When we were told that we were going to have to participate in Junior Achievement I didn’t know what to expect even though I did have Junior Achievement while I was in grammar school. I didn’t know what to expect being on the other side of it actually teaching the students and not being the student since I’m use to always being the student and not the teacher because that’s basically what we were told that we were going to be teacher for the day. My group was told that we were going to have 7th graders and that kind of made me nervous because in 7th have their own opinions already and sometimes an attitude and I just thought they might not be a fan of my group or of the junior achievement program so I was kind of wishing I had a younger grade. I’m also a shy person so I was nervous going into and knowing I would have to be speaking to 28 7th graders and their teacher who does this for a living. …show more content…
The 7th grade class was awesome and totally exceeded my expectations. They were social, well behaved, participated, and were genuinely interested in what we had to say and interested in us and what we had planned for our own future. I have to say that this wasn’t what I was expecting at all. This was a great experience and I’m so happy that we had to participate in this program because I learned so much about the students and what they wanted to do in their future from where they want to attend high school, college, and what they want their future career to be and I hope they all come true for them. I hope they learned so things from my group too that will help them with their future
Good morning teachers, faculty, administrators, family, friends, and of course students. It is a great privilege to be standing here today and representing our class on our eighth grade Class Day. Can you believe it? Four years ago, most of us walked into this school as nervous as we were the first day of school. We were the tiny fifth graders, the youngest students in this middle school, not knowing where anything was and how to navigate the school. Now, those same four years later, we’re leaving this school behind to a whole new school being just as nervous as we were when we first arrived. It has been a long four years as well as a short four years. Long because of all the tests, quizzes, finals, and projects, but short because of the lifelong friendships, the lasting memories, and the truly interesting and amazing things we learned in-between. The Abington Heights Middle School is definitely a welcoming, fun, memorable, and great school that I will never forget. These four years spent with these wonderful classmates has been an extraordinary journey with many cherishable memories.
Before my first day of my special education placement, I was nervous because my students were seventh and eighth graders. This was huge difference coming from kindergarten general education. I did not what to expect other than I knew I was going to have a lot of students with specials
Middle childhood, is a very exciting time for young children from the ages of seven to twelve years old. It’s known as the school years and new social and cognitive traits are being learned at home and at school. Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theory found this to be the latentcy period in which no much happens. He described this because children at this age sexual and aggressive urges are repressed ("Stages of Growth Development," 1898-1987). This paper will also discuss the changes from middle childhood to adolescence, the affects of parents and peers and the affects they have on developing children.
Overall, my first year in high school was very enjoyable. I was able to forge many friendships that I still hold today. However, I lacked social confidence and never ventured out of my small group of friends. Indeed, many of my classmates didn’t even know about my existence until grade ten. However, Kwantlen Park Secondary has fabricated me into the person I am today. I’ve learned to be confident and bold, yet grounded and wholesome. I’ve gained valuable life experiences and wonderful friendships. I entered secondary school hoping for it to end, but I’m sure glad I’ve had such an extraordinary
I was glad and relieved that everyone had a good time. Every student that I helped did what I asked of them and they all tried to listen to the best of their ability. I tried my best to have as much fun as they were. There was not one moment that I did not see someone smiling. Everyone was always happy and never they never gave up in doing what they do best: having fun.
The community component of the self-care was fantastic and effective. The classmates turned out in doing something every week to promote a positive atmosphere by showing a positive attitude to another member, sharing foods, drinks, music, simple self-care that can be used daily and so on. Also, people remind each other of assignment due dates, events coming up and thanks to Susan for the splendid work she did on compiling all assignments due dates and shared it with us, saving the time of looking for what is due all over the D2L and be able to plan. It was helpful for me this semester.
Young adolescents can be described as ages 10-15 years old, but it is also considered that adolescence continues until the age of 25. During this time in an adolescent’s life there are many internal and external factors that affect the development of each individual. The influence that an adolescent’s peers, parents, and community have on them can be conflicting and therefore cause stress. Trying to meet the expectations of others during a time where one is going through so many forms of physical, psychological, and cognitive development can be trying for a middle school aged student. They are expected to focus on their education and the expectation of other outside influences while their bodies are growing and developing into an adult body. When development happens differently for these kids it can affect their psychological development if they focus too much on how fast, or slow they are developing in comparison to their peers. Some adolescents may let their peers influence their behaviors creating a problem with how they interact with others, or how they view themselves as a person. The middle school is a place where students are guided through these developmental experiences with the help of their peers, teachers, administrators, parents and community.
