My internship at 6abc has been a dream come true. For me brushing elbows with a famous journalist like Jim Gardner means more than meeting a famous movie star. The atmosphere in the building is something indescribable and it changes every day, every hour to be precise. When news changes, the atmosphere changes. I have honestly dreamed of working at 6abc since I first realized I wanted to be a broadcaster. Their sense of family on television really grabbed me and I always knew that this was the place I wanted to work. Well I got here, but for only three short months, and it breaks my heart to know that I have to leave. There have been some ups and downs during my experience in the Creative Services department, but I gained a better understanding …show more content…
It was not at all what I thought it would be and I honestly realized along the way this is not a department I would want to work in. The desk work and the constant time on the computer really turns me off from working in any department that entails sitting in one spot for six hours. To counter that I did go out to shoot promotional videos and I had the opportunity to go to some events that I would never be able to go to without 6abc, but the time spent at the desk really makes those events less intriguing. I was hoping to do a lot more on camera projects when starting this internship, but I spent a lot of time behind the camera which I was not used to. I do think that having this internship was very important because it taught me a lot about how much goes into promoting a news station. I now appreciate all of the people that aren’t on television because they do most of the dirty work. Our talent do write some of their stories, but their job seems a lot more relaxing than some of the other employees. I loved interacting with the talent more than anything because I hope one day to be in their shoes. Adam Joseph is such a sweetheart and I am honored to have worked closely with him on projects along with all of the 6abc talent. Watching them with fans at events make me even more driven to be the best I can be and get a fan base like they all have
...s. I am thankful for all those I got to meet through this internship, and I am especially thankful to have had Bethany as a boss. I have an even greater deal of respect for the hospitality industry and I cannot wait to learn more about the sports world as a whole. This experience has served me well in my senior year and the lessons I learned here will serve me well in my career. I hope to one day possibly be an Athletic Director or a General Manager. I will probably have to interact with people in the hospitality industry and it will be much easier to understand what they require to be successful and how I can help them. Now my mission is to continue on with my experience and to learn as much as possible about the different careers within sport and how it all intertwines. I will continue to strive for greatness and to be the best possible friend and worker I can be.
Internships completed by students in certain degree programs are quite popular in most colleges and universities. An internship is used so classroom based learning in a degree program can be applied to practical situations in the real world (Jordan, Burns, Bedard & Barringer, 2007). When students are placed with an agency, there is a real possibility that a portion of students will witness actions they believe is unethical or illegal. During a study conducted within four universities, many students that participated in an internship program within the criminal justice system reported that they had observed behavior they suspected to be illegal behavior for a law enforcement agency. (Jordan et al. 2007). Due to this ongoing problem, colleges
During my first week doing my internship at Department of labor of Veterans employment service (VETS), I was super excited to start because I know it was going to be an incredible experience working at a Federal government setting. In my first week being in the office I had to get all the paper work ready in order to be able start working for the government. For example, they will have to do a background check and copies of two of my personal documents. Furthermore, I had to do online questioners that is called E-Quip of which I had to create a password and username and also answer multiple questions about my background information and all the jobs activities that I had worked before. Furthermore, I also had to include three people that I know
While there, I also worked with a large non-profit organization, received an outstanding service award for working 5 years in an inner city project, wrote and sold 2 radio...
Business internships are helping students gain real world experience while they are not actually out in the real world yet. Internships are becoming more and more popular with college students in today’s world. An internship is basically when a student in college goes to a company or business and works while they are still enrolled in school and still getting academic credit. In particular, it was helpful to here from individuals on the panel that were graduates from our program. Elizabeth Cowart, a LPC at Transitions of Augusta, informed my classmates and I about about her personal internship experiences. She noted four key things (1) the importance of getting as much hands-on experience as possible (2) taking a mental note of the what you like and dislike at each internship site (3) using weekly supervision hours to discuss your areas of strengths and weaknesses and (4) remembering to always maintain a professional image. In addition, she also gave a brief overview of opportunities (e.g., adolescent group therapy, child and parent therapy, disability evaluations, etc.) that interns might have at Transitions of
The quarter has finally come to an end, and with that, I close out my internship and this class that went along with it. It was a great experience and I leave equipped with a new set of skills that are preparing me for the world ahead. As I write this reflection paper, I think back to the very first week when I set up two goals for myself to focus on and hope to achieve throughout the following weeks. My first goal was to develop a better understanding of myself within the work place, and my second was to develop a strong network to jumpstart my career. Both of my goals were achieved, however, I don’t feel that either of my goals will ever be complete. I believe that you can always formulate a better understanding of yourself, and you can always network to develop a stronger tree of connections. I know for a fact, however, that I reached satisfaction with both of my goals at this internship at MKI and know whole-heartedly that I did everything in my power to exhaust my resources in
Throughout my one hundred and twenty-hour experience with the Gloversville Police Department, I learned many skills, values and the ways of this Police Department. Many of the calls and situations I went to often could relate to a certain theory that I learned in any of my law classes. I would recommend any student majoring in Criminal Justice to try to take an internship with a local law enforcement agency. I am currently signed up for the civil service test for Gloversville Police Department, If I do qualify for the Police I believe that this internship will give me a huge head start.
Most people imagine their dream job is to become a famous actor or a job they have seen done many times. Though because of the progression of technology I would be more suited in a field involving computers. My dream job is to become a successful software engineer because I have always been into computer systems, but can I fit this job, is the career life something I can manage and what opportunities should I go after when becoming a software engineer. Each time I notice how a program is used I wonder how can I make it become faster or more efficient. When you are using your cell phone or iPad there is usually an update at every month. This is because apple is improving the speed of your applications. A software engineer is sometimes overlooked, but without software engineer’s applications would either crash or would not improve. Although most people may feel looking at a computer all day and trying to fix it is uninteresting, I find it challenging
The internship program that I had was a great experience to me. The internship is important for any student to improve his skills in his career. My internship experience this semester was interesting. I interned at ESH/MESH with Bridgeway. My Supervisor was Emilie Banz. I didn’t do much but I did learn a lot from this experience. I met a lot of great people and watch PsyR in action. I met a couple of individuals who were really cool. My experience this semester has prepared me for the next.
Indeed, I admit that my experience in my clinical internship is much different in my industrial setting. I experienced the world of unemployed and employed people. I experienced to look for a job, pass resume, being interviewed and waiting for a call from a company. I admit that it’s really hard and tiring to look for a job. After all the struggles, I received a call from the company where I want to get in and spend my internship. I got accepted to work and do my internship at Philippine Airlines, for me I take this as an opportunity since I really want to work in airlines. I worked at Philippine Airlines for almost a month. I was assigned in Human Capital specifically Compensation Division. At first, I find difficulty in adjusting to this
