Don’t take our word for it - see why 10 million students trust us with their essay needs.
I learned a lot while recording my time log every day for ten days. I would have never guessed all of the things I do in a measly twenty four hours. I also learned how well I can procrastinate. I also learned how procrastination isn’t always the best choice. I originally assumed I did nothing with my day but sat around and went to my classes. The outcome turned out to be slightly different than I anticipated. One thing that really stood out to me was how much time I spend with my friends. One night I stayed up way too late watching a movie right before a game day! This was a horrible idea. My body hated me for depriving it of the hours of sleep I usually give it. It does make me happy to see all of those hours with my friends, regardless …show more content…
I play my favorite sport three times a week. I always find time for all of my friends. One of my favorite pass times is to lay in bed and watch Friends, or stare at my phone to see my favorite youtubers entertain the world. Even my homework can be fun for me to do in my free time. After this experience, I find that my free time isn’t wasted after all. I explained how rugby fulfilled my physical goals earlier in my essay. I have many goals that my use of time fulfills as well. I hope to have at least all B’s for my first year. My use of free time for homework shows I am putting forth effort to make my goal accomplishable.
Another short term goal is to experience more on compass. With what free time I have I would love to see what activities Western has to offer me. I want to explore the rec, to further my physical health. I would love to take a class like yoga or an intense ab workout. I would love to go to all of the art exhibitions and activities. The farmer 's market always sounds so pleasant to me. I’ve heard of concerts that would be amazing to go to. Any of the Western sport team’s games would be fun to go to just to support our school. There are so many things I could be spending my time doing, and i am hoping that I use my time here at college
The thing that brings me the greatest joy is physical activity. I love outdoor sports and working out in the gym. During my school years I actively took part in football and basketball competitions, and then with the growing awareness about fitness and general health turned towards the gym. Working out in the gym proves to be a stress buster for me, provides me with increased energy levels and gives me enhanced confidence. This helps me to focus more clearly and bring situational awareness to all my endeavors. My quest to keep testing my limits gives me the confidence to handle new challenges and strive for excellence in all my goals. Exercise and other physical activities keep me calm and make me feel at
I have many goals as an Athletic Training Student, and continuing my education is the biggest goal in order to be successful in my career and future goals. Eventually, I will earn a doctorate and go on to work at a professional level with a major league soccer team. I also aim to increase the knowledge and awareness of mental health within the field of athletic training.
For example, organizing my calendar where I have the time blocked out when I am in class, driving, the hours I will be studying, the time that I will spend getting Avery ready for bed and her school work done, etc. by having this all planned out in such detail maybe this will help me stay on track for efficient time management. Also, logging my time and keeping track of where I spend my time can also help me see where I can spend more time doing something more productive. (Chapman,2008) Setting priorities and learning to focus not only what is urgent and important but also activities that are important but might not be urgent, like Avery’s gymnastics or her 4H club meetings. Making a “to do list” would be helpful in helping me remember what needs to be done and what I would like to get done and finding time in my organized calendar to do so. (Chapman, 2008) Also, I should try to avoid multi- tasking, I am a mother which means I am a great multi tasker, I can cook dinner, do laundry, and give a bath all at the same time, although sometime the dinner gets a little burnt. But according to Chapman, multi-tasking is actually not a time saver but rather you lose time when you switch to different tasks. Trying to stick to one task at a time may be helpful in learning more effective time management skills. All of
Pieper describes work as “that which gives man’s workday its name” (Pieper, 15). He also says, “it has a practical purpose, it produces utilitarian goods, it contributes to the common useful wealth…” (Pieper, 19). What Pieper means here I think is that, anything that we do that gives us satisfaction and provides for our daily needs so we may remain alive, is what is called work.
Another great way to waste time is to daydream. I can sit for fifteen minutes or more before I realize that I should be doing something else. I usually think about something that happened that day, and then imagine an alternate ending. Or I will imagine calling someone on the phone, and play out the entire conversation in my head. Sometimes I look out the window and look at all the trees, clouds, squirrels, or even the grass in my backyard. This is a great procrastination method when combined with a simple cleaning task, like cleaning out a backpack.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, camping, fishing, hiking, building model wooden ships, the longest took me 3 years to build. When I lived in California I enjoyed riding horses, packing in the back country, as well as gathering cattle with friends.
