It's junior year. There’s no sponsor, no class, and no council. In tenth grade we didn’t elect new officers for junior year, so as a former officer of student council I took on this responsibility in creating Junior Council. This new experienced helped me understand what it is like to be a leader and to seek out help from others, such as my fellow peers outside of my social group. I needed to start from scratch, but this time it would be different. When going from ninth grade to tenth grade we already had a sponsor set for us, so the search for a sponsor of Junior council was difficult. Most of the teachers were involved with other activities and the others didn’t have much experience so were less inclined to take on the position because major decisions involving senior activities will be made such as Senior Dinner and Prom. With the help of my fellow classmates we were able to find a sponsor for the fall semester. The next step was then to create a constitution to make Junior Council official and encourage students to get involved. Since we found our sponsor late, we weren’t able to sign up for club rush and have a booth. However, this didn’t discourage me because even though I didn’t have a …show more content…
We still haven’t elected our officers so I continued to lead the club by presenting the meetings and taking charge of homecoming and spirit week. I acted as the spokesperson of the group and the person who tried to get the members involved in presenting ideas. I wanted to make sure that my fellow peers were welcome since Junior Council is a club welcomed to any Junior who wanted to make an impact. So when choosing our homecoming theme, we all had a vote. Even though about ten students helped in creating the decorations including myself I still tried to work with my fellow peers in trying to get them involved to help
As the lights flashed and the representatives walked down the red carpet the audience was awed by the sweet smiles and mature beauty that radiated off the couples. They respectfully encapsulated the love and Christian faith of our school as they all clapped for our homecoming king and queen. There surely was a reason they were voted representatives for they showcased sweet attitudes all night long, smiling, hugging, and enduring long periods of picture taking and never complaining. After the red carpet showing of our homecoming court everyone enjoyed delicious fruit punch and a couple slices of the cake all while talking and simply enjoying the beautiful decorations and hollywood themed atmosphere. When the mood shifted and Winter Formal began
“Do I have to go? I mean, it’s not required for me to finish high school or anything. It’s just something you want me to do,” I pleaded with my parents. “Yes you have to go and there’s no way you’re going to get out of it either. It’ll be a good experience for you, and you might even make some new friends,” my father replied. Tomorrow I was going to HOBY, which stands for Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar. It is specifically for sophomores in high school and I was chosen to be one of the candidates to represent my school for the year twenty fifteen. There are many HOBYs around the United States, but I was going to HOBY Ohio West located at the Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio. The seminar started on June fourth and concluded on the seventh. This was a four day event and I wouldn’t see my family for two of the days. I had just turned sixteen in April and I had never stayed more than an hour away from my family for a night or two. It was very nerve-wracking for me, but I had to go no matter what. Little did I know that this experience would make me into the more confident young woman I am today.
As a student at Northvale Public School, I have grown up with my older siblings being inducted into an organization called the National Junior Honor Society. I had seen all the hard work and dedication they put into their school work and activities just to get into this society, making me want to be just like them. Then a few weeks ago, I found a note on my desk in homeroom telling me that I had been nominated to be apart of this society. Through citizenship and character, leadership, and service, I intend on being inducted into the society I have heard so much about. Though it will take a lot of effort this school year, being a part of this society is a dream of mine that I will make sure to come true.
I was very excited when I heard that I had been invited into National Junior Honors Society. The first time I heard of NJHS, it instantly became a goal of mine. When my older sister left for college I was very sad, so I think that this is a way for me to keep a part of her. I have always been that little girl no one understood, because I’m always very excited to learn and get back to school after summer break. I’m very happy to see that I’ve been invited, but this is why I should be accepted.
“Who’s going to step up?”. “Who’s going to change this?”. People ask these questions everyday. I realize that I have never truly thought about the defining characteristics of a leader. I was given a list of qualities and upon reading it, I proudly realized that I demonstrate leadership. But the important consideration should not be how I successfully match this definition, but instead why I do it. I was elected treasurer for the class of 2016, a student body elected official, and hold that position of responsibility by attending meetings weekly, promoting school activities (such as homecoming), and participating in student council planning and events as much as possible. I wanted to become treasurer because I wanted a say in decisions that impacted our class. I wanted to be recognized as an individual that my peers could come to with questions and concerns.
