Hello friends and family, and welcome to the graduation of the class of 2017 I would like to thank all of you for being here not only tonight, but every other night we have needed a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on as we concur the adversities and mountains that life faces us with. As an avid hiker and a participant of the 100-mile wilderness hike, I very well know the feeling of reaching the top of a mountain and the sense of accomplishment which comes with it. Tonight, this is the top of our mountain, it is the night celebrating all of the false summits and steep inclinations which we overcame, all of the points where it would have been easier to just give up and go back the way we came. Tonight my classmates and I enjoy the bittersweet …show more content…
In hiking, it is believed that going up is the hardest while the downhill is smooth sailing yet this is not always true. The down may sometimes become the trickiest and most dangerous part of the trail not because of the terrain but because of hikers tendency to become complacent. The same can be said in life. The downhill is where people become satisfied with simply good enough, they settle for proficiency rather than striving to accomplish their full potential. To my classmates behind me and every member of the audience, I ask you please do not let your accomplishments end with simply one summit. Concur new mountains and accept new challenges with an open and dedicated mindset. Persevere through all of the frustrations, temptations to take the easy way and distractions which may hinder your ability to reach your …show more content…
Throughout the past 7 years there have been struggles and successes both for the class of 2017 as a whole and each one of us as individuals, but yet here we are sitting on this stage awaiting our diplomas. Through these 7 years, we have learned many things, both in the classroom and outside of it, but our learning does not stop here when we receive our diplomas, our responsibilities do not stop here, and most importantly our perseverance to overcome adversity does not stop here. We are only given one life and we are given complete freedom in how we live that life; the choice is ours. Everyone will make different decisions regarding their future, but make those choices
At some point in life most people have allowed at least one challenge to defeat them, if not more. Then there are those people who view these challenges as simply that, a challenge. This was the theme throughout Kyle Maynard’s novel, No Excuses, I learned that it is how we go about conquering these challenges that defines us as people. Throughout his novel he notes things will not always come easily; therefore, it is up to us to dig deep and conquer our goals. By finding alternate routes and adjusting your mindset, we are able to achieve any goal we set our minds to. Because it is not the obstacle that holds us back but it is ourselves that keeps us from fulfilling our greatest
Good evening family, friends, teachers and fellow graduates. This special night marks our achievement over the past thirteen years. Tonight we come to the top of a mountain in our lives and look ahead to the numerous more to come. It seems like just yesterday we were eighth graders in middle school, wishing we were twelfth graders in high school. (You have to remember that back then we didn't know if a freshman meant you were in twelfth grade or if a junior meant you were in ninth.) We've definitely come a long way to be where we are today. Being students at Wilson, "The School of Pride," has helped us all with our climb over Mt. Education. Learning the basics to climb Mt. Education didn't just start in high school; it began a long, long time ago. Our first experience with the climb started out in our six years of base camp, formally known as elementary school. The next stage in our climb was when we were able to climb the part of the mountain with the gentle slope. The smooth slope of the mountain took us a whole three years to accomplish. As you have probably guessed, the gentle slope was middle school. These were the steps we took to get to our third stage in our climb of reaching the peak of Mt. Education, also known as high school.
For one goal in life there is a multitude of setbacks that come with it, and there is no other way around it. The ones who complete their goals never said this too hard or it’s not worth all of this work. They went head on and faced the walls in their way.Two great examples of people who finished great goals and surpassed the many demanding trails are Kira Salak and Odysseus.
“Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”(Michael Jordan). Every once in awhile, people are faced with hardships, it’s just a matter of life. However, some of these people may not know how to deal with these obstacles that they are facing. Although the individuals in the selection faced a variety of different hardships, they all overcame these obsatcles by perservering and not giving up.
Throughout life, we are all forced to face strenuous challenges. Setbacks come at the worst possible times and eventually, we all fail at one thing or another. All of these are a part of life. In order to be successful, we must learn to push ourselves to overcome these difficulties, to be our own motivators. But, as in most cases, it is easier said than done.
Good ___________ everyone and a warm welcome to Owens Community College to celebrate today’s graduation ceremony. For myself, this is an extreme honor to be part of this celebration and the opportunity to stand in front of all you amazing people. This is something that I never dreamt of. To be honest, standing here is exciting and nerve-racking at the same time. This is my first graduation ceremony and I have never heard a commencement speech before.
Good morning parents, teachers, and fellow students. This is such a great honor for me to be up here representing the graduating class of 2018 today. Thank you so much! Can you believe we'll be going into high school next year??? Crazy, isn’t it -- Mommy, don’t cry.
Humans are stuffed with goals and when they seem out of reach many tend to give up or change goals when instead they should be changing the way they approach it. The most important part in achieving something is in how you handle yourself when faced with obstacles. When you come across a challenge you feel is difficult to overcome don’t quit but instead change the steps in order to allow you to work around the
On behalf of my wife and I, I would like to thank you all for coming to celebrate our special day; it wouldn’t have been the same without all of you here tonight! First, I would like to say, I am sorry for not being here today to represent you as a sister and to celebrate this unity with you and Jennifer. I’m so happy that this day has finally arrived; you have taken Jennifer as your eternal soulmate before God, close family members, and friends. You are a wonderful person with a big heart, with no doubt, I know you will do everything in your power to make Jennifer happy, support her, and love her wholeheartedly. Today, it’s an honour to have this speech read to you at your wedding while I am thousands of miles away, even though, I am so far away I have cherished every memory of you being my brother, and I have kept you and the rest of the family close at heart. I wish you and your beautiful
To the Groom, Dear Mr. Gunter, Congratulations. You have become the luckiest man in the world today. I have watched countless men try to win the heart of your bride and fail. You have been given the honor of being the husband to my dear friend Elaina.
Today, I discovered that I lost my son. I dont know where is he. I dont know if he's fine and I certainly dont know how is he living. I know its too late
I stand here today, full of grief and guilt, that my beautiful wife, the daughter of Scotland, died here a cálend ago because of my erroneous doing. Today we have assembled here at, Dunkland cemetery to honour and pay our respects to this adoring wife, nurturing mother and daughter of Scotland. My wife was the epitome of loyalty, faithfulness and kindness but because of my selfishness and cunningness my beautiful wife tragically died. She was and still is my queen, filled with warmth, kindness and benevolence; unlike that cruel, disheartened “tyrant (’s)” wife.
Good evening ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guest, family, friends, faculty, and fellow graduates. I am honored to be able to speak tonight. I must thank Karla and Peggy, as I know they have something to do with granting me this privilege. I’m 32 years old, married, have a beautiful 4-year-old daughter and a son on the way. It is crazy to think that I am now receiving my college degree.
This was the lesson I learnt from my father, an unceasing learner and a person who would never give up no matter how many and how difficult the obstacles may be. Having understood from him that success is a moving target, the years of my life with my family have inculcated in me a desire to achieve perfection.
