Introduction.
Since 1970, there has been a high alert for environmental problems. Some people may think that automobiles are the main cause of the non-recyclable resource. Even building and homes use half of the non-recyclable resource. Sustainability architecture is not the newest concept. The sustainable architecture is rarely ever used, reason behind is the both the architect and the client. It’s the job of architect to involve the client in the idea of the sustainable architecture. Due to the lack of solid resources most architects are unable to create or design a new sustainable architecture for a client. Even though options are given to the client about the sustainable architecture, however the client turns down the offer because they may not want to the pay the additional costs to construct. At some point the client has to be educated about design issues “sleek doesn’t mean better” and “a glass wall is not better than a concrete wall”. Time will come when people will have to be concerned about the internal architecture than the exterior architecture. Architects must stop withdrawing information from the catalogue and use their own design ability to reshape the way architecture runs. Sustainability architecture not only is preferable for the environment but it also gives the opportunity for the architect to really push the design beyond its limit. Ball-Eastaway House even if its built in the forest does it hold the meaning of sustainable architecture.
Ball-Eastaway House
The winner of the Pritzker prize Glenn Murcutt was the architect behind Ball-Eastaway House. Ball-Eastaway House comes from the name artist Sid Ball and Lyn Eastaway. Located in the forest of acacias, the house was built for two artists Sid Ball and L...

...uilding doesn’t have to sustainable but if clients started thinking in a way to make it sustainable than it would not only help the world but help push the architect to beyond their limit of design. Not necessarily the building has to be eco friendly in every other way but even a minor helps are accepted by it. Although its made out of steel and timber, Ball-Eastaway house has a various characteristics where it helps the environment. It’s built in a way so that it would benefit both the building and the nature around it. In case there is a fire the house would prevent it from getting spread through the forest with its sparkling installation system. There is always a room for an improvement, same with the Ball-Eastaway house in term of sustainability it can be made more effective and much more powerful with the power of natural resource where its surrounded by it.
Born shortly after the end of the Civil War in 1867, Wright grew up mostly in Madison, WI. After college, he secured a position with the prestigious Chicago architectural firm Adler & Sullivan in 1887. A disagreement with Sullivan six years later, forced Wright to start his own firm. After he designed six other homes is when Wright started to come into his own permanent designs in architecture. He came to use repetitive design elements in his plans that included the open concept, fireplaces, glazed windows and doors and the use of organic materials that were incorporated into the homes. Some of these designs o...
This essay will focus on what BREEAM is, how it can help individuals and businesses realise the benefits and value of designing and operating a sustainable building. It’s a set of standards and certification schemes that measures sustainable value in the built environment. BREEAM stands for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology and it’s a global sustainability standard and rating system for buildings. BREEAM is used as a ‘label’ on over 200000 buildings and is currently being applied to clients in over 50 different countries on 40000 projects. The BREEAM mark provides clients and the market with a clear statement about the quality of the building and its environmental performance.
Pei was born in China in 1917 and immigrated to the United States in 1935. He originally attended the University of Pennsylvania but grew unconfident in his drawing skills so he dropped out and pursued engineering at MIT. After Pei decided to return to architecture, he earned degrees from both MIT and Harvard. In 1956, after he had taught at Harvard for three years, he established I.M. Pei & Partners, an architectural firm that has been known as Pei Cobb Freed & Partners since 1989. This firm is famous for its successful and rational solutions to a variety of design problems. They are responsible for many of the largest pubic and private construction projects in the second half of this century. Some of these projects include the East Building of the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., the John F. Kennedy Memorial Library in Boston, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
In conclusion, the designers and builders of the tower have an undesirable job: creating a building that is functional, modern, sustainable and unique. At the same time it is honoring the memory of the people that died in and around the buildings that stood there before. While the green sustainable features have been criticized for being too expensive, they will do more than save just water, electricity and emissions. They and the grace of the building will inspire a generation of green and safe skyscrapers for the twenty-first century. This building has become one of the safest, environmentally friendly and expensive ever built, but as critics slate the building for various reasons, one cannot take away the determination through political, social and economic status that designers and workers have created such a beautiful building with great meaning.
The world is developing every day and we continue to discover new and innovative ways to better our quality of life. A trend that everyone seems to be focused on is saving the environment, which is also known as sustainable living. Not only does this apply to our lifestyle and environment, but it also translates into design. Sustainable living is becoming more popular around the world and is a lifestyle using skillful and sensitive design. It eliminates negative environmental impact and requires renewable resources. We each have decided to research different furniture companies to broaden our knowledge of the innovative practices used in each company. Throughout our paper we will introduce each of our companies and the products and practices they use to produce sustainable furniture. Our research will show that sustainable furniture design is beneficial to consumers by allowing them to live a more environmentally friendly lifestyle as their manufacturers develop innovative ways to make renewable furniture.

