Cornella Brothers is a large excavating company that does excavation in a multitude of aspects on the Colorado Front Range. This ranges from Pueblo to Fort Collins Colorado. The organization also owns a home building company, and is an investor in multiple ventures in the Colorado area. However, their bread and butter so to speak, are the excavation aspects of their company. The following will describe the organizations professional context, learner characteristics, and what their typical subject matter is.
Organizations Professional Context
A stakeholder is any individual or group that has an interest in the organization (Investopedia, 2014). Examples of stakeholders would be: employees, investors, the community, or even the government (Investopedia, 2014). A company the size of Cornella Brothers has a lot of stakeholders, the two largest being employees and investors. The community is also a large stakeholder for the company because the company has accomplished a deal of things for the community. They have built plenty of buildings and parks that help the community to better develop it.
The training that is typically involved at Cornella Brothers is in the form of safety classes. Due to the nature of the work it is imperative that the company ensures that employees always keep safety in mind. One way in which we do that at the company is to form a monthly safety meeting in which, we as the managers, formulate a class around a particular area of concern for us at the time. The managers have a month to decide what the meeting will be concerning and then develop the course accordingly.

We operate large equipment and there is a lot of room for human error, so it is important to keep constant reminders as to why safety is important for all stakeholders involved. Other areas in which we teach are job production and government regulations. In conducting these classes, the manager must keep in mind the audience. All the OSHA standards are listed in the CFR 1910 (general industry) and 1926 (construction) books. This can be a useful tool that can answer any questions an employee may have regarding safety. The book needs to be in an assessable location and the employees need to be given that location during the new hire orientation process. These books are very inexpensive, but they are good tools and a good quick reference to any OSHA safety regulation you need the answer for. If an employee wants to know anything about PPE or equipment safety, the CFR has the answer. I would suggest if the company does not have a copy of this book readily available for employees to look at, on a daily basis is necessary, that they buy one and educated the supervisors and managers on how to read and understand the information and standards outlined in the
