One of my current intellectual interests that fascinates me the most would be studying how our universe works and why. I am extremely engaged in this field of study because there is such a vast amount of material covering the the cosmos that it is impossible to stop learning and get bored with. Also, I greatly enjoy discovering how our universe works because it helps me grasp a better understanding of what is happening around me. I also find that this field of science is extremely vital to helping the human species avoid a mass extinction. But I believe that my deepest passion in learning as much as I possibly can about the universe relates to the fact that the atoms that comprise life on Earth are traceable to the stars and gases that make up our universe. Knowing this makes me feel more connected to the universe, because in a way we are not only a part of the universe, but the universe is a part of us. …show more content…
This frequently crosses my mind because once our sun sucks in the Earth through its gravitational pull the evidence of our existence will be destroyed forever, and if extraterrestrial life does happen to exist they will never know of the place that we once called home. I know that if there is no search for a habitable location this is gauranteed to happen. I hope that one day I will be qualified to take action on this interest of mine to help search for a new source for our species to thrive at, because Earth will not always be here for us. There will be no history book for us if we cannot find a new location to
Not only is human connection vital to live a happy and joyful life, but it is necessary to create a legacy, and thus live on through others. But in order to do this, one must first overcome their ego and their sense of self. Once all of the “I” thoughts are gone, one can relate, but fully understand, the higher powers as well as other human beings around us. However, it is important to accept that we may never fully understand the driving force of this universe. While it can be experienced, and we can briefly get an idea of what it is, it is impossible to define these concepts in words, because we don’t have a language that transcends what we can understand. And though many recognize that these concepts could never be fully understood by the human brain, determined minds continue to ask questions that will never have an answer, “pushing their minds to the limits of what we can know” (Armstrong,
Hesiod’s Theogony and the Babylonian Enuma Elish are both myths that begin as creation myths, explaining how the universe and, later on, humans came to be. These types of myths exist in every culture and, while the account of creation in Hesiod’s Theogony and the Enuma Elish share many similarities, the two myths differ in many ways as well. Both myths begin creation from where the universe is a formless state, from which the primordial gods emerge. The idea of the earth and sky beginning as one and then being separated is also expressed in both myths.
A question many ask is, “are we alone in this universe?” Formulas, like The Drake Equation, and arguments, like the Fermi’s paradox, have been proposed help use deduce whether our universe is a biological one. The Drake Equation puts forth high probabilities of extraterrestrial life. However, there are skeptics who believe there is only one planet where life can exist, and this planet is the one that discover us. Whether or not life outside of Earth exist, the exploration of the biological universe is beneficial to humanity’s understanding of our place in the universe.
Earth has served as a good home for humans for many years, and will most likely
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view – until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” Harper Lee identifies many charcters in the beginning of this book. She was very descriptive of all the characters in the beginning of the book. Each character was described from Scout’s point of view. Throughout the book, Lee lets the reader see some of the characters in their natural environments. They are still written through Scout’s eyes, but instead of passing by them on the sidewalk, Scout is in their home sitting with them, or hearing personal stories about them. Three of these characters that Scout points out specifically are Jem Finch, Aunt Alexandra, and Tom Robinson.
The films The Searchers and Avatar both make use of the master narratives of regulating social order and disorder. One is used as a way to reinforce this narrative, while the latter is shaped more towards critiquing the overall of ideal of the American social order. The struggle presented by an external threats in both films give the opportunity of interpreting and contrasting the master narrative and the effects that can come from imbalances in social orders.
Democratic is when citizens vote for all elected officials. Many had defied political system as it was, and thrived towards to create a democratic system that will be beneficial for America as a whole. Andrew Jackson was one of those individuals who challenged the government’s views, and whose name is tied closely to democracy. This essay will focus on the aspects that made this president so great and how democratic was he in actual fact.
An underlying theme present throughout the series is the possibility that our existence is not the only one. According to current theories in physics, it is entirely possible that our universe is just one of many universes f...
Interprofessional Practice (IPP) is the ability to provide a comprehensive health care service to all patients. Healthcare providers achieve this joining together and working collaboratively to deliver quality care across a range of healthcare settings. An interprofessional setting may offer several benefits to patients, including improved access to healthcare, less conflict and tension amongst caregivers, improved use of clinical resources, better retention of staff, better results for patients in particular those with chronic diseases. Many people who live on Earth are close minded to what is really out there in the universe. They cannot even begin to fathom the vastness of it and how Earth is just a tiny little speck compared to everything else out there. From the planets to the stars and out towards the edge of the unknown, we can only see what science provides us with. From this, we know that we are nothing but a tiny planet located in a solar system of millions in a galaxy of many more in the universe.
The universe, it's vastness, how it was created, and why we are a part of it amazes and astounds many people who are constantly searching for answers. Others believe they have the answers and try to persuade people to understand their view. Others don't even think about it at all.
What is ideology? How can it help us understand media? Use academic literature to support your argument.
Throughout my school career I have always loved chemistry. In Chemistry there was always a sense that there was more, there was always something new and exciting to be discovered and theories to be proven (or even disproven). Chemistry was the main subject with a real practical aspect to it during school and it is this, along with my genuine fascination with the subject, which fuels my desire to study it further.
The universe exists solely according to each of our own experiences and feelings. For me, the universe was created by God who used evolution to construct us as intelligent, compassionate beings. This is the truth in my eyes, but I know many other people have their own faith that is just as justifiable and true as mine. I know this because everyone bases their feelings about the world around on them on the experiences that each of them had, whether it was growing up with a religion or having an emotional event that caused significant revelations. After watching the Empathic 3 video in class, I had a deep realization that the reason why we are all connected is because we each feel empathy for each other. I believe in reincarnation after death and perhaps we are all one soul with different levels of wisdom in all different moments of time. I believe that by observation a person, you can sense how old their soul is despite their age because I have felt this first-hand. When I was a kid, I used to tell my mom t...
