My final course deliverable I choose the internship option. The site that I would prefer to do an internship at is Colorado Children’s Hospital located at 13123 East 16th Avenue Aurora, CO 80045. Children’s hospital Colorado is the only pediatric level 1 trauma center within the region and provides comprehensive medical care to children ages birth through adolescents. Conditions they treat are from minor illnesses to complex medical conditions, emergencies and traumas (Childrens Colorado, 2018). To name a few are the Boulder Chapter which was founded in 1967. Cancer Care Chapter founded in 1993, Highlands Ranch Youth Volunteer Chapter founded in 2010 and many more. The requirements to be a volunteer at the Colorado Children’s hospital are, to be committed to their volunteer program for a period of 6 months, volunteer on a regular basis from 3 to 6 hours weekly, attend trainings and orientation for the program you are assigned to, if you are 18 years or older you must have a successful completion of a background check, a health clearance from Colorado Children’s Occupational Health Services and complete an …show more content…

I want to be able to understand an infusion center industry and how pediatric patients cope with cancer or hemophilia infusions versus normal childhood. By the end of my internship I would interview several professionals within the infusion center department and get a clear understanding the expectations of the infusion center, how long infusions take, what children can do while getting their infusions. I would then ensure that I interview child patients with the permission of their parents that range in school age children, and get an understanding how coming to an infusion center makes them feel and what would make them feel better while they are here at the infusion center and when they leave and what might help ease their anxiety about their next infusion. I would then, create a report with my interviews and children suggestions and my own suggestions after observing during the time of my
