The indoor environment-first and foremost the indoor environment needs to be safe, and it needs to be all inclusive. This means that every child, no matter their age race, ethnicity, gender or abilities or special education needs, can all play. When considering the layout of the indoor area it needs to be spacious and it needs to accommodate children continuous change of interests and abilities so that children are able to grow and learn. If the indoor environment stayed the same each day, children would not be stimulated, they would get bored and they would not develop their learning. it provides different play and children can face new skills and challenges. outdoor play does not just mean the garden, it progresses further for example, the park, walks, shopping malls, day trips out and much more. it gives children the opportunity for healthy exercise and the opportunity to learn more about the world and nature. To begin with, children will have less restrictions than being indoors, they have more space as large scale play can be provided. It also allows children to be able to use all of their senses, sight, hearing, smells, and they can enjoy the sense of being free and not restricted indoors. Let’s pause for a second, let’s take a look what nature has for us. It is beautiful and yet harmless. Kids’ don’t spend the sufficient time to intake the benefits of nature. He is saying to let our kids free and explore on their own. It is what brings fun to their lives. Knowing what comes next it’s pretty boring. As a teacher in early childhood development, I believe that the teacher skills and personality influence how children understand, observe and react to the classroom environment and the world around them. Even though part of teacher responsibilities are academic, daily interactions that encourage social, emotional and physical development are important. One of a quality effective early childhood educators’ characteristic is that they should have patience.
When building a classroom, the indoor learning environment will be influenced by the building and play area that surrounds the building. A classroom needs to have adequate space for children to play, explore and learn. Children need to have continuous access to water, bathrooms and a sink for handwashing. Although each room or center will be different they need to maintain areas that are easily and safely supervised from all areas of the classroom. The space needs to be organized into learning centers with well-defined areas. Areas such as science, art, sensory, bathrooms and eating areas need to be near a water source. Other areas such as block areas, library and housekeeping should be kept in areas with large area rugs or carpet.
My own attitudes, values and beliefs towards children learning and development are to be sensitive and easy approached. Have friendly staff that relates to children well and are friendly and vetted. To have a structure routine so that children know what they are doing so they are not stressed out. Do regular observations on children to see what their development stage is at and do active listen towards the children to show that their opinion matters. Have equality and diversity in the setting so that everyone is accepted.
The children are put through different learning experiences and tasks, for the professionals to evaluate and observe their different development stages. My first reason is that children should choose their own activities. This gives them the freedom to express themselves through their actions. With organized activites, children have to deal with schedules, parental control, and rules. Creative play allows kids to express who they are with the activities they want to choose. As children open up their minds, they are able to learn skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and independence.