1. During my membership with Junior League, I wish to acquire the skills needed to plan, organize and prioritize work for a variety of events and socials. I wish to enjoy my time networking and meeting other successful women within the Tampa community. By becoming a member of Junior League, I have an opportunity to develop myself further and build friendships through a supportive environment while making a positive impact on the community. I hope to inspire women to do what is right, guide them, and monitor their progress along the way. A future position in Junior League I could take on would be a provisional mentor to fulfill this hope of inspiring and guiding women. I would like to receive the skills and training to become a more effective community leader. I want to donate my time in the most effective way possible and I believe Junior League can offer me that. Through Junior League, I believe I can succeed in gaining these skills and experiences I wish to acquire.
National Junior Honor Society as a nation premier organization started to recognize outstanding middle-level students. NJHS is a way to honor students who have demonstrated an extraordinary amount of excellence in the areas of the five pillars which are, scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. This organization that was started in 1929 is a great opportunity for me to show my family and teachers how hard I work to get this far. I am deeply honored to be among the exemplary student who are being considered for this program. This organization the so many great things in society, and knowing that I could potentially be a part of it and play a part in futuring the impression that the organization has already made. I am a determined student, and will do anything to do my absolute best even when something hard is thrown my way. I have always hoped to be a part of something big like National Junior Honor Society, and I hope that this will be my chance to be a part of something big. In my essay I have provided several reasons why you should consider me being on National Junior Honors Society.
Throughout everyday tasks in the classroom, or outside of school, I step up and lead those who need to be led. I constantly find new opportunities to lead others and help the situation any way I can. Every summer the band has a marching band camp for a week straight that we must all attend. Being an experienced band member, I step up and assist all underclassmen and show then where to go and what they need to be doing. Instead of getting frustrated when giving the freshman directions, I am calm and collect and walk them step by step until they understand, something most leaders would not have time or patience for. With many plans to help others and lead within my community, I believe that I have what it takes to be a strong, and powerful leader for the National Honor Society.
I believe that I have satisfied my obligations as an adolescent . I have demonstrated my quality as a leader through my diligent work and devotion and have shown incredible abilities in the society , to be acknowledged into NJHS. National Junior Honor Society is a great opportunity for me to expand my knowledge. I would love to be required in National Junior Honor Society and share thoughts, tune into others thoughts about fundraisers and collecting donations.
As Shanna-Kay’s supervisor, I have seen her work with a talented group of students in way that inspires and encourages, but also challenges them to think about how they can be their best and serve the community in the most positive way. Throughout the year, she sought advice on how to best meet the needs of these students, how to empower them, and generally how to support them in their attempt to be present and a part of a community that always needs the presence of a hall council wanting to grow the
As a student at Ridgeway Middle School, I understand that my academic performance and achievement are the results of my hard work and dedication, which led to the opportunity of me becoming a leader and member of the National Junior Honor Society. By obtaining a GPA of 3.6 and higher, I strongly believe that I have met expectations and requirements to honorably become a member of the National Junior Honor Society. Additionally, I have participated in many competitions, let alone studying and school commitment.
Unlike most students that are leaders in title she was a leader of the people. For the four years that she attended the Class of 2018 club it was always the same; a room filled with arguing students that wait until the last minute to do work and every person contributed to the chaos. Her friend Micala became an officer in the club, leading the poster committee but she already saw the stress that would come with the position. The poster was the most important part of the Homecoming parade as it takes the place of floats and is what other committees revolve around.
It was almost the end of eighth grade. The sun was out longer and the general joy of school about to end was in the air. Tests were over, most everything was over for the year. That was except for National Junior Honor Society inductions. NJHS is a program where kids with a good academic record come together to do various projects for our school. We were inducting new members into the program. It was a formal event with a solemn mood. For me, that event would have been mostly uneventful. We would just pass on lit candles to the new sixth and seventh graders. The officers, who were elected at the beginning of the year, would make speeches, but luckily, I wasn't one of them.
I applied to become the President of one of our school's club, FCCLA (Family, Career, Community, Leaders of America) and I ended up being the co-President with another fellow student. FCCLA has a popular community service event called, Taste of Chelan Restaurant Walk. The objective of the event is to help local business in our small town promote their restaurant and one of their dishes for tourists who come in for this event and locals who participate. I have done this event for about three years now, every time I participate I end up meeting different types of people. This event helps our community by prompting business during the slower times like Fall and Winter, and I am a proud active member of FCCLA that has helped this event.
Besides academics, fine arts and sports in school, I have attained leading roles in different groups. This year, I am the Spirit Leader of Student Council encouraging monthly goals and themes and assisting in school events. From creating a student council with a group of peers three years ago we have had success in many events and have found new ways to spread spirit, gather important information and assist with financial groups. Recently, I stepped up to be the leader of the fundraising committee for our ...