In the world of the twenty-first century, the result of our intention to use natural resources which is non-renewable had spew more unwanted substances and energy into the environment than the earth is capable of digesting, and this had thrown the entire global ecosystem out of balance. Even worse when architecture now have been considered due to their tremendous impact on the environment both during construction and through their operation. Moreover, most of the green architecture we seen today do not actually touch the sensitivity of community history, culture and identity, and therefore it is not well adapt to the community.
The sustainable interior design has a different main guideline; before esthetics, there is ethics. It has as main objective the healthy, the beneficial or harmful for the health of the people who live in the homes and to preserve the natural environment that surrounds it.
My argument is how sustainable architecture can be used and how it can benefit the Earth and it’s residence in an environmental or cost-effective way. Thus, leading to exploration of the different forms, of technology and materials used. Further developing my research on how culture, or time, might have affected, what or why, the building might have been constructed in a certain way, and also how the location might have affected the designs, of the buildings.
The beginnings of today's green revolution can be traced back to the environmental awareness of the 1960s and European design. New construction techniques have lead to the development of innovative materials and design concepts. Green buildings are designed, constructed and commissioned to ensure they are healthy for their occupants. Successfully designed green projects can involve an extensive array of factors, ranging from the resourceful use of materials, to careful consideration of function, climate, and location.
Sustainable design seeks to reduce negative impacts on the environment, the health and comfort of building occupants, thereby improving building performance. The basic objects of sustainability are to reduce consumption of non-renewable resources, minimal waste, and create healthy, productive environments (“Sustainable Design”). Focusing primarily on the sustainable design principles, there are five, including: low-impact materials, energy efficiency, quality and durability, design for reuse and recycling, and renewability. As sustainability appears to become the necessary trend in architecture, the question concerning the cost versus outcome of “going green” really an investment or a waste of time and money comes to mind. With our research provided below, we believe the expenses may truly be with the investment in the end.

... architectures would led to a more organic organization beneficial to the people that choose to make their lives in this city. Although this model of a sustainable city is not a perfectly closed loop, it lays the foundation for one that is. Over time, with constantly evolving and improving technology and new methods of design from the scale of products to buildings, the gaps in the loop could be closed, and a “true” sustainable city could be fully realized.
Implementation of green concepts has been significant not only in design engineering but also in construction. Therefore the knowledge about green design has been a very important fact for the sustainable development in civil engineering. Concepts such as green buildings, carbon foot print, ecological foot print and LEED rating system have helped to achieve sustainable development for civil engineering
There are 25 major specialties in engineering that are recognized by professional societies. In any one of those 25 specialties, the goal of the engineer is the same. The goal is to be able to come up with a cost effective design that aids people in the tasks they face each day. Whether it be the coffee machine in the morning or the roads and highways we travel, or even the cars we travel in, it was all an idea that started with an engineer. Someone engineered each idea to make it the best solution to a problem. Even though engineer’s goals are similar, there are many different things that engineers do within their selected field of engineering. This paper will focus on the architectural field of engineering.
