Humorous Wedding Speech By The Father Of The Groom

Four years ago, I stood before my middle school class on our graduation day, and I gave a speech concerning growing up and learning new secrets about your friends and yourself. A great deal of you who sit here today were apart of that class, and I hope you remember that speech, seeing as I don’t. I don’t remember a single word I preached, so I have a fresh speech today since I can’t rewrite, revise, and reprise the original one. Before I dive in too deep, more than anyone I want thank my mother, for instilling in me the desire to represent myself as an exceptional individual. If it was not for her I would not have developed my drive to succeed. I have been doing this roughly my entire life. However, today is not the day that I will not succumb to my social anxiety, I have a message to deliver to all of you, and I hope that you will listen.
When I first started writing this speech I was planning on sugar coating everything. I planned on it being sweet, tear jerking, heart wrenching, the entire shebang. It would have been that typical high school graduation speech where you tell everyone that everything will be okay. I don’t plan on doing that, I plan on being real with you. First things first, although I stand here today as your Salutatorian, I cannot say that I am any more intelligent than any of my peers. Much the same as Erica Goldson, I can attest that I am only the best at doing what I am told. And no I am not knocking my intelligence or simply being modest, this is my truth.
