Humorous Wedding Speech by a Friend of the Groom
Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen - I must admit to being rather nervous about today's speech. As it’s a family occasion, the last thing I want to do is cause offence by talking in too much detail about Brian’s colorful past. I’ve therefore decided to edit out anything that might cause offence. So thank you very much and have a wonderful evening!
Sit down.
Laughter.
Stand up and continue.
I read somewhere that you can flesh out your speech by researching which famous people were born the same day as the groom (bridegroom), and make some sort of link. Well, Brian was born on 9th January 1976, just 24 hours after a whole host of famous and interesting people - musical luminaries such as Bowie and Elvis, and the modern day Einstei...
Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Josh and following the time-honored tradition, I will now do my best to give Roy the most uncomfortable five minutes of his life. For the record, the most uncomfortable five minutes of Joyce's life will be later on this evening, courtesy of Roy.
Good evening. I would like to begin by welcoming each and every one of you to this joyous and stressful occasion.
As about half of you will know, this is my second father of the bride speech. To misquote Oscar Wilde from 'The Importance of Being Ernest:
Anyway, good evening Ladies and Gentlemen - My name is Rob and it’s my pleasure to be Daniel's best man today.
Almost all customers that enter a bank expect to hear questions like "Would you also like to get a mortgage or an auto loan? Would you like to open another account? A savings account?" Most of the time, people say no, and this can hurt the bank 's infrastructure, especially since the number of people that physically go to the bank is gradually decreasing. In order to make sure enough accounts are created, branch managers will sometimes set goals for the employees. Since the number of products sold affects the salary of the branch manager, their goals may sometimes be very demanding. Most of the time, the employees are not able to reach that goal while sticking with Wells Fargo 's values: ethics, what 's right for
A matter that weighs heavily between the science world and the biblical world is the meaning of the ?days? of creation in Genesis 1. Are God?s creative days to be taken as long periods of time, eons, or short periods of time, i.e. 24 hours? We will examine the biblical evidence for possibly applying a long-term definition to the word, ?day? in English, yom in Hebrew, and see that in the Bible; it is all a matter of timing. Remember the article by Pinnock; we must not let our long-standing presuppositions fog our objective look at the issue.
In The Stranger, Meursault’s murder of the Arab is caused not only by the weather, but also by coincidence, the same way in which Meursault lives his life. The defining events in The Stranger are set in motion by Meursault's murder of the Arab on a bright and sunny day. While going to get a drink of water, the foreign Arab uses a knife to shine the sunlight in Meursault's face. This forces Meursault to fire and kill the Arab with a revolver. Throughout this scene the sun and light play crucial roles, but it is not the first time the sun appears during The Stranger. Throughout the play, the sun is a symbol for the feelings and emotions, which Meursault cannot deal with. The sun becomes a distraction from Meursault's everyday life and he cannot handle it. The sun first presents a problem to Meursault at his mother's funeral procession. Even before the procession embarks, Meursault remarks of the sun, calling it "inhuman and oppressive." Meursault has shown no emotion towards his mother's death and instead he directs his bottled-up anxiety at the sun. Later, at the beach with Raymond, the sun provokes Meursault to commit the crime.
Throughout the world there are groups that are known for their deviant behavior. These delinquent groups at times become a major threat due t their actions. In the United States they are called gangs. As they are continuously putting the safety of our communities in danger, what can be done when they infiltrate our Armed Force? Stopping gang members and their affiliates from joining the military must become a top priority. And even more importantly, they must be weeded out of the military.
Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen - My name is Steve and this is my partner in crime, Scot. We are the best men today, famed for our double act. Some people may even say we were artists, but I think you'll all realize what kind of artists we are later on this evening.
Creationism is defined as “the belief that the universe and the various forms of life were created by God out of nothing” (Britannica 1). With the
Let me first say that the bridesmaids look absolutely smashing today, and only rightly outshone by our bride, Pamela. And, I'm sure you'll agree with me gentlemen, today is a sad day for single men, as another beauty leaves the available list. And ladies, I'm sure you'll agree that today's passing by without much of a ripple.
Throughout the short novel, The Stranger by Albert Camus contains symbolic references that are portrayed throughout the novel. Meursault, the protagonist of this story, is portrayed as a cold, emotionless, and strange being. He lacks emotion and sometimes seems to be afraid of it as well. The sun and the heat is a constant symbol throughout the novel. Meursault is constantly attacked by the sun and its heat. It can be brushed off as a lack of tolerance for heat or as a part of Meursault's strangeness. However, the sun is the only thing that seems to hinder Meursault. Perhaps the true antagonist of this novel is the sun and its unbearable heat. Despite the fact that everything else in the world cannot phase Meursault the sun can easily take
Through the material taught in creation studies, I have expanded my biblical worldview and strengthened my trust in the redeeming power of God as the perfect creator. As I conducted my interviews, I realized many people are uninformed on the biblical creation accounts and there do not understand they are compromising with evolution. There were four main question that this course answered –How long were the days in Genesis 1? How old is the earth and life? Does man and apes share a common ancestor? Were Adam and Eve real people?
What we know from church teaching and science is that life was created from nothing. The Bible is considered a book of faith; It contains what God wants to tells us, it contains the teaching on the creation story. In Theology class, it was given emphasized that the bible is inerrant but it doesn’t mean that it should be taken literally word per word. This is the reason why I disagree with the Young Earth Creationism. In reading the Bible, it really entails understanding. It’s like reading a storybook, it may use different styles to show or make the message clearer. That is how literature works. In the creation story, the message there is not that God created everything in just a week. That’s not what we should focus on; we should focus on the message that there is a God who created us, who created everything from nothing.
