Jerilynn is a proud Indigenous member of the Nuxalk and Cayuga (Six) Nation (Jb the First Lady) who immensely contributes to her community. She was born in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan in an impoverished ‘single-parent, Christian home” (Warner). Upon her arrival to Vancouver; at the age of 14, she was flooded by a culture-shock of experienced racism and discrimination as people negatively labelled her with elements of her race and culture (Hong). It was after this incident that she began to become aware of the profound issues living in a white-dominated city. She also began recording in a studio called KAYA (Knowledge Aboriginal Youth Association) (Hong). Janis Joplin distinguishes from the others greatly because of her untraditional singing and performing style. Just like many other singers, Janis Joplin began her career by performing in bars and clubs (Jialan). The unsupportive environment and hardship of life once almost made her lose faith in her singing career, but the strong appeal of blues music never allowed her to give up. She was most inspired by Bessie Smith and Odetta, and gradually discovered a singing method that complimented her voice the most (“Life: biography”).
not take her long to become well-known and one of the top female rappers of all time. According
One of the most colorful music legends of the 1960's was Janis Joplin. Blues legend Janis Lyn Joplin was born on January 19th 1943, the eldest child of parents Seth and Dorothy Joplin. Janis was born and raised in the small Southern petroleum industry town of Port Arthur, Texas. Her father was a canning factory worker, her mother a registrar at a local business college. Her non-aberrational upbringing coupled with the atmosphere of Port Arthur at the time; generally restrictive, intolerant, and unnurturing must've made even Janis' early childhood difficult. By all accounts, however, Janis seems to have been a "normal" and happy child, who fitted society's usual definition of "pretty". It was in Janis' adolescence that the hang-ups and hassles that were to affect the path of the rest of her life. In a sense, her rigid upbringing played a large part in making Janis who she was. This would never have been admitted at the time, but, predictably, the "Port Arthur" ethic created a fire inside Janis and kept it burning until her death. Janis' troubles began, when she was a teenager with her "good looks" gradually began to disintegrate, her soft blonde hair turned into an unruly brown mane. She also developed severe acne, which would scar her mentally as well as physically. Hence, Janis became something of a loner, as was named the ugly girl. She soon began avoiding mirrors, and her anxiety about her looks was made worse by the constant taunts by peers, who rejected her and often made fun of her. When Janis found that society had rejected her, she rejected it.

Though the title of Debut implied that it was Björk's first-ever solo project, she had actually been a professional vocalist since she was a child. When she was in elementary school in Reykjavik, she studied classical piano and, eventually, her teachers submitted a tape of her singing Tina Charles' "I Love to Love" to Iceland's Radio One. After "I Love to Love" was aired, a record label called Falkkin offered Björk a record contract. At the age of 11, her eponymous first album was released; the record contained covers of several pop songs, including the Beatles' "Fool on the Hill," and boasted artwork from her mother and guitar work from her stepfather. Björk became a hit within Iceland and was not released in any other country.
Songs that today rule bars, dance clubs, parties and of course her numerous fans. In 2015 she was announced as a judge for ninth season of the TV music show The Voice.
I recently came across a video about a drug called Flakka in Florida. It brought me a lot of attention so I read an article about it. This drug, Flakka is very dangerous, highly addictive and causes hallucinations and psychosis. There were many reports about people who were high on the drug, they basically go out of control to a point where you can’t even predict what their next move is. A University student stabbed a married couple and people have tried to attack others around them. People high on the drug also are paranoid so they see people trying to attack them or kill them. I saw videos on social media and I honestly see no difference between a zombie and a person whose high on Flakka. This article interested me because I have always

To overcome the cultural barrier and attract more oversea supporters, the K-pop groups are welcome to keep its singer’s nationality diversity. For example, the girl group “Twice” debuted last year was formed by five Korean members, three Japanese members, and one Taiwanese member. [ ] Adding different nationality members of a band group is helping the group to enter the particular market since they clearly have a language advantage over other competitors and have some kind of emotional or cultural similarities can be used to appeal to oversea fans. At the same time, producing K-pop music is also a process of global sourcing. Such as Girls’ Generation’s song “Genie” was arranged by Yu Yeong-jin, a Korean musician, but it was composed by Design Group from Europe and choreography by a Japanese- American dancer called Rino Nakasone Razalan.
