Teamwork is a positive interaction between members of the group having the ability to help other people to achieve common goal. Group work plays a vital role in the clinical field especially for nurses, because healthcare providers need to coordinate and discuss information for the continuity of care of their patients. I can recall a good experience. When I worked in the hospital before, me and the team always keep in mind that having teamwork in the unit, people can accomplish tasks effectively and efficiently and creates a good working environment. For instance, my colleagues were very approachable and focus on two way communication where we are able to share information and knowledge. If somebody is behind and having so much workload to do at the end of the shift, some of my co-workers would offer help such as taking the obs of the patient. However, Based on my personal its not always the case. I also have a negative experience. I remember when I was having my placements in different hospitals as a student nurse. In the Philippines, nursing is a four year course. I have to do lots of assessments that include research studies and case presentations. It will be easier and faster if those assessments were done in groups. For instance, before graduating, we have to passed in a thesis assessment. When things go south in the hospital that is where you can see a true team play out. There is always a clear goal, although sometimes the goal is changed during the process. It is always clearly announced when this happens. Communication although it can be very difficult is achieve. There may be a doctor giving orders, but there is an incredible thing that happens in an unsuccessful code. There is the difficult point that happens of when do you stop? Has something been missed or forgotten something that should have been tried? There is respect for all team members. They can clearly communicate without feeling persecution.
The easiest part of working on a team was the teamwork. The phrase “two heads are better than one,” played a key role all throughout this project. Having five minds set on a specific goal, you have more access to ideas. Looking at everyone’s perspectives can expand the likelihood of quality innovation. Our team created an environment of support, and boosted each other’s confidence, allowing us to do our best possible work. Having teamwork allows everyone’s talents to be brought to the table. Working in groups can be a very positive or very negative experience. How a group functions together determines how positive or negative that experience becomes. All go through four stages of development, forming, norming, storming, and performing.. Unfortunately for our group, many of the members experienced some of these stages together and other missed out on that opportunity of original growth. Kirst-Ashman and Hull describe these stages as a pattern of development. This allows the group members to see how they are working together but also allows observers to see what stage the group is stuck on. I had hoped for my group to develop past the first stage of development quickly, however as a whole we couldn’t seem to get over this limbo of being a forming or norming group. Our group was not the best functioning, but working together taught me the important pieces of being a group member as well as working within a group.
Teamwork happens when you develop a trusting relationship with your co-workers. In the nursing field you depend on others around you to accomplish the goals for the patients. I was the leader of the team during a code blue situation and it was successful because the patient survived. I am calm in stressful situations and I am able to calm those around me.

As a child, we learn teamwork is an essential part of our everyday activities. It is an aspect that becomes even more crucial as we enter into the adult world. To work alongside others with respect and understanding leads to trust and wellbeing.
During my study I also thought I knew what teamwork was, but actually my understanding related more to “working in a group” instead of working as a team. If you work in a team, other players should help you grow, understand you as an individual person and understand the way you think and work. This will create harmony in a group and that will lead to better results and motivated team players. Whenever I look back to my days when I had to work in a group, I always felt that nobody really cared about their peers and just thought they were working as a part of a team, but instead it was all out of individual interest. Due to my internship, I worked with a team of 10 people and I could feel the differences during meetings and how everything fitted into one picture as a whole. Meetings had a real structure and everybody was given the time to speak instead of only two people speaking and all the others were just attending (like in my previous study projects). I hope I can use these skills in a future study related project.
Teamwork is key in many situations in a workplace. Without it, many tasks could not get done and efficiency would go way down. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you are working with a huge group of people, teamwork could be between two people. Without cooperation, however, no two or more people could get anything done, or would at least do it very poorly. When you are part of a workplace that consists of more than yourself you are inevitably going to work with others. Even the CEO of a company has to meet and work with others from time to time. So teamwork is a vital part of your ethicality in a work environment and should be readily available to you at a moment 's notice. Each member had varying personalities. Student A is an Implementer, Student B is shaper and I am a completer finisher and a shaper. The broader spectrum of our diversities was an added advantage for the group. This ensured the management of our weaknesses and actualization of strengths. We could focus on various aspect of the group work and discuss disadvantages we faced along the line. The mix of my personality made me a lot more edgy. I was a perfectionist, pushy, and admit irritated to unfinished duties and worried. My drive for a perfect work was visible and I admit caused some tension.
