There is that one day or several days in the year that you do not care about any problems around you. It is a magical time of the year and love is in the air. It is the day of the wedding. The thought of two people together always make me full of energy. Planning the wedding can take you weeks or even months, but it will be worth it. The places, parties, and even traditions are only the seeds of the watermelon. You should never feel lethargic and sluggish on this day because this shows that you don't believe in happiness and love. Be happy and never stop believing love. I have been to about 8-9 wedding my whole life and each time it is like I get more and more exuberant and exhilarated with the hope and faith. I wish one day that some other people can feel that feeling I feel and embrace the emotion and hope. Wedding are like a gift that can end up a

When I found out I qualified to be a candidate for the NJHS, I knew I had to take this chance. This group is made up of people who depict leadership, character, citizenship, academic success, and service and I would love to join. These characteristics wouldn't just be valuable for a candidate to have, but for everyone to have to exceed in life. If I were to be in the National Junior Honor Society, it would give me an opportunity to ameliorate my future and motivate me to do better.
Many people tend to use humor as a positive communication skill to make us laugh. It has long been used as a tool to navigate how we better understand media and politics. In today's crucial times of political chaos, social unrest and in-fighting between political parties, the use of Satire humor is more relevant than ever before. According to Oxford dictionary, satire is defined as the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues. In the last decade there has been a staunch increase in technology and a rise in social media, this comes with its own benefits and downfalls. The use of satire humor has been represented
Despite people celebrating marriage in different ways it all comes back to one thing; marriage is a social ritual that by which two people affirms one abiding contracts between. The ceremonies are composed of rituals which symbolize facets of married life and the obligations being undertaken. In Hinduism the marriage celebration can start weeks before the actual ceremony depending on the preferences of the family. Once the day of the ceremony comes around the day starts with the brides’ family welcoming the groom into their home and both families are formally introduced. Good morning teachers, faculty, administrators, family, friends, and of course students. It is a great privilege to be standing here today and representing our class on our eighth grade Class Day. Can you believe it? Four years ago, most of us walked into this school as nervous as we were the first day of school. We were the tiny fifth graders, the youngest students in this middle school, not knowing where anything was and how to navigate the school. Now, those same four years later, we’re leaving this school behind to a whole new school being just as nervous as we were when we first arrived. It has been a long four years as well as a short four years. Long because of all the tests, quizzes, finals, and projects, but short because of the lifelong friendships, the lasting memories, and the truly interesting and amazing things we learned in-between. The Abington Heights Middle School is definitely a welcoming, fun, memorable, and great school that I will never forget. These four years spent with these wonderful classmates has been an extraordinary journey with many cherishable memories.
According to Gazzaniga, Heatherton, and Halpern in Psychological Science, an effective to regulate emotion is through humor (430). Humor allows individuals to distance themselves from negative emotions and can strengthen social connections to others (Gazzaniga, Heatherton, and Halpern 431). In Native American communities, laughter and humor are often utilized to cope with stereotypes imposed upon Native Americans by non-Native people. Illustrations of this occurrence can be found throughout works by Native peoples, such as that by Sherman Alexie. These sources involve Native Americans embracing, rebelling against, and bringing attention to stereotypes about who they are and who the can be, all while using humor to cope with the emotions involved
Before the actual wedding took place, several things had to happen. The bride had to get engaged. Engagement before the wedding was considered a good manner but wasn’t always required. The couple would then have to choose the date they would get married on. A lot of care went into choosing the date of the wedding because there were days that were considered both lucky and unlucky. When the wedding day came around many things took place. On the wedding day, the bride partook to many things, including the morning of preparation, which typically involved picking flowers for her hair and getting dressed.
One of the important differences between the ways weddings are celebrated by Vietnamese and Americans is preparation. According to the culture, Vietnamese wedding first begins by choosing a date and time for the marriage ceremony which is matched to both bride’s and groom’s ages in the oriental zodiac. For example, I am married to a man who was born in the year of the cat, and I was born in the year of the pig. We therefore are two of three matched ages including pig, cat, and goat, so the best time for our wedding is the time of goat. Moreover, before the wedding day, the groom’s family would make a trip to the bride’s home to inform the best date for the wedding ceremony. After wedding date was informed, bride and groom start sending invitations to their guests. Vietnamese wedding uses lunar calendar for the ceremony and invitations for their guests at the wedding parties, even though people in Vietnam use both western and lunar calendars. On the other hand, Americans prepare their weddings by the most favorable day for both bride and groom which mostly happen on the weekend. Many American brides also have bridal showers before their weddings. For example, my next door neighbor in America had a bridal shower about more than one month before her wedding. After that, she and her fiancé started sending in...
If we just try to imagine having to walk down the aisle or watch someone walk down the aisle that we know nothing about and soon we are going to be wed and living our lives together,we could imagine that to be frightening or even angering. Who wants to marry someone they know nothing about? What if we were to hate one another? We would then be living an unhappy life unless we could get a divorce. But what if we couldn’t?
First of all, the man who is going to be the groom and his parents or his respected elders must go to the bride’s house and ask the bride’s parents for permissions to marry their daughter. Then they will make a deal of how much money the groom has to give to the bride on their wedding day. After that they will go to a monk to ask for an appropriate wedding date. And when the date is arranged, the wedding will be prepared by the parents and relatives of both sides.
It is something everyone wants, not many have, and few want to give. Most people would appreciate "just a little bit," and most should give just that. Unfortunately, a lot of the time, this does not happen. Perhaps this is because the concept of respect is not understood. What exactly is respect? The dictionary defines it as an act of giving particular attention or high or special regard. This does not explain what it is; it only outlines what it may be. In general, though, respect can be broken down into three main forms.
If there is one way to bring a smile to someone’s face, it is laughter. Funny jokes, comical stunts, sarcasm- Every person is different when it comes to what makes them laugh. Some find dry humor comical. Others think sarcasm or joke-filled ranting are the best. ‘Comedy’ is such a broad term, broad enough to allow everyone to find something they find comical. In fact, ‘comedy’ includes a specific type of drama, one where the protagonist is joyful and happy endings are expected. Comedy is like a drug; it allows you to escape reality. When we say the word ‘comedy’ in the present, we are generally referring to a type of performance which provides humor. However, in its broadest sense, comedy has only one purpose: comedy makes people smile and
Holidays are a celebration and an enjoyment of festivities. Although they are a commonality across the world, holidays differ between countries and cultures. But, what many do not realize is that holidays are ultimately ideology driven, that is that the group that celebrates these holidays follows a certain set of ideas and beliefs. Whether the ideology is religion based, or politically based, all holidays are centered around ideologies.
