The Importance of Physical Education

Everyone knows that physical fitness is important to his or her health. Former President, Thomas Jefferson once said, “Exercise and recreation are as necessary as reading. I will rather say more necessary, because health is worth more than learning,” physical education helps students improve their knowledge about health issues and will lead them to a healthier lifestyle. Although, some schools do not require students to participate in physical education classes. Physical education should be regulated in the weekly schedule of young students. Some students don’t want to participate in physical education because they are worried about other subjects such as language and math. Oppositions say that students participating in physical activity take away from learning in other academic classes. Obesity is becoming a major concern in America. Obesity in youth and adults is steadily rising. With teenage obesity as prevalent as it is, it is imperative that physical education be mandatory. Physical education classes will help improve the physical healthiness across America. It is important for people to learn how to keep themselves in proper physical condition. Everyone should participate in physical education to learn about and prevent obesity. When students are required for physical activities throughout school and learn the benefits of them, working out will be a weekly routine as they grow up.
