As the director of strategy and capital investment I recommend that Ms. Wilson and the Board consider implementing each of these three recommendations to improve the surrounding community. While the planning process for each of the community solutions, should be done at the same time or within a time period, the implantation of each recommendation should not. I believe the best way to implant each of these ideas is to do each one individually over an agreeable time frame. I believe that they should look at each idea individually and see what the hospital, Board and most importantly the community will gain from them. Focusing and implementing one project at a time allows for the CEO, Board and any other important stakeholders to

This is why I believe the one recommendation at a time will help the stakeholders and Board members understand how important each idea is to the surrounding communities. In order to effectively deploy this solution all supporting stakeholders and Board members have to be well informed, have all the facts for the current recommendation that is being developed. When designing a plan for each of these recommendations, current policies, laws and accreditation have to be kept in mind, and maintain well representation within the new recommendation. One thing that should be kept in mind is that some since each recommendation is going to be done separately and at a different time period each idea could have different stakeholders that are interested and need to be kept happy and well represented. Overall, communication, proper planning and engagement with the community, Board and, old and new stakeholders will allow for proper utilization of everyone's time and ensure the community is getting what it …show more content…
The thought for budgeting was to look at grants, exhibiting agencies to sponsor and government programs that the hospital can participate in. While those options all are great the biggest thing to worry about is what can the new recommendations, especially the EMR and clinic/surgery center either bring in or reduce from our existing budget. Now that the hospital will not be sending surgeries out, how much will they profit from this new service, how much of this will be able to go to reducing debt or supplying the hospital with supplies. Or, how much will the hospital save now that they do not have to worry about paper or other unnecessary items. What existing health policies are the hospital and the Board supposed to be following, what new policies have they not yet implemented or thought of. Lastly, in order for this process to run smoothly constant communication, some giving and some losing has to happen between the stakeholders and the community. Doing all these things will keep the planning process organized, help eliminate setbacks and keep everyone on track and on the same page to bettering the

...he operating margin, cash on hand, and days in accounts receivable as these have been major factors. The new system being put in place for the materials management system should be closely monitored, as it will determine the adaptability of the department. The reformation of the Governing Board can be justified through the successes or failures it creates while going through the restructuring process. It will be important to get feedback from employees and the CEO to see if conflicts arise. The new physical therapy center will continue to be monitored to see if revenues are as high as thought with the expansion of this facility. Overall, it will continue to be a process of monitoring, reevaluating, and gathering appropriate data to determine if the strategic plan being implemented is continuously seeking the values, mission, and vision of the Coastal Medical Center.
Current health care systems exist in complex atmospheres that regularly change to meet the demands of health care personnel and consumers. Health care systems deal with many different cultures, values, and interests making it increasingly more difficult for management to provide their employees with a clear vision of the future (Lega, Longo, & Rotolo, 2013). Begun, Hamilton, and Kaissi (2005) explain health care centers utilize strategic planning to better understand their environments and ensure the organization’s structure, culture, and important decision-making are compatible within their current surroundings. Ginter, Duncan, and Swayne (2013) describe strategic planning as “the periodic process of developing a set of steps for an organization to accomplish its’ mission and vision using strategic thinking” (p.14). The goal of strategic health care planning is to improve performance throughout the organization (Begun et al, 2005). This paper discusses the strategic plan for Brooklyn Hospital Center including its long and short- term goals, its strategic thinking and key stakeholders, and the various strategies identified within the plan.
It is more feasible if the public health issue affects a community, rather than an individual. For the strategic plan to work, funding is
When assessing where the industry will go over the next ten years, there is one area that stands out. Government involvement in healthcare has become a major player in how this industry is changing. New regulations are being introduced at a rapid rate and have pushed hospitals into constant change management (Arab Kash, Spaulding, Johnson, & Gamm, 2014).
One initiative that would be great to measure the success of the elements used to implement this Must Have program would be patient feedback. The organization could get this feedback by sending out surveys or even calling patients to do over the phone surveys. These surveys would be a way to get an overall idea of the patient stay and the quality of care provided.
Talking directly to the stakeholders will help answer most of these key questions. For IT projects meeting the key stakeholders in a forum to review progress on the project is key to its success. Therefore a well drawn up project plan will ensure that there is enough representation of the stakeholders at the regular project review meetings.
Trinity Community Hospital community health assessment needs were obtained from input from the hospital CEO and senior management obtained input from medical staff members and community leaders to develop a vision for the hospital. A five-year plan identified orthopedic, oncology and cardiology services needed to be developed in order to better serve the community needs. A five-year targeted outcome for these services was outlined along with the level of capital investment required to develop these services. Lastly, financial analysis was conducted to determine if sufficient margins will be generated for future growth. A detailed analysis of the orthopedic service line is included in this paper to determine the feasibility of the proposed service line.

“Our plans miscarry because they have no aim. When a man does not know what harbor he is making for, no wind is the right wind” a famous quote about our goal by Seneca. It is a metaphor about the achievement goal and objectives by good planning skills. One has to plan for what one wants to achieve and where one wants to go. One of the most important things is to have good planning, before taking any project the first think you should do is to create project plan. Planning can be defined as preparing a sequence of action to achieve specific goals and objectives. According to Kerzner (2009), “project planning is desirable that the project manager is involved from project conception through execution. It must be systematic, flexible to handle, closely disciplined through reviews and control and capable of accepting multi functional inputs (pg. 412)”. The importance of planning a project is to describe the work so that it will be easily identifiable to the project team member.
...ntinually evolve, a certain degree of freedom must be felt by its members, bureaucracy represents and organization from which chaos has completely been eliminated. Nurse Executives, therefore, will need to encourage staff to challenge existing practice. Given the current environment, creative conflict will need to be supported in order for our continued growth.” (McGuire, 1999, p. 9) I believe that Capital Health is on a path for success. They have modernized there organization chart causing a more decentralized environment. This new atmosphere fosters empowerment of its nursing staff. This sense of ownership over their practice provides growth not only for individual nurse, but the entire profession. This positive proactive change of the organizational structure will allow the hospital to experience continued growth and development that is propelled from within.
Planning can be used to help the organization map out a way to efficiently achieve their goals. The beginning of the planning process should include analyzing of the current situation. From this information the company can determine the goals and start to outline the steps that need to be taken to ensure that the goal will be met. Other planning activities that should be completed are determining the company’s objectives and were they want to be in the future. This will help them to choose their business objectives and strategies. In addition, the company should look at the resources that they have available and determine if they are sufficient to achieve the organizations goals.
Before the meeting, the departments should prepare themselves and think of the positive and negative outcomes that can happen to their own department as well as for the whole University Diner. This will help everyone understand the situation at the meeting. After conducting a meeting, a plan should be made and complete. This process shows all the outlines of who, what, when, where, why, and how the plan will go.
The first and most crucial step is to create a solid plan. Plan should include the techniques, tools and data that are going to used in the project. The responsibilities of all the members should be distributed at this step. The utilization of resources and budgeting of the project should be done here. Management tools such as probability and Impact Matrix, FMEA are useful at this point.