When I am at my placement, I demonstrate this area of learning when I write reports. I need to manage my time wisely when I’m typing up reports because I need to make sure that I finish by the end of that workday.
Suddenly, the ten minute technique stopped working. I would sit down, and get distracted, or do anything but my assignment. This was when I realized that this habit would take a lot longer to break than I originally thought. The one good thing about my procrastination, is that it led me to another discovery about myself. Receiving feedback can be hard.
As easy as it would be to go straight into the details of how athletics and activities have influenced my life, I first need to establish that athletics and activities are my life. While travelling across the East Coast playing softball, attending club meetings and events, and going to volleyball practice, I have learned and experienced more than most would in a mere seventeen years. I have been impacted by phenomenal people, players and coaches alike, who have motivated me to do more, to be better, and to become the person that I need to be. Of course, a coach will always push his or her team to raise the bar, but it is less often that you find one who sets a bar for the character of his players. My travel softball coach is not an easy man
Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Additional goals that I have set for myself are to complete homework assignments by the time they are due, reading assigned material before it is discussed in class, doing well in each of my courses this semester, successfully participating in extracurricular activities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, getting a position as an engineer, and becoming a leader within both the engineering community and the general community. A world-class engineering student woul...
Being active consists of a strong, healthy, body. I have set this as another one of my goals because being active and playing sports does not just improve your health, but also improves your brain power. This allows you to do a lot better in school, which could also improve your grades. Another reason I chose being active as one of my goals is because I have lupus and having lupus requires staying fit, being healthy, and regularly exercising to decrease chances of having a flare up. To do this, I intend to play soccer this year and continuously stay active on days I am not practicing or playing. Although I do occasionally exercise, I know I could be a lot more fit. Unlike the past years, I am determined to play soccer this year and maintain a healthy diet and body. An obstacle that may interfere with my goal is an injury. Injuries can trigger depression and cause discouragement, sadness and anger. If this occurs I will keep a positive mindset and and accept the situation. I will stay involved with friends and teammates to prevent myself from feeling isolated. I will also regularly work out alternative muscle groups that will allow me to still be engaged and active so I can achieve my
Learning that having good time management skills has shown me that I can take my time and accomplish more. When relating this to school, I can honestly say that starting early is the best gift that I can give myself. As a full-time student with a family and a full-time job, my time is a limited resource (Britton & Tesser, 1991 pg.405). When I start early on an assignment, I don't have to rush and if I mess up, I can start over or seek help if necessary. My work schedule doesn’t always agree with my school schedule but for the most part, I try to have all of my school work completed by Thursday. As I'm approaching the last week in this class, I have began to look over the discussion posts first and then I look over the complete section to familiarize myself with the material before I even go to the read section (Chambers, 2015 pg.4). I found that to be especially helpful when I first began this class because the things that I already knew or felt like I knew, I went ahead and did it.
Firstly, in summary, good physical wellness is defined as follows: confidence in your personal ability to take care of health problems while living an active and healthy (proper diet, maintaining body weight, avoiding drugs, etc.) lifestyle measured by your ability to carry out ordinary and unusual demands of daily life safely and effectively. As of now, I would say that my physical
We learned about money management and time management, smarter reading and note-taking, working in groups, using available resources effectively, making plans for life and of course, being happy. I found those extremely useful. They are not only for this class, but also for a working environment, for our daily life. One of my weakness is procrastination, which is the biggest challenge for me to achieve my goals. From the beginning of this quarter, I set up an daily agenda, and I had been using it for the whole quarter! It is amazing for me to get in the habit of making agenda and do work according to it. Time blocking, another strategy presented in class is useful, which reduces my
Along with playing sports, hanging out with family is most important to me because you never know how long they will be around. I also like hanging out with my
