Introduction
There is no question that easy access to the internet has changed the nature of people connect to others in their social world. The uses of the internet and watching TV have becoming a day to day activity in people’s lives. However, the amount of internet use is increasing among younger people than watching TV or reading hard copy books. Since internet does provide almost any information, it does make it easier to gain information about anything you want to learn. Internet is not only used to search information or use for entertainment, it has also become faster to communicate worldwide. However, college students and younger kids are spending too much time on the internet. Instead they should be out in the real world.

For example “The impact of Internet and Television Use on the Reading Habits and Practices of College Students” Kouider Mokhtari, Carla A. Reichard, and Anne Gardner, studied that how television viewing and internet use affect the reading habits of college students. The study used a surveys completed by undergraduate college students about 4500, which it showed how students divided their time between activities and study. Additionally, they looked at the percentage of time college students spending on the internet for recreation reading and academic purpose; they discovered that students spend more time using internet for their recreation reading. They also found out that recreation reading is more enjoyable than academic reading. Phanuel use the internet daily for doing homework and academic reading. He said, often enjoy reading a lot about technological developments and product enhancements. There haven’t been many studies on the habits of college students, which is one reason why Mokhtari decided to study it. The reading skills of Americans are decreasing as each year passes. While I am a very avid user of the internet, and I do watch quite a bit of television, I also spend a fair amount of time reading. An example of Mokhtari’s idea is shown even here; some people also cannot immediately restate what the might have just read, indicating our attention is elsewhere almost constantly. Another finding states that people who spend long amounts of time on the internet spend less time socializing with friends and family members. However there is a contradiction to this, studies have also found that people use the internet to finish tasks quickly and free up time to spend on other activities. This contradiction, or the “displacement hypothesis” may play a part in how the study of college students goes.
Although the Internet has increased how much we read, it has deteriorated our concentration level. We are no longer able to read long passages and stay interested. We have resorted to skimming or finding a shorter version. It has also affected our ability to take an analytical approach to what we read. We no longer go beyond comprehending the information we take in. Outside of using the Internet to “enhance” our mind, Carr has also made the point that it is a daily involvement. We incorporate it in our everyday lives, because it is a source of entertainment or serves as some type of convenience for us.
As a college student, using the internet and technology is a daily task. Everything you need for your classes: schedules, homework, quizzes, even tests are all online. The debate on technology and the brain suggests that technology may have an effect on brain, effect multi-tasking, and cause addiction.

Many people use internet without knowing it, even I use internet without knowing that I am using too much I consider myself as an addict because I check my Facebook at least 3 times a day and text every time while I eat too. In high school, I used to use my phone in the class because it was allowed in class and teacher didn’t mind but in college I have to tell myself to not use phone in class since it is very important to achieve my goals and get a degree.
