people; people who all seem to know what they want to do with their lives. Volunteering can help me find a direction, a path that I want to be on. Assisting patients and workers provides more information on working in a hospital than any course or the internet can provide.
...at homeowners (Rubel 123). Quite often Habitat homeowners will give back to the Habitat for Humanity organization by volunteering to help out with other Habitat projects. They also get a feeling that they are making progress in life and that they are progressing toward a desired goal. It tends to bring them Happiness (Theology of the Hammer 250). Frank Stell Jr., a volunteer stated, “I have met a number of people who have become some of my closest friends, and they have made an impact on my life that I will cherish always” (More than Houses 179).
It helps a person make new friends and it is good for increasing the number of people one can fall back to when they need someone to listen to their problems. It is also helpful with building one’s social and relationship skills. “[Volunteer service] gives [a person] the opportunity to practice and develop social skills” (Saisan and Smith). Another benefit is that it is good for one’s physical and mental well-being. “Volunteering can provide a healthy boost to your self-confidence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction.”
While working at esteemed organizations, such as the American Red Cross and Rosie’s Place, I learned volunteering could be more than just medical or dental services. Serving food or working in a pantry is not only a great way to give back to the community, but also helps build a relationship with the
I saw in Egypt a city full of dirt and debris cleaning itself up; a city whose citizens became full of pride to say that they are from Alexandria and a city that is changing. Through volunteerism change is happening around the world, from the Middle East and Eastern Europe to Massachusetts. Through volunteerism a community is strengthening and pride is growing. That is the true impact of volunteerism. I started volunteering nine years ago and I was doing so without considering its impact and accepting what people told me. It wasn’t until five months ago that I got to witness and realize the impact of volunteering. It took me eight years and seven months to discover that the impact of volunteerism is more than what I was told. It took me eight years and seven months to understand that volunteerism impacts
I researched a number of nonprofit charities in my area and found one with which I felt connected to the vision and mission of the organization. Although it was more than an hour away, I settled on a food bank that had a wide range of initiatives which were making a significant impact on the local community. Having selected my nonprofit, I was ready to get started. After going to the organizations website, I found that I had to schedule my time online. Unfortunately, all of the time slots for the days of the week that I could volunteer were all taken. I had invested my time in finding the right nonprofit for whom I would like to provide service hours and yet the opportunities to serve were few and far between. After a bit more research, I was able to volunteer for the Home and School Association for Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, as well as donated time with The Lutheran Church – Missouri
Volunteering is an important contributor to our society. It is also a great opportunity to learn different skills, especially young people, and they will become a part of who you are. Your future employers will thank you for it, as will any college or university that you decide to apply too. It is also a perfect way for everyone to meet different people and experience different things. Volunteering not only actively will help people; it also helps the environment. Most of all, it allows you to become a better person for what you have
Volunteering enables an individual to make a positive impact on his or her community, while empowering the individual to better his or her life. This summer, I had the opportunity to volunteer at many diverse locations. From the hospital to the local library, I truly value my experience and treasure everything it has thought me. Volunteering lets us experience and learn things that we otherwise would not have learned; volunteering opens doors for us that we may not have been able to open before. Volunteering provides us with guidance and tolerance which we may use in the future to aid us in our decisions. At first glance, volunteering may seem to only benefit those who are helped, but on a deeper level, one can realize that volunteering benefits the volunteer as much as, if not more than, those who are helped. Not only does volunteering make a difference in one’s community, but it also helps the volunteer become a smarter, happier, friendlier and more caring individual.
I really enjoyed volunteering at a soup kitchen offering a bit of my time to serve those that are at a down point of their live. However, it is unlikely I will continue the service after I met the 12-hour requirement. The location is simply too far away, and the gas is just not worth it, however, I would seek other volunteer organizations in the future in my area.
Volunteering in your local community is great way to give back and set a positive example at the same time. Let’s take a look at some of the problems in our community that affect many people.
A reflection of my volunteering experience can be summarized in two words: Life-changing. It is hard to explain the feelings that occur when you involve yourself in selfless acts for your community, such as volunteering. There is a feeling in your heart that you cannot ignore, maybe it is the happiness you feel or the overflow of emotions in helping others. In other words, it is a feeling in which you want to share with others. Maybe with a friend, maybe a classmate, maybe a family member, or maybe even a stranger. Either way, spreading how life-changing volunteering can be is a great start to making a positive change in your community by simply by involving others.
Volunteering benefits a person by building connections with peers, improving family life, expanding career skills, overcoming self doubt, having lasting life impressions, and creating new opportunities. Just a small act can make a huge difference in someone’s life. The future is dependent on the individual person and the people they surround themselves with. Just a few hours will change both the volunteer’s life and the one that is in need.
I also had the privilege of helping with the Meals on Wheels non profit organization. My grandfather used to be a Meals on Wheels recipient and he would share with me how he enjoyed looking forward to their company and a hot meal daily. I volunteered because I wanted to give back and help someone else’s loved one in the same way. It was very rewarding delivering hot meals to people who didn’t have the means of getting one as well as being there for them to talk to. Overall, it was a very humbling experience, it made me realize just how blessed I am and how much I take for granted daily.
