The Research Process
Thesis and dissertations are obviously lengthier compared to journal articles, and because of that, I admit that I prefer journal articles to thesis papers before. However, it hadn’t occurred to me how much time and effort thesis authors offered for these papers that I disregarded until now that I had actually made one. From my experiences, it was not easy. I had gone through process with time, effort, and commitment as my investment. Fortunately, I believe that the process and the result were worth everything that I had given up and offered.
I have also improved a lot as a result of going through this thesis journey. For one, I have become more proficient in writing scholarly papers. My experiences taught me discernment on what to include in our paper and strategies on how to properly organize and present the information I desire to communicate with the readers of my work.
Qualitative methods’ importance makes sense to me now. In the past, I would always chose quantitative methods as I prefer dealing with mathematics and numbers. In addition, I was more accustomed to the mechanisms of quantitative methods, for it was what we commonly for our papers. I also have to admit that my field methods class haven’t really taught or prepared me that much for qualitative methods. As a result, I didn’t know at first how to effectively handle and conduct focus group discussions. However, because of my experiences from our data gathering, I was able to appreciate qualitative methods and perceive my areas for improvement in executing focus group discussion.
Truly, qualitative methods offer us valuable information, as we are able to understand the context where participants operate. We learn to apprehend the variables ...

I always had to remind myself that we working as a team and that my partner had already proven her worthiness of my trust. For with under these circumstances could we only both learn and aim to maximize each other’s strengths and fill in the limitations of one another.
Conclusion
The last the two semesters allotted for our thesis completion were filled with memories that had elicited in me varied emotions as I went through them. There were times of frustration, helplessness, and even sheer joy. Also, one thing that I am certain of my experiences in this last two semesters is of their success in teaching me several lessons that I could definitely make use for my future endeavors in life.
Writing can be very frustrating; laying your ideas out on paper so that others can grasp the concept you are trying to convey is a very difficult task. In Writing 101 I have learned how to formulate good theses that are arguable and also how to validate articles that have to do with my topic. The most important element of a paper is the thesis statement. It captures the reader's attention and tells them what the essay is about. Having a well-structured thesis along with evidence to support that thesis are the main ingredients to a well-written essay. I have also learned how important it is to research an author’s background to ensure their credibility. This is a very important step in writing because today we can find information on a topic, however, it is not valid. By researching the author, we can see if he or she is an expert in the area and so this would make his or her information more credible. There is a ...
Thematic analysis is espoused to be the foundational approach to qualitative analysis and methods (Saunders et al., 2016 as stated in Braun and Clarke, 2006: 78) and it is a useful method used to identify and analyse the order and patterns of qualitative data (Attride-Stirling, 2001). Qualitative research method depicts the correlation that exists between data and events, creating the pictorial representation of what one thinks a given data says (Saunders et al., 2016). They also opined that, qualitative data analysis is cogent, interactive and iterative. Also, Joana and Jill (2011) and Saunders et al (2016) postulate that, qualitative research brings meanings from words and images as opposed to numbers. However, despite its robustness and rigour of its application, it is skewed more to the interpretivist ideologies since researchers draw conclusion from participants and the hypothesis being forecasted (Joana and Jill, 2011; Saunders et al., 2016).
Qualitative research is an approach that attempts to situate an activity that locates the observer in the world by providing the study to occur in their natural setting and by attempting to make sense of, or interpret information (Denzin and Lincoln, 2005). A characteristic of qualitative research is to use a variety of empirical materials such as personal experience, interviews, and questionnaires. It is imperative to understand the task at hand and how to fully carry out the study when using a qualitative research approach in order to find out the information needed. One view of qualitative research is it involves examining individual’s experiences and documenting those experiences in detail (Jones, 2011). By documenting these observations the researcher is ensuring validity in his or her data and giving the correct creditability to those who participated in the study.
A better use of the focus group method would have been to collect the responses of the PTs to the direct research question at the start of the study and again at the end. Doing this could have added much-needed validation to the process and results of the study. Procedures The author does a very good job of outlining the procedure. The procedure process is in detail enough to be replicated.
At the end of this class and this reflection period of these papers. I realised that I have become a better writer than I have ever been before, because I was finally able to take and recognize my mistakes in my papers. Which allowed me to to see where I needed to fix next to become the best writer I can be, which was shown to me during this time. Now with my new weapons of grammer, organizations, and MLA format I have a great foundation to propel my
Methods, which provide this type of data, include; interviews, observations as well as focus groups. The advantages of using Qualitative methods such as those listed previously is that they can produce “an extensive base of knowledge” to complex areas of research (Ulin et el. 2005, p.9) such as children’s behavior in school. Another advantage is it will often take place in a natural environment, thus making participants more likely to be more truthful and ther...
focused on the key qualitative research methods. For each article review, a brief description, guided by Myers (2013), and a critique, guided Pratt (2009), is provided. A summary of the five articles identifying the research method, data collection technique, data analysis approach and critique is provided in Table 1. The narrative review of each article coupled with figures and tables to organize and visualize thoughts (Pratt, 2009) follows the summary table.
The data collected from the small focus group discussions using of voice recording was transcribed, and data analysis was done through thematic synthesis method (Thomas & Harden, 2008). The transcriptions were coded, a process of labeling lines of text to enable the researcher with the aim of bringing similar ones together and grouping into broad themes. Moreover, the process continued to identify sub-themes and major themes, all registered in a codebook aiming to keep

This was the first organized research paper I had ever made. I learnt to accumulate and organize research data into useful information. This improved my skills to manage textual resources. Besides all this, I was able to study about something that I was really interested in. This experience has shown me the way to research on topics I want to know more about. I think now I can truly say, “Everything happens for a reason.”

What makes an incredible senior thesis? This question I would probably direct at the teacher for the course, or the individual who is actually going to evaluate my final project. I would ask this question to an authority figure over the subject of Senior theses, academics who have read previous St. Edward’s students final works and can distinguish between the moderate and highly successful projects. I would ask them to describe to me the sensation that they had while reading an amazing thesis.
Writing this paper has been rewarding to me. It has helped me come to know a different me. Set goals for myself and helped me put things into perspective.
Before beginning my first semester here at Vanguard I often found myself questioning why I believe what I believe. I had a hard time understanding the bible and an even harder time finding answers to my questions. It was difficult for me to find the courage to ask questions because I didn’t want to come off as someone who didn’t know everything about the bible. Once I started my freshman year I began understanding that I am not alone, every one has questions or things that they don’t quite understand. Encountering The New Testament broke down parts of the bible and made it much easier for me to understand.
This chapter discussed the reflection on the project and the wider implications of the project, and demonstrated the reflection on the MA experience. In a word, the major project and the MA experience gave me an extraordinary chance to carry on the higher education and learn new and advanced learning skills.
