Education is learning to become good citizens of the world. Education is not only going to school through the years from K-12 and beyond to learn certain subjects and acquire certain skills. It is also to learn how to become better people and help create a better world. Learning is knowledge acquired through experiences, study and being taught. Students have different ways of learning. It is important to know that every student learns in a different way. Students might be auditory learners, visual learners, reading/writing and or kinesthetic learners and teachers should make lesson plans that include all of them in order to help students learn in the best way. The humanistic theory says that a person needs to meet certain personal needs in order to achieve personal development. It also states that people can develop positive self-regard if they receive unconditional positive regard from others. Quality education is based on the input that teachers give the students in the classroom. Students have certain needs that they need to meet in order to feel comfortable enough to be ready to receive information that needs to be learned. Students need to feel safe, hunger free, and have a good environment. I will make my students feel comfortable in order to tell me if they need something that I could provide for them. Once the students feel good, safe, and comfortable in a classroom they will be ready to receive quality education. If a student feels cold or hungry he/she will not be able to concentrate to the fullest and quality education will not happen. I will make the environment of the classroom or climate feel safe, and bully free so that the students can express themselves without fear. I will also give positive feedback to all my students in order for them to build up self-esteem and feel good about themselves going to school. I believe that the humanistic theory supports quality education because students need to have all their personal needs meet and feel good about themselves in order to learn new things and to learn them
Additionally, Humanistic Psychology studies how people value themselves. Today’s Psychologists are often faced with problems when diagnosing patients, and utilizing a Humanistic approach to their prognosis facilitates a more broad study of what may be occurring. Taking a step back, Jake is having a tough time with his classes; his classes are now more difficult than before, and they might be affecting how Jake perceives his own values. I.e. because Jake feels more nervous, he could be losing his sense of control, which goes against his personal growth and affects his values and image of himself. Applying the humanistic approach to Jake, his fulfillment as a student is his personal growth. However as the difficulty of his classes increase, so does his own personal perception on how much he is growing. Human reason has not always been a presence in our daily lives. Doing the right thing, being ethical, and making educated decisions, one would think, are the ideal principles behind human nature. Sadly, only in more recent times has human reason shed its good grace on more modern societies. For many centuries, constant war and the reconstruction to nations, countries, and empires led to the rise and fall of many different leaders and in tow their governments. Within such societies, political spokesmen like Machiavelli, Locke, and Marx, interpret their ideas to the people, which still remain significant to this day. One of their main focuses was to raise awareness, on their ideas on trust and human reason. While Locke and Marx urge us to have faith in human reason, as a positive means to society, Machiavelli would claim the contrary. The concept of human nature and reason to both John Locke and Karl Marx juxtaposes that of Machiavelli’s, and their notions derive from their different eras, economies, environments, and strict governments, which ultimately shaped their ideologies on human nature.
Humanistic Theory is based on the ability for individuals to be able to separately diverse with our own prospective on life. Maslow’s theory speaks to the potential and to positive outcome of human motivation and believes that every individual can and will strives to be more.
Psychoanalysis gives an understanding of the unconscious mind of human beings while behaviorism is the study of behaviors of individuals in different environments. The theory of humanistic theory emphasizes on the potential of every person and focuses on the benefits of self-actualization and growth. The humanistic theory focuses on the belief that individuals are internally good and that social and mental problems are because of deviations from the norm (Arnaud & Vanheule, 2013).
The humanistic approach has been used in the area of therapeutic counselling for over five decades. Even with the existence of various other forms of counselling, the humanistic methodology has proved to be exceedingly successful.
Humanistic approach focuses on human existence, where people have unique qualities that include creativity, freewill or freedom, potential and personal growth. People like Carl Rogers who have brought about person-centred theory and Abraham Maslow who has developed a hierarchy of needs, where he emphasized on self-actualization. There is an evaluation on both Rogers and Maslow theories, on how they are based on their own assumptions and views, and I apply Maslow’s theory of self-actualization into my own personal life.
Education is a very important aspect of our lives. It is our education that makes us who we are and determines what we become. Therefore, education is not something to be taken lightly. As a teacher, my goal will be to provide the best possible education for my students. Every student is unique. I must see students for who they are individually and respect their ideas and opinions. Each student has a different learning style. I must take this into consideration because I want to provide a constructive learning opportunity for every student. I believe that every student has the potential to learn.
Education is everywhere. This is why teachers need to be the best they can be. Since all children and adolescents are required to attend school, they need teachers that care about them and their education. In order for a teacher to be able to do this, he/she needs to understand the nature of students and knowledge. These two things go together. A teacher also needs to know what the purpose of an education is because without knowing, a teacher does not really have a purpose. In my philosophy, I will discuss why I think my curricular area is important and how I will professionally develop myself to become the best teacher I can be.
During the course of my observations I have noticed humanist existing when the teacher gives the students options. This theory suggest that students will learn what they need and what they want and like I mentioned previously for Darian, learning happens in his seat on his time rather than on the rug during group reading or group work. As for existentialism this is noticeable in the classroom when the students exercise freedom of choice, usually Ms. Diaz gives her student’s choices like write about what we read or draw about what we read, giving the students a feeling of independence and partnership with regards to their education. The students usually start their days by setting classroom goals on a daily basis, which again allows the students to make choices. Behaviorism is another theory I explore in this classroom, because Ms. Diaz is very intuitive she makes many changes and is not afraid to change up her lesson plan or activities when they seem to be failing or lacking. One observation of this I noted was during the week of Halloween, Ms. Diaz asked Ms. Warm to read the students a book about Halloween, as Ms. Warm began to read the students became very talkative and were distracted. Ms. Diaz quickly realized the book was not age appropriate and therefore, instead of the book being enjoyable it was causing confusion and

A teacher is a person who provides education for pupils (children), or students (adults) using lectures, audiovisual aids, demonstrations, and computers to present academic, social, and motor skills. Teachers can also teach foreign languages, art, kids with special needs, and P.E. Teaching has changed a lot compared to the traditional methods of just lectures and textbooks. Students now are encouraged to actively learn through groups or individual projects. They have learning games, debates, and experiments to help them through the learning process. Being a teacher would be a great career for anyone who wants to further themselves, to help people, and to have great benefits (chronicle guidance publications).
The role and responsibilities of a teacher is very complex. Teachers are responsible for making sure their learners acquire the knowledge they need, but also achieve their qualification by the end of the course in a safe learning environment, so they have the skills and experience they need to start their careers. To achieve that goal a teacher must be creative, professional, flexible and knowledgeable enough to deal with daily challenges and find different ways to help their learners needs. Establishing a safe and stimulating environment for learners, creating mutual respect and set goals that stretch and challenge learners of all backgrounds and abilities.
The third perspective is humanistic, which is primarily focused on making oneself and the world innately better. In a journal by E.M Robertis, says, “Humanism is being accused of having con- tributed to selfishness in American culture”. This statement I disagree with however. I think that could be a valid argument saying that the approach creates us to focus too much on ourselves causing us to be selfish. My argument to this would be that this approach is to, yes, help us become better, but to also help the world around us become better as well. The fact that we can help ourselves become better and help the world do the same makes this not become so internalized and selfish. I connect with this approach because of this. I always have strived
