Social informatics is a research that contains the aspects of computerization. A different definition is “The more disciplinary input of the design uses technology that contains institutional contexts.” Social informatics can be defined as a systematic analysis or critical research. Information technology has developed very fast for the last century. The developments has supported with new theories and more useable technology. Technology is the most contributed benefits on social informatics. Information systems are becoming safer and faster with technology.

Paper-based documentation is expensive because the company must spend financial resources for both the cost of the materials and the labor power of managing them. In addition more storage requires a lot of space, and filing, re-filing is time-consuming. A final consideration includes the impact on the environment. We can see that most of old people including my grandparents are still using paper documents for example calendar, reminder, to do list, or etc. so it cost just papers and pen for them. What about business? I cannot imagine how much is the paper-based documentation cost for huge businesses? Tons of papers, copy devices, printers, labor, and maintenance costs. Shipping paper-based documents is also expensive too. Why do we get paperless bill offers from banks or other our bills? I don’t think they are really worrying about trees, and green environment. They are thinking more about decreasing paper-based documentation costs and saving million dollars. Social networking changed from writing letters and sending through postal services versus electronic mail through various websites. Researching through internet has become easier through accessing the World Wide Web versus research through index cards and reading books. The effect of information technology today is unbelievable, the consequences information technology has on people, relationships, children, jobs and so many more. People are so dependent upon technology that we cannot live without information technology. . Everybody has cell phones, tablets, iPad’s, laptops, compared to back in the day where everything was done manually. Back in the day there were only house phones and that was the only way people communicated with each other. But now, nobody really uses house phones. Most people don’t even have house phones anymore. Everyone in the household most likely has cell phones, tablets, and laptops; that can be helpful to communicate with each other. Information technology has been helpful but hurtful in some ways especially when pertaining to children. In today’s world almost every child has a tablet, iPod, etc. and even cell phones.
