“Self awareness is a state of being where you deeply understand your thoughts, emotions and behaviours and how they affect people and the world around them. When people are self aware they move beyond simply existing or reacting to their environment to deliberately living a fulfilling and meaningful life. People get to know the real of them and do things that reflect who they are deep inside” (Source: internet).
The better they know themselves, then the better they will be able to decide what they are thinking and what decisions they are going to make in life. As we all know that it takes time to understand ourselves because everyone is so busy in their own life that they hardly have time to think about their own selves. If a person is self aware then they will be able to handle any problem in life with a happy face. Self awareness is very important because it makes us better people. Some ways which can make nurses better people are ‘empathy, admission, man in the mirror, tolerance, humility and likability’ (source:,,,,,,,,,,,,,). To begin with empathy, it is the ability to see when nurses make mistakes which allows other people to think and make decisions about them. Admission is when people make mistakes but they will not want to admit that they have made mistakes. People hardly realize that they are wrong at first place. They will always think that they are right and if they make some mistakes, they will try to blame others for their mistakes. In conclusion it can be said that therapeutic relationship is very important and which is the first care in nursing care. If a nurse is able to carry out the therapeutic relationship well then the nurse and the client will not face any problem during the course. Emotional intelligence is also very important in nursing care that is everyone should be able to control their emotions so that when taking care of the patient it is not a problem, this is most common with the first year nurse because that is the first time when they sees such cases and they are not able to control their emotions. Reflective tool plays a very important role in nursing care.
