I’m sure some people have never really taken a closer look in the extraordinary world of softball. “Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection!” These were the words spoken by ESPN’s Mike Breen during Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, describing one of the best defensive plays in NBA history. Hello, I am Steven Lai, and we are here today to celebrate LeBron James. We celebrate him because he is one of the greatest basketball players on the court and off the court. As a huge LeBron fan, I can tell you all why we are here to celebrate him. To celebrate LeBron James, I will talk about his accomplishments in the NBA, his social activism, and his charitable acts.
Most players that enter the NBA draft early are 19 or 20 years-old. They are going to end up playing against 25-year-olds that are stronger, faster, and that have had more experience than they have. Along with more experience, they will not be as physically fit because one or two years of college will not do it, and high school will not do it. For example, Lebron James. He is considered one of the best to have played the game, and he went straight out of high school. Imagine if he had gone to college, he would be so much better. So if they leave after the freshman or sophomore year, they will be about five or six years behind and that will make it harder to get a spot on the bench. If they do not make it to the bench, then they will be in the D league for 2 or 3 years to help develop their skills. “The D-League uses a tiered compensation system that's based on experience. Players with ample NBA
Have you ever wondered how sports medicine was started? And the history of it I’ll tell you
Attention Getter: Mia Hamm. Peyton Manning. Steve Nash. Here are just a few great athletes that most of us have heard of. But what is it that makes us look up to them? What is it that makes them great? The truth is that sports are only a small part of what makes a person worthy of looking up to.
“ He’s a once-in-a-lifetime guy.” Kevin Durant…The one and only Kevin Durant, one of the best basketball players in the world. If you think different I don't know what basketball you have been watching. Its unbelievable that he has been playing so long and since he started he was one of the best and he still is one of the best.
Michael Jordan once said “I will not let anything get in the way of me and my competitive enthusiasm to win”. This have help people of all ages get through their burdens and do something they love instead of doing some negative. For many people basketball has become more than a game, it’s the way of life. The American game of basketball has traveled now, it’s played by more than 250 million people worldwide.
When Kevin Durant won the MVP award in two thousand fourteen he said this as a part of his speech, “Dear Mom, We weren’t supposed to be here. You made us believe. You kept us off the streets, put clothes on our backs, food on the table. When you didn’t eat you made sure we ate. You went to sleep hungry. You sacrificed for us. You’re the real MVP.” I will write about a man who went through a lot to be the great basketball player that he is today. Kevin Durant was born September twenty ninth in nineteen eighty eight in Washington D.C. The reasons why I chose Kevin Durant for this project is becuase he is extremely humble, he went through a lot, he has done great things for society. In the end you will see why I chose Kevin Durant
You should be perpendicular to your target with the ball on the right side of your body lined up with your back foot
It was a beautiful sunny spring morning, and we were on are way to Springfield for our 4th grade field trip. The bus was very splendid with huge windows and T.V.s, and the 4th grade teachers had put on movies for us during our ride. I was so excited for our day,we were going to Abe Lincoln's house, The Lincoln museum, where Abe Lincoln was buried, and a log cabin town where Abe Lincoln lived when he was little.
We went to New Mexico for a week to build a playground. The trip was long and hot but it was worth it. The playground was going to be built at a Manuelito Najavo Childrens Home in Gallup, New Mexico. In the middle of their dorms. We arrived at a cottage and starting unpacking, choosing rooms, and all that. Dinner came, we all took showers and went to bed.
Once there was a little boy who loved to play sports, although he was never naturally talented at them. He was never the fastest, never the strongest, and most definitely never the most coordinated. He liked to play all sorts of sports; basketball, baseball, soccer, football, and track. But one sport stood above all, and that was basketball. Which was ironic because that was probably the sport he was least naturally talented in. That little boy was me.
Down two with six seconds to go fatigue had taken it tolls on the players. With little energy left; over time was not an option. I knew I had to go for the win. I walk on the floor confident of my ability that was until the whistle blew quickly turning my confident to butterflies. As I fought to get open I quickly saw the ball coming my way. As I rose for a jump shot time itself began to stay still. An in flesh everything became silent. As I watch the ball leave my hand I envisioned greatness; sure the ball was on its way in I started to celebrate that was until I hear the announcer say my teammate tip in miss shot to win us the game. Mix with emotion I celebrate with my teammate. “Ok guys, we have 24 hours until tip off. Get some rest because this is going to be the biggest game of your life. Let’s bring this championship back to Barton College. Go Bulldogs and Goodnight!” Why few players stay in the lobby to hang out I took it talk upon to work on my game and reflect on the semifinal game that just took place. At basketball games you will notice how there are all sorts of fans attending the game.
Can you imagine playing the game of basketball without a three point line? Basketball has constantly changed throughout history and continues to change today. The National Basketball Association has risen in popularity and is now one of America’s more popular sports. Because basketball continues to be a popular sport, a fan should learn about the origin of the NBA, how the game evolved from the late 1940s to the early 2000s, and how the players today impact the way it is played.
After we got off the airplane, we rented a car and drove to my Uncle Joe?s house. We finally got there and then we all went out to eat dinner. We went to some Italian restraunt and boy was it good. To this day, I have never tasted anything as good as the Veal Picata I had that day. I ate so much that I could hardly move and once I got back to my uncle?s, I just passed out and went to bed. I had a big and exciting day ahead of me. I was going to Universal Studios and I couldn?t wait.