While I was nervous at first, the students warmed up to me and I felt comfortable. Going to a classroom every day is something I look forward to, and this experience put that into perspective a little more. I know teaching is just as challenging as rewarding, and I’m ready to take that on. I learned several classroom tips from my cooperating teacher. He was knowledgeable about the subjects, and I was able to take away ideas. These ideas, and tips will be used in my classroom. As for MoSEP standards, I consider my strengths; Standard #2 Student Learning, Growth and Development, Standard #5 Positive Classroom Environment, Standard #6 Effective Communication, and Standard #8 Professionalism. I figured these as my strengths, because they are what I focused on while in the classroom. I think these standards are important to students’ learning, and they are something that I didn’t have trouble accomplishing. While I learned a tremendous amount of knowledge through this experience, I still have a lot to learn. I need improvement in lesson planning. Lesson planning is a big portion of teaching, and it’s something that you’ll never stop doing. I also need to learn how to deal with parents. Doing Junior Achievement I didn’t have to interact with parents, so that’s something that I’ll need to come in contact with at some point. I would like to improve in teaching techniques. I would like to grow in
Through these fun and challenging times each one of us has built strong relationships. Whether it was with friends or a teacher, we have developed connections and memories that will be with us forever, even if we lose contact with those individuals. Some students have discovered they have a passion for writing through a creative writing class or want to have a career in business from taking Mr. Ide’s inspirational marketing classes. Others have participated in CLIP or summer school to catch up and make it possible for them to be here today. I went to Heights Elementary and have spent the last 12 years with the same group of people. Attending school with the people I’ve known since elementary and middle school, and making homecoming posters with them for four years in a row, has given me a chance to get to know the people around me better than I ever thought I would.
The school year has started with me with a very frustrating experience. Junior High school was not exactly that way I imagined. First lesson was my explicit and direct exposure to what a junior high school is. From the first lesson I already understood that I have
These past four years have really been a life changing experience. From a childish freshmen not only at school but at home too, to a still sometimes childish senior, one who knows when and how to control himself. This school and its teachers have taught me so many lessons that will not be forgotten any time soon.
I thought that the teachers did a nice job with their classroom set up. I felt like I could have kept myself busy all day just by looking at the walls and seeing the pictures of presidents and famous historic quotes by famous people of our nations past. One thing I really enjoyed was the time the teachers allotted me at the end of each class to reflect to the class. Not only throughout my past middle school, and high school experiences but also, and most importantly, my current college experiences, the temptations that I have had to endure have definitely been rewarding.
Valedictorian Speech Good evening fellow graduates, teachers, family members, friends, and distinguished guests. It is a tremendous honor to be the valedictorian of our graduating class. My job is to somehow be the voice of the entire graduating class, and take five minutes to say a few words on behalf of all 539 of us. Like most valedictorians, writing this speech was not an easy task for me. Not because I did not have anything to say, but because I was overwhelmed by how much I wanted to share with you all on this day. Tonight, we have one common purpose, to celebrate. We are here to congratulate, to look towards what the future holds for us, to wish each other well, and to, most importantly look back on our time spent here. So, I would like to start by saying 'well done' to my fellow graduates, who have all worked hard during the past several years to reach this milestone. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the graduating class for selecting me to speak here tonight. Ever since the news broke, many people, some who've I've never really met before, have come up to me and have wished me well. Perhaps this speech would be incomplete if I don’t say something to the teachers. On the behalf of my entire class, I would like to thank all my teachers: thank you. Thank you for teaching us, for leading us, for building us up as adults. I know that we have not given back to you the respect you deserve. I know that we have not told you how much we appreciate you taking time out of your schedules to help us. And I know that we have not said thank you for giving us a wonderful education. So, I hope that as I say thanks, you can forget our shortcomings and remember us for who we are and not from the mistakes we have made. ...
In 7th grade I had to get up in front of my class to get, and present a commercial. I was so scared at first because I am a very shy person. It is not easy for me to speak in front a lot of people. As I waited for my turn I felt like I was going to cry. It felt like my stomach was in my throat. In the end I was scared for nothing because when I went up and did really good. The teacher complimented me on my work. After that day I was so proud of myself for conquering my fear. In 8th grade I finally got on the honor roll, again. I was so happy to be on the honor roll, because I hadn’t been on the honor roll in a really long time. seeing all those A’s made me so happy. I felt the same excitement as I felt in kindergarten when I first gotten on the honor
I was really impressed on how well organized Alexia Hall was with the class she seem to know where she wanted to the class to be at the end of the semester. We were past out with the class policies and a syllabus of what we were going to do the whole semester. I thought this was very convenient so that there was no mixed signals in the group.
