Softball Informative Speech

I’m sure some people have never really taken a closer look in the extraordinary world of softball. I'm certain that not too many people have gotten to know who invented softball,how you play,ruled or maybe what is the ball made of. In these few pages you can take a better look into the world of softball.

The big question for people who don’t play this question is really, what is softball? Softball is a little bit more modified version of baseball but softball is played on a smaller field,with a larger ball, played with 7 innings instead of 9 and with underarm pitch in a circular motion. Now that we know what the basic part of softball is let’s talk about the equipment. The equipment used to play softball is a bat about waist level give or

take a few an inch or two. You will also need softball. A softball is much bigger than a baseball, and it is neon yellow. A softball has various colored stitching,but in most ASA teams and most “professionals” use balls with red stitching. To play softball you also need a softball fastpitch glove for every player on the team.
You will also need 5 bases, 1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base, Home plate, and the pitchers mound plate.

So now that we have learned about what we actually need to play softball let's start with the positions in softball. First there is the Pitcher that is in the middle of the field in a circle called the pitcher's mound. Second there is a Catcher behind home plate. The Catcher catches passed balls and strikes. Then there's the First Baseman, the Second Baseman, and the Third Baseman. There is a Shortstop between 2nd and 3rd and a Left Fielder in the outfield between second and third. A Center Fielder which is in the outfield behind second, the Right Fielder which is in the outfield between first and second

base.

Or maybe alloy bats and composite bats The middle of the ball is called the “Cork”. The core of the ball is made of long fiber kapok, in 2004 high-visibility yellow optic covering. Alloy bat son the other hand, are thinner and have more responsive barrels. Alloy bats are also more durable because they are made of aluminum. Composite bats are made of a carbon fiber,graphite, and fiberglass, and some also have kevlar. Kevlar is a synthetic fiber of high tensile strength used especially as a reinforcing agent in the manufacture of tires and other rubber products and protective gear such as helmets and vests. There are many different parts of the bats which is a big part to make the player and who they are on the field. There is a knob which is the very base of the bat. Directly above that there is the grip for the players so they can grip the bat on the handle. Above the grip there is the barrel of the bat where the ball hits, it is also the thickest part of the baton top of that is the end cap on the end of the bat.
For people that don’t know how play softball here is how you play.there are two teams of 9 players or more at a maximum of probably a max of 15-16 players. They are trying to score more runs than the opposing team rounding bases and home plate as many times as possible. The batting team bats until the fielding team makes 3 outs on the other

team.

How was softball invented? The first person who invented this game was a guy named George Hancock. He made this game on Thanksgiving Day, 1887.This game, 100 years later, was known as the first softball game. Hancock watched a man throw a boxing glove (fielding glove) at another guy.It just so happened the other guy hit it with a pole (the bat)

There are over 60 professional teams around the world. Unfortunately, there are is no major league. There are Tee ball Ages: 4-5 years old, Minor league ages 7-11, Little League (Major Division) ages 9-12, Junior Division ages 12-14, Senior Division ages 13-16, and last but not least, the Big Leagues which are ages 14-18. Softball was most popular in the 2010’s and the popularity is still growing. It will most likely keep growing as well.

Now there is a special player that is one of the best in her league she made top 10 best players in the league, Jennie Finch. Jennie Lynn Finch is an American, former collegiate All-American, right-handed softball pitcher and first baseman from La Mirada, California. She pitched for the Arizona Wildcats, the USA national softball team and the Chicago Bandits. She was born in La Mirada, California on September 3, 1980. She is 6’0 tall and is married to Casey Daigle, and has 3 children. The person Jennie Finch is married to is Casey Daigle, he is a minor league baseball player. He was born on April 4, 1981. He is 6’6 and was born in Lake Charles High School.

There was a lot to learn now about the world of softball but now that you know when someone is talking about softball, or one of the best players in the league, instead of standing there now you can join the conversation. Even in your sitting around with friends now you can start the conversation of softball or tell them what a bat and what a softball is made of.
