Human development is a process we all have to go through in life. Not everyone go through the process of development the same. This class has taught me a lot of information about how we develop in the eight periods of human development. I also learned that my dimples are part of my phenotype and that it has a strong genetic base (p 54). My mother told me as an infant most of my physical milestones that were expected I met. My height and weight was normal as an infant. I started gross motor skills of crawling and walking at a normal age. I did not go daycare I stayed home with my mother, while my father worked. Pronouncing some words like screen, street, string was difficult for me. I was in speech therapy until the third grade. All my life I hated to read aloud because of the way I pronounce some of my words. I also remember having allergies in the second grade and my doctor said I would grow out of it. However, I still suffer from allergies at the age of thirty-six. When I was in third grade my parents got a divorce and me, my mother, and brother moved back to Memphis, Tn. When my parents got divorced it changed my relationship with my father and I rarely seen him. Moving to Memphis changed my life dramatically. We lived with an extending family majority of my third to eighth grade year of school. Living with cousins my age and older made me start to look at myself different at the end of middle childhood to early adolescence. I realized that environment does have an influence in development. I had to learn how to adapt to the new environment with my extending family. In the adolescence stage, my cognitive development was immature and I did the not take life serious. In the sixth grade, my grades started to drop in some of my classes. I started to see my physical appearance in middle school I was overweight but did not know what that meant. It helped me develop a relationship with my father. Growing up without my father did affect me having a relationship with people. I did not know what was normal on how I guy posed to treat a woman. I learned that I have several of my father’s characteristics. I am still in the emerging and young adulthood human development stage and despite my struggles; I still have dreams and goals in life.in the near future I want to get marry and start a family. Human development is very important in our life. Even though I did not get the opportunity to have a regular class I still was able to obtain knowledge from this
