My role model that I look up to and admire is Kanye West. He is a hip-hop artist whose works are timeless. Some of his songs were made in the early 2000s and don’t sound old decades later when a lot of new trends and cultures developed from the early 2000s to now. What I admire about him is that he is confident about himself and the things he does. I always wanted to be confident like him about myself. His interviews and quotes always motivated me and kept me going. He was like a caffeine in my life. My role model is Kanye West. I admire his confidence and belief in himself. Kanye West started his rap career even though people around him told him not to because he was already successful at producing music beats and his rap career could ruin …show more content…
This is the first thing that I admire about Kanye West. He wants to do what he has his mind on and pursue it until he is successful. His rap debut album peaked in 2nd place in Billboard Hot 200 which was a great success. Kanye West is known for talking about controversial subjects on TV shows and interviews. He is someone who likes to speak his mind and does not care about how other people view and think about them. Even though I don’t agree with what he says the most, I still admire that he dares to say things that he thinks are right. If I were him, I couldn’t have said any of that, not because some of them are wrong, but because I’m not confident enough and care about other peoples’ opinions. He is sure of what is in his mind and shares it without hesitating. The last reason why Kanye West is my role model is how he tries new things and leads other people into it. Many people agree that Kanye West has led the whole music industry into new genres of music and produced various new artists that lead the music industry these days. Rap and hip hop music was something that used to be about violence and gang
I was twelve when I first heard the name “Kanye West”. He was featured in a song I rather liked at the time called “Forever” and whilst discussing the song with my friend one afternoon I remarked:
Kanye Omari West, rapper, producer, professional celebrity, and with an ego to match, has forced himself into the limelight of the music industry. Kanye West has made a lasting impression on all of those around him, whether it be a good one or bad. With seven full length albums, a multimillion record label company, and a successful fashion business all under his belt, it’s fair to say that Kanye has done his fair share of creating. Over the last twelve years Kanye went from a young Chicago kid just trying to get his flows off, to one of the most decorated musicians of all time. With over 20 Grammy’s and 3 of his albums ending up on the Rolling stones “500 greatest albums of all time”. He has continuously created, entertained, and spoken his mind for years. Whether it be “George Bush does not care about black people” or “Taylor imma let you finish, but Beyoncé had
Rap music has given me personally something to look up to. Not a role model but hope of continuing my dreams because rappers successfully made it. “For what’s money without happiness, or hard times without the people you love” is from a song called “Love Yourz” by J. Cole. He clearly understands how there is “beauty in the struggle and ugliness in the success” because he’s lived that life. Other songs such as “2Face” or “The Autograph” were instantly relatable to me because he has been through several struggles from the beginning of his childhood. Cole’s father left when he was six leaving his mother and younger brother alone. Cole became “the man of the house” but becoming a rapper is not as easy as it seems. Cole’s messages in these two songs are relative because I too, have had several issues with my mother and father creating a sense of lonesome. Hearing music like Coles helped me overcome my
Throughout America’s history there have been countless influential leaders that have proudly been American. Those have held positions of politicians, soldiers, and . Kanye Omari West has opened the eyes of today's generation and still continues to shape American history. His musical influence has transformed the lives of countless people. Inspiring many to stand up and fight for what they believe in is something Kanye West continues to do even today.. Also, opening the eyes of many to racial injustice towards African American citizens. I’ll further elaborate my claim in the following paragraphs using historical evidence.
“Kanye Ran onto the stage saying, ‘I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!’” (Top 10 Outrageous Kanye West Moments), says Kanye West at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards after Taylor Swift had just won “Best Female Video.” People that are like this have typically not always been this way. They were probably raised as a polite and respectful person before they were exposed to fame and fortune, and other “celebrities,” making them feel like they are the only people on the planet. Causing them to do things like that. Although, Kanye West is an amazing musician based on his 14 Grammy Awards and multiple albums going “Double-Platinum” (Manheim, James M., and Carol Brennan). He fell victim to fame and fortune, and turned into an arrogant and overconfident person making him more popular and praised among media. But looked down upon by everyday people. Kanye Omari West, born on June 8th, 1977, is a world famous rapper who, like all other celebrities, started out like a nice person who made nice music for nice families to listen to. West was a confident and competitive person even as a child, “He was determined even then to get out of his crib and be free, even if he split his head in the process—and he did. He has fought ever since to do exactly what he wanted to do—no matter what,” says Donda West, his mother in her book, Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip-Hop Superstar. By the time West was ten, he was already creating his own raps, and according to the people around him, he was pretty good at it even at that young of an age. (Manheim, James M., and Carol Brennan) West was not too interested in school as he grew up, but he was able to get by because of his talent. If he dropped out of one ...
Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1958, in Gary Indiana. His parents were Katherine Jackson, and Joseph Jackson. Michael had 8 siblings, who all loved music. His mother stayed at home and took care of the household, while his father was a guitarist and crane operator. Katherine taught the children folk and religious songs daily. He grew up around music and learned many things from his brothers and father. Joseph Jackson thought that his sons were very talented; therefore, he helped shape them into a music group known as the “Jackson 5.” Starting out, it was just Michael’s older brothers, Tito, Jermaine, Jackie and Marlon. When Michael turned 5, he became the lead vocalist of the group. The group was very successful and became popular quickly. As a child, Michael was
Tupac Shakur Tupac Amaru Shakur was born in the East Harlem section of Manhattan in New York City. His birth name was Lesane Parish Crooks, June 16, 1971. Both of his parents were members of the Black Panther Party. Tupac Shakur was a vocal participant during the East Coast and West Coast hip hop rivalry. One is tempted to attribute West’s immense success to great talent, and perhaps a love affair with luck. However let us not underestimate the power of a strong and steady self-esteem. Google defines self esteem as confidence in one’s own worth and abilities or self - respect. As we have seen Kanye West is never doubtful of his abilities as well as his opinions and the respect he
Everybody says who they are and what they are but that’s just being there self and telling others that you are who you are. Kanye West the most influential rapper thinks he is a “god” or tries to connect himself into god. He said he doesn’t have any explanation on it but he said that he is “the number one rapper on this planet” and everybody should respect him. West is also an artist/fashion designer, which he have struggled a lot, he compares himself to Michael Jackson by saying his struggle to break into fashion is like when Michael Jackson was fighting to get his videos on MTV , and he wants to change the whole system of fashion and be the major fashion designer. Kanye likes his music and his overall work to define who he is and how his work influences others.
Kanye Omari West, an icon of hip-hop, pop culture, fashion and music in general. Kanye Omari West, a person belittled against and a person subjected to a life of racism and hate. Born on June 8th, 1977, Donda West, West’s mother, always knew he was destined for greatness, but did she know her son would turn out to be the Kanye West, a man lacking the respect he deserves for transforming a big part of the music we listen to on this very day? West came onto the scene in the late nineties but didn’t release The College Dropout until 2004, an album that took everybody by surprise. Kanye West changed the gangster filled rap genre by releasing his positive, soulful debut album, changing the way rappers dress, and paving the way for a whole new style of introspective lyrics and soul-inspired rap production in the mainstream.
Young Carter swung his way into rap at a youthful age as a departure from the drugs, savagery and destitution that encompassed him in the Marcy Projects. Jay wanted to better himself and did that by getting out of what is known as the “corner life lifestyle.” Be that as it may, despite the fact that he had a stage name, Jay Z remained generally unknown until he and two companions, Damon Dash and Kareem Burke, established their own particular record name, Roc-a-Fella Records, in 1996 (Rubin, 2015). In 1989, he joined the rapper Jaz-O—a more seasoned entertainer who served sort of like a mentor that guided to record a song called "The Originators," which won the pair an appearance on a scene of Yo! MTV Raps. It was right when Shawn Carter grasped the nickname Jay Z, which was at the same time a tribute to Jaz-O, a play on Carter's adolescence nickname of "Jazzy" and a reference to the J/Z tram station close to his Brooklyn home (Caramanica, 2012).
“Drugs are a waste of time. They destroy your memory and your self-respect and everything that goes along with your self esteem” Kurt Cobain. Kurt Cobain is an American musician best known as the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter of the rock band Nirvana. The estimated cost of drug abuse exceeds $190 billion. Children all around the world are having to adjust their life around their parents drug usage. More needs to be done to help kids who have drug abusing parents.
Lebron is a positive role model because of how he voices his opinions on social issues. Lebron feels a need to voice his opinions on social issues to show people it is not bad to speak your mind no matter if it is accepted or not. Such as when Lebron wore a “I Can’t Breathe” t-shirt during warmups (Scott). During the 2014 year a man named Eric Garner was choked to death by a police officer. LeBron being the kind of person responded not in words but in action. He along with other wore these T-Shirts to speak against police brutality. Another time Lebron made his opinions known was when he and other spoke out against the racial injustice that exists today (Grossman). He put on a speech on national television. It was not to berate anyone or group but was to inspire change in relations between people and law enforcement. He made it known that Black were target of this kind of crimes more than whites and brought that knowledge to the public stage. It was
