Good evening ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guest, family, friends, faculty, and fellow graduates. I am honored to be able to speak tonight. I must thank Karla and Peggy, as I know they have something to do with granting me this privilege. I’m 32 years old, married, have a beautiful 4-year-old daughter and a son on the way. It is crazy to think that I am now receiving my college degree. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my family, the professors and faculty at this fine University. I joined the National Guard when I was a 17 years old as a junior in high school. I attended basic training between my junior and senior summer and returned to training upon completion of graduation. Soon after my country would call me to serve overseas on a peacekeeping mission to Kosovo. After a nine-month deployment there I fired my travel agent and returned …show more content…
Be proud of who you are, where you came from, what you have accomplished and where you are going in life. Stay focused! Be bold, yet gracious and humble. Give everything you can or have to whatever it is you are doing. I have learned that there are things such as effort, care, attitude, and work ethic that require no money or talent. Put your energy into these four areas and you will no longer need to look for success, as it will find you. Remember to give back. Give whatever it is you have to help someone else. If you don’t have money, then give your time, if you don’t have time, give blood, and if you can’t give blood, then ensure you always give everyone you encounter dignity and respect. I have never been overly impressed by what a person has, but rather what they have accomplished and the character they posses. Set goals and always move forward. Never let anyone or anything, especially excuses, stand in your way. Thank you Kaplan University for everything you have done for us, and congratulations to my fellow classmates. Go forth and do great
If someone wants to succeed in life and stay recognized by superiors, then he or she ought to appear hardworking. A person begins with setting goals. There are two categories, the first, “be” goals and the second, “do” goals. In other words, ask yourself, "What to be?" or "What to achieve?" Four categories of goals consist of wealth, health, relationships, and self-fulfillment which equal success. Working diligently to finish a task demonstrates how to live a successful life. Given these points, Thomas Edison, Helen Keller and Harriet Tubman, all exceptional achievers, found that prosperity undoubtedly comes along for everyone who perseveres.
In my opinion, I have been through lots of obstacles. From one of my best friends dying to my grandmother passing, it’s hard. But I didn’t quit, I didn’t give up on life I moved on and lived for them. Purpose; be unique, not average. Growing up our biggest want is to fit in. The last thing we want to do is stand out. We should have a purpose in our life span. I want to make a difference wherever I can, and impact somebody in a massive way. Sacrifice; seek wealth not riches. A few things we sacrifice each day that go unnoticed are, Time, Money, Relationships, and health. All of those things we sacrifice leads up to us creating wealth. Not necessarily money, but having what we need to be successful. Use your wealth to change others. Even with money, don’t let it change you. I write all of this to say, I want to be the best me I can be. I constantly want to work on becoming a better version of myself. The goals I have set for myself aren’t what a normal person should believe. I am working on being unique and not average, but also keep a high quality of life and thought. If I practice these 7 keys throughout my journey, I will definitely see you all from the
Transitioning from conformity to individuality is hard for many people. Individualists encounter people who question them and their beliefs, as well as those who criticize them. Their beliefs are so foreign to others that it causes an unwarranted reaction from them if not attempted to be understood. In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Montag shows how responding to an oppressive society in a way that does not follow the norms, causes a violent reaction. Despite becoming an individualist later in the story, life as a conformist was much easier for Montag.
College was such a big ordeal around this time last year! Many students had no choice but to think about it every day and I was surrounded by friends and classmates thinking about the same thing. Am I sure this is the school for me? Do I really want to move away or just stay near my mom? I even thought to myself, “What about moving out of state?” Everyone was so nervous, and everyone had the right to be. We are all trying to take the next step into moving on after high school. Until April 5th, 2016, my proudest moment was this day. I received acceptance into the Alabama A&M university. It was just a regular day that I had come home to mail from different universities, and my mom and I had applied here already with my mind on going to a predominantly
My professors and family will continue to support and encourage me along the way I will never be alone in this journey. There is no challenge I will face that I can’t overcome. I have learned in the last year and half of Community college how to
Ladies! Really,in this day in age could this old wise tale really be floating around. By now we all know that men have singular focus, RIGHT? Don't get me wrong they are intelligent beings, but I have yet to meet a man that can read between our cryptic lines. Man want to know if you are interested with little to know effort. I am telling you to enter the bar yelling "Who's taking me home tonight!", all I'm saying is if he shows interest it is okay to let him know yo are just as interested in him. Playing hard to get will sent the wrong message simply because your message will most like be misread!
I pushed away this anxiety with thoughts of positive self-worth. Thanks to my optimistic attitude, I once again exceeded my expectations. I studied for hours everyday, joined Kappa Kappa Psi (an honorary band fraternity), became a group leader for WEBS (We’re Empowered By Science), and stepped out of my comfort zone to get closer to my professors and fellow peers. Today, halfway through my second semester at Wilkes University, my dedication to my studies and activities allowed me to get recommendations from my professors for work study jobs, achieve a 3.84 GPA, accumulate 19 total community service hours, and earn a job as a WEBS summer camp counselor.
Good ___________ everyone and a warm welcome to Owens Community College to celebrate today’s graduation ceremony. For myself, this is an extreme honor to be part of this celebration and the opportunity to stand in front of all you amazing people. This is something that I never dreamt of. To be honest, standing here is exciting and nerve-racking at the same time. This is my first graduation ceremony and I have never heard a commencement speech before.
Today, as we graduate, with degree nearly in hand, I challenge each of you to make a difference in whatever you do. Remember that life didn't end when we re-entered school. Life continued throughout our program. Even when stretched to the limit, life only got more challenging. And now, graduating, life only changes pace. Our degree completion is not really an ending as much as a new beginning as we re-enter our lives of work and home. We thank all of our family, friends, instructors and co-workers who helped see us through this process. Thank you for this opportunity and good luck to you all.
Oh.... my..... goodness..... Stop what you're doing, please I Demand you to focus on me because as I stand here before, you staring into your eyes I am seriously stunned By what I can see. Unfortunately, the outbreak has not been 100% cured, again I am faced amongst you people annoyed and shocked because you all have been lied to. I'm deadly afraid to tell you that that somehow someone has told you some false, invalid words, that when put together can form a naughty phrase that intends to dramatically destroy and take over your very own lives, only if you don't put a stop to it immediately. Put A stop to it with the 6 magic words that I will reveal to you further into this speech.
Good afternoon staff, family members, friends, and fellow graduates. It is an honor to speak to all of you today. First of all, I would like to thank my family, especially my parents, for all of their unconditional love and support. Thank you mom, for teaching me to never give up and for being there for me when I needed you most. Thank you dad, for always supporting my dreams and encouraging me.
Good Morning Mavis, All is well with me and I hope all is well with you too. I enjoy reading your mails too and would always look forward to read more. I really love the photo you sent, you are gorgeous. How long have you been in the UK? I will keep looking at the photo and make sure I don't miss your pretty face and lovely smile..
Hope everyone is getting ready to ring in 2016! As we wrap of 2015 and get ready to ring in a shiny new year, we want to take the time to thank each and everyone of you. It has been a year of growth and learning and we could not have done it without your love and support. Thank you to our families, friends, vendors, friendors, and clients. Thank you to all of those whom have helped us and supported us in little and big ways.
You can see how all of these mindsets and some of the ones we discussed earlier played out in the lives of people around us like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bill Gates, and Donald Trump just to mention a few. Since these men are with us right now, let’s shift attention to how their lives reflect these mindsets and borrow a leaf there as to how you can be successful like them.
It will be worth it in the end, but you need to put in the work. I have to go. - I have dinner plans. - Business or pleasure?
