What is heart disease?
Heart disease, also known as coronary heart disease. Is a disorder of the blood vessels of the heart that could eventually lead to a heart attack. Heart attacks occur when one of the arteries become blocked preventing nutrients and oxygen from reaching the heart. What are the symptoms and effects?
Some symptoms include chest pain, shortness of breath, and a pain in your jaw. The heart disease symptoms may different for men and women. Men are more likely to have the chest main, while women are more likely to have shortness of breath. Are there genetic components? If so how do we determine who is at risk?
Hereditary factors play a role in coronary heart disease, that has been know. We can not tell if the increased risk is genetic or if it is the cause of an unhealthy family environment has not yet been established. Professor Kristina

This often requires special equipment that allows the surgeon to operate on the heart while it is moving. Beating heart surgery is appropriate for certain patients.
Arrested heart surgery – Most CABG surgeries are done through an incision in the chest while the heart is stopped and a heart-lung machine takes over the job of circulating the blood. This is called arrested heart surgery or conventional bypass surgery. Side effects of medications and treatment
Side effects may differ depending on which treatment or medications you do/take. The most common side effects include, diarrhea, rash, or itching, muscle aches, chest pain, and dizziness. How does heart disease affect our
As you know autoimmune diseases are your immune auto-generate antibodies against cells of your body. In here, I don’t tell physiology of autoimmune diseases but I will tell one of most autoimmune diseases that is immune fertility disease. Researchers at the University of Virginia Health System have found a new human protein, radical radial spoke protein 44 (RSP44) in July, 2007. RSP44 is antigen can be found in all men, residing in the sperm tail at the center of a structure known as the axoneme. Antigens can only stimulate antibody production when they come in contact with components of the blood. Under normal conditions, blood and sperm do not mix. Direct contact between the two is prevented by a cellular structure in the testes called
The effects of a disorder with insulin can be very grave because this hormone is very important to the body. First I would like to discuss Diabetes Type 1. This disease, also called juvenile diabetes, is usually diagnosed to children or young adults. Off all the people with diabetes, only five percent of the people have type one diabetes. 10Type one diabetes is a condition in which the immune system destroys the cells in the pancreas which produce insulin. Type 1 diabetes is not associated with lifestyle habit; and it is neither curable nor preventable. So you my reader could receive this disease and never know how you got it or how to prevent it! At least you can know when you get though. Some of the symptoms are excessive thirst and urination,
As you may or may not already know, diabetes is a non-communicable disease. Learning about diabetes interests me because my grandmother and grandfather are both diabetic. I see what they go through every day with pricking their finger, injecting insulin and watching what they eat. It seems to be a hassle, but for them- it’s their life.
The contributing factor is lack of knowledge and family medical screening. Understanding the history of your genetic line specific to your race and ethnicity may be helpful in preventing heart disease later on in adulthood.... ... middle of paper ... ... Current studies of note have focused primarily on middle-class and/or suburban populations.
You can reverse diabetes and don't let anyone tell you differently. If you are borderline diabetes, pre-diabetic, type 1 or type 2, you may be able to do what nobody thought was possible 10 years ago... cure your diabetes with your diet, exercise and supplementing the right minerals, vitamins and herbs.
The hereditary risk factors for cardiovascular disease are primarily those of which individuals are unable to control, the ones for which they are born with. These risk factors would include an individual’s sex, race, age, and genetics. One out of every five males has some form of cardiovascular disease and the same applies for females. More women than men have cardiovascular disease in this country, but this is only due to the fact that there are more women within the U.S. population (Weiss and Lonnquist, 2011). Men percentage wise are at a higher risk than women. There is a somewhat reduced probability for females to have cardiovascular disease before menopause. This is believed by medical researchers and scientists to be directly related to the natural hor...
(Main Point 3) After a long period of time, high blood sugar levels can have a serious effect on all the body's organs.
Heart disease describes a range of conditions that affect your heart. Diseases under the heart disease umbrella include blood vessel diseases, heart rhythm problems, and heart defects. The major cause of this is a build-up of fatty plaques in the arteries. Plaque build-up thickens and stiffens the vessel walls, which can inhibit blood flow through the arteries to organs and tissues.
Your genetic information determines the genes you inherit that may cause or elevate your risk of certain medical conditions. My family genogram clearly indicates the risk of developing type 2 diabetes (T2D), heart disease (HD), hypercholesterolemia (HC) and hypertension (HTN). Heart disease is indicated on both maternal and paternal side and even though T2D only shows on my paternal side, the other diseases such as HC and HTN that are on my maternal side are risk factors for developing diabetes. According to Pessoa Marinho et al. (2013), the genetic and environmental risk factors that influence T2D development are: “age, gender, ethnicity, family history, obesity, inactivity, gestational diabetes, macrosomia, hypertension, decreased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, increased triglycerides, cardiovascular diseases, micropolycystic ovary syndrome, high blood glucose on previous testing, impaired glucose tolerance and glycated hemoglobin ≥5.7%” (Pessoa Marinho et al., 2013, p. 570). Bianco et al. (2013) states, “the maternal influence confirms the hereditary role in the diabetes pathogenesis that women with positive family history to the illness presented...

Are you thinking of ways to stop heartburn? Well, before you take a bite of that piece of pizza, or go to your favorite buffet restaurant, learn some valuable ways to defeat heartburn. Heartburn affects 15 million Americans on a day to day basis. It's not much of a problem when people experience heartburn on occasion, it's when a person feels the symptoms on a more consistent basis (two or more days a week). People sometimes over look their symptoms thinking it's maybe something they've eaten.
Most people believe that biological factors play a huge role in members of a family becoming ill. We often think that our genetic makeup will ultimately lead our health down the same paths as earlier members of our families that have suffered from illnesses. While this concept may appear to be rather common, genetic factors show likelihood that the possibility is there, but not a certitude. In some cases of cardiovascular problems or cancer, having the genes create predispositions or proneness to a specific type of action; however, to say it would be without a doubt would be a fallacy.

Obesity is an issue that most people may be aware of, but I don't feel like many people actually know the ins and outs of it and how bad it really is. Although the speech that Jamie Oliver gave was about teaching children about food, I feel as if we need to teach adults about food just as much as children.
