The air is filled with the smell of fresh fruit and the sound of a blender as I head into Jamba Juice for the morning shift. It'll be a normal Tuesday, I guess. Small gesture, I'm aware that today will be a turning point in my career.I feel an unusual buzz among my colleagues as I tie my apron and adjust my visor. It's as if a stray bubble from an overflowing smoothie cup floats in midair, whispering about the change of leadership and a new position. I was intrigued by curiosity, but I put it aside and concentrated on the task at hand: the morning was drawing to a close. The first few hours passed in a blur of colorful fruits, cool mixtures and cheerful service. I've got a part, and I'm capable of juggling a number of orders while smiling:). …show more content…
The words hung in the air, as did the smell of our new sweet and sour smoothie. Is that me, the shift supervisor?"I... I don't know what to say," I stammered, a grin spreading across my face.Mark laughed. Say yes, Sarah! You are right! You've got the ability to cope with the pressure, the rapport with the customers, and the ability to motivate your staff. If we want peace, we have to do this. I was enthralled by Mark's description of the duties and benefits of the new function, as if the foam from a freshly made smoothie had melted inside me. This isn't just a promotion, it's an opportunity to change, lead, and make a real difference in our business. So, what are your thoughts on that? Mark said, leaning on his chair. You're up for the challenge of this new challenge, are you?I take a deep breath and I feel a surge of confidence. "Absolutely," I replied, my voice steady and steady. I'm ready to mix to the following degree. If we want peace, we have to do this. Mark's face is filled with joy. If we want peace, we have to do this! i.e. a symphony of a symphony. When I left Mark's office, I felt as if I were floating in midair. There's a sudden surge of fresh potential in the familiar sights and sounds of the …show more content…
"The sudden surge of customers drowns Lisa's excitement, but her quick embrace expresses her excitement and support. I felt a renewed purpose in my actions as soon as we got back to work.A blur of praise from colleagues, supportive nods from ordinary customers who had heard the news, and a buzz of ideas for the future passed over the remainder of the day. I couldn't help but wonder how far I'd gotten since my first day at Jamba Juice. I remember the agitated girl, fighting with her memory of the recipe, overwhelmed by the speed and complexity of the order. I'm here now, about to assume leadership responsibilities. It's not just smoothies anymore, it's leadership, customer service and helping the store to succeed in a new way.I'm hesitant to look around the store as I remove my apron and prepare to leave. Now the shiny blender, the colorful menus, the neat stacking cup have a new look. This isn't just my work, it's my space for growth and leadership. The burden of my new obligation rests upon my shoulders as I head out into the cool evening
Chad Miller, manager of Buffalo Wild Wings in Dubuque, excellently showcases leadership characteristics each time I work with him. Throughout my one and a half years working underneath him, I have witnessed many great exchanges of leadership from Chad to customers, employees, and his other managers. He remains professional, shows his passion for the sports within the restaurant, as well as the food and atmosphere, clearly communicates effectively, and has inspired many people to move up within the company. However, another great example of leadership comes from the Director of Student Life, Diversity, and Leadership of Northeast Iowa Community College, Kara Popp. She exudes professionalism, while maintaining a light atmosphere during the time I work with her. Her communication style clearly shows her passion for the school by consistently instilling excitement and enthusiasm into her audiences. As president underneath of Kara, I have transformed into a proper leader. Although my previous leadership experience, as an 18 year old manager at a McDonald’s restaurant, showed my immaturity throughout my tenure, but beca...

I knew it would happen. As much as I tried to stay optimistic, to put off my feelings of suspicion to an old man's negativity, I knew that this case would cost me something more than just my reputation in the town and that didn't even really matter. In Maycomb, reputation is a day by day concept. Sure, we have more than enough of our fair share of immovable gossipers, and drama kings and queens looking for a story to spread. But in everyone's own mind, if you did something stupid, immoral, or just mildly humorous or entertaining, it was the talk of the town and you were judged terribly for a few days, a few weeks tops. Then the whispers, and glances faded to conversations over coffee, and deep inside jokes. My reputation didn't bother me one bit.
I feel something brush over the top of my right foot. A sharp-tickling pain comes on the top of my foot. Quickly, I run out of the warm ocean water onto the dry sand. My mom notices something. “What is this?” she questioned. “It’s a jellyfish!”
There once was a water droplet named Raine, she was thousands of years old. Her routine consisted of going through the water cycle, she got to see new things each day and explore. Sometimes she ended up in the same place, but most of the time she got to see new things. In this story you are going to hear about one day when Raine went to Fruitvale.
Over and over she sang this, reminiscing on the past, letting the needle guide her into a different time. This melodramatic act of hers was repeated each day, from sunrise until noon when it became time for her afternoon nap. Today remained more or less the same except she was gradually moving further and further back into her memory, further than she had before, transforming into the person she once was, the child she had once been that no longer existed. A calm breeze blew in through the window letting a strand of hair from behind her ear fall onto her face, not seeming to care she continued, “…bumble-bee, lavender, sage.”
I’m sitting behind him, the boy who everyone wants to know, has to know and does know. He’s a mystery to us all, especially his eyes. God, they were beautiful. He has heterochromia, where one of his eyes are blue – blue like the scarf my grandmother gave to me, a beautiful baby sky blue. His other eye, was brown with a small spot of the blue from his other eye in the corner. Everyone know his name, Kian Sherwood. Most people believed he was gay because he never spent time with anyone else, but Matt Somerhalder. They were closer than I am to my food and my bed; practically glued to each other. Kian was always popular in conversation, the blonde boy with gorgeous eyes that spoke Spanish fluently. Everyone girl wanted to be his, hell probably

Hello, i’m Terance, Terance Rileys and I am one of the of the victims that survived the most scariest thing I have ever experienced. It all started when my friends Melanie, Dorbie, and Yalaina decided to go to a party. Taylie Ann Marie’s party, she was the most popular girl in school. I was surprised when Taylor invited Melanie and Yalaina, but not Dorbie. You could obviously tell she had a crush on him, always twirling her hair around him and flirting and it makes me was to barf.
I woke up the very next day, feeling rested, yet startled from the recent day. I usually wake up fine, but only if I awaken naturally. If anyone or anything wakes me up, you can almost guarantee I'll be at least a bit cranky. A few hours later, I checked the time, and it was 12:07 in the morning...
A year ago I left ______I started going to an amazing school and met a whole plethora of wonderful, cute people. I made new, lovely friends that are some of the best people I’ve ever met. One person stood out from the rest, though. This ginger boy with the disposition of a golden retriever and a smile that I swear could make flowers grow. Of course I didn’t realize it at the time, but he’s the boy I would come to fall in love with. Now this boy—he is the biggest goofball I have ever met, but he’s the goofball that stole my heart, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The man I keep running from is still following me I have been able to find a
