Perseverance is the continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failures, or opposition. Lance Armstrong quotes it as “ Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it will last forever.” Perseverance is a big part of everyone's life we all have gone through it at one point or another. The movie ”Home” does a great job at illustrating this in a fun and easy way that children and adults can both understand and enjoy.
In the movie “Home” there are many illustrations of perseverance. The two main characters Tip and Oh both had to persevere in some situations of both little and great importance. Tip throughout
It was a long process and I never got professional help but I didn't need it. I had many people come to my rescue whether they knew it or not. Becoming more comfortable in my new environment at school I began to talk to people and I met ,my now best friend, Brienna. Brienna introduced me to Cedar Creek Church and their student youth group program called Fusion. It was there that I first started to believe in God. That next summer I went to visit my dad and when I went to his church I really started to understand and believe more. Over the next few years I gained strength and confidence and faith. Soon the fake smile I always put on turned into a real smile. Most people wouldn't even know that I went through that but a lot of them were the ones who stopped it. I would never want to go through that again but I am kind of thankful that I
Im thankful that I was able to be surrounded by the support group and family I have today. Many relationships I have are so much more valuable to me as are a lot of the lessons i’ve learned by going through that. That obstacle was important to me because without it I wouldn't be the person I am today. I would be the scared little girl in the back of the class with all the family issues who never sticks up for herself or others and doesn't have any friends. It was so important for me to persevere through that because had I not I wouldn't be here today as dark as it is I probably would have taken my own life. Today I know i'm important to others, i'm loved , and I would be greatly missed. We all have to persevere everyday whether it is getting up in the morning and going to school, depression, anxiety, or just finishing the plate of blazing wings to win a shirt at Buffalo Wild Wings. It's an important part of everyone's life and we can't live without
Throughout the book, Peter demonstrates that he can persevere through these situations. For example, he is a fourteen-year-old who is capable to go into the Peel Tower located in Cumberland just to find Tom Boyd “We must find out ㇐ if we can possibly get inside” (Trease .179). Peter does not know how risky it possibly is if he searches for Tom. Peter is willing to risk his life for Tom. Since he has no idea what to expect in the Peel Tower, he is unsure if Tom is still there or not. This is an example of perseverance because he is not afraid and continues to try to look for him, even though this is very risky, he still is relentless to strive for the best he can do. Additionally, this is not the only time Peter has risked his life, in fact, there were tons of times throughout the novel when he jeopardizes his own life. Such as the time when he snuck into the “Yellow” Gentlemen’s house and got his stolen playback, returned to him. When Peter was climbing the side of the house during a substantial situation, it shows his heroic qualities. Peter’s state of mind can sometimes be unimaginable as he said: “Each time I put my weight on a fresh dagger, my heart went into my mouth and I nerved myself for the splash below”(Trease .132). Taking such pressure comes with enormous responsibility, but do it alone, takes perseverance for a fourteen-year-old like him. Finally, despite the suffering he was put through, he has the ability to endure the struggles and continues to persevere his journey with many more challenges to
“Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no help at all. Dale Carnegie believed that perseverance could overcome even the harshest obstacles. Perseverance is inspired by a purpose, an unsatisfied drive to achieve a goal. During a cataclysmic event, only people with a purpose endure.
Some people are born with it, others are not so lucky. It’s the feeling of raw bravery and a want to be the best. A way of always seeing the light even before the dawn. People often mistake it for just “never giving up”, but this is much more, almost a superpower. Perseverance is not just the optimisty of dreamers it’s knowing how to live, even when you’d rather be dead.
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines perseverance as the continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition. In today’s society, there are so many walls and barriers that prevent humans from achieving their dreams and goals and people begin giving up. However, great poets such as Homer and famous music groups such as Mumford and Sons have used the strife of humanity to compose works that can be used to inspire and institute hope for humanity. With perseverance, there are three key aspects, struggle, loyalty, and strength. The struggle is what allows humans to learn, grow, and better themselves, the loyalty demonstrated provides motivation for success, and the personal strength allows the person to build
Just imagine undertaking an important mission without ever giving up. Aengus from the Song of Wandering Aengus undertook the mission to search and find his true love. In the Trials of Apollo, Apollo attempted to save the Oracles and stop the beast. Michael, Bryson, and Sarah's mission in the Eye of Minds, was to stop the evil Kaine from destroying and hacking the world. However, all three had lots of perseverance, after many failed attempts and challenges, they never gave up.
Many people encounter perseverance throughout their life in certain events. Buck from the Call of the Wild, is taken from a place like home to him and thrown into a harsh environment he is not used to. Similar to that, my mom was living a normal life when suddenly she had to stay strong for the family due to her brother near death from a tragic wreck. Even though they differ, both had to adapt to the life changing experiences and stay mentally strong.
Another example of my perseverance can be seen in my undergraduate grade trend. My first semester of college was extremely difficult. I am a first generation higher education student and I had to rise to an entirely new level of difficulty and competition in my courses and overall environment compared to high school. In addition, I missed my family; it was my first time away from home and my three brothers. I worked immensely hard that fi...
Many people show perseverance, including me. I showed perseverance when I failed a quiz and I knew to get my grade up I had to work harder and study more. I knew if my parents found out that I failed a quiz they would yell at me and would be disappointed on me for getting a bad grade on a quiz because I didn’t study. This factor contributes me to work harder, I learned that I need to work harder to succeed, like Salva, how he showed perseverance by looking for his family.
There’s an event in everyone's life that changes you, whether it be a simple hello or a death in the family. Tragically, mine begins with my mother marrying her second husband. The lessons I learned from this man shaped me into the person I am today. I came from a bad situation and he took my family in and and showed me that not every man is the same. Perseverance, the ability to forgive, and willingness to change your life for the better are just some of the things he taught me. If it weren’t for the little talks we had I wouldn’t be hopeful that I am, that I will turn my life around.
A specific case is Jennifer Eagan subjecting herself to constant literary critique, a situation that many would avoid. The difference between Eagan and others is one thing, she wanted to improve. In order to improve one must face challenge. In reality everyone faces a difficult situation at some point in their life, but the severity depends on the person. Some may perceive an AP class to be difficult while others might say that sitting in class has a certain level of difficulty. These situations don’t create perseverance because one puts themselves in front of every difficult situation, but instead because they make a habit of it. It is the act of unconsciously carrying out habitual actions that creates perseverance, not intentionally putting oneself in difficult
One generation can learn many things from another. For instance, they can learn to persevere, have faith. And be generous.
Perseverance is a very powerful word, many people go through hard times and don’t make it to see the other side. My story of perserverance starts sophomore year during football season. As two-a-days started everyone was excited to get through and get to play our first football game. As the season progressed I started feeling pains in my shoulder constantly; a few weeks go by with the pain continously getting worse. I specifically remember the first incident during a game, it was against White Oak about half way through the third quarter, as I was running to go make the play, as I dove to make the tackle I landed on my side and I felt a pop, not thinking anything about it I got up. When I reached my two feet something just didn’t feel, my shoulder

But through it all, I am glad i developed through life the way I am, getting my first real job really help me but my best foot forward into the working world of being in adult. I learned a lot of new things, especially the darker and brighter parts of it all. It really helped push me to do other things that I was afraid to do, like getting my license and my car. I thank my father and my mother for being an influence even if it was negative a lot more than I would have liked. All of these events changed me and made me the man i am today, and I would never go back and change any of
