The Mongols left quite an impression on the world with their legacy, there are many parts of the Mongolian legacy that are very important and that have changed the history of the world. The Mongols spread the Black Death throughout their empire without which the world and history would be very different. The Mongols also spread a writing system throughout their empire, although writing was discovered independently in multiple areas, the Mongolian empire helped to spread the idea. And, strangely enough, the Mongols developed a rather effective postal system. Not all of the things that the Mongols did were bad things, although the Mongolians were not the first to use writing and several areas such as Mesopotamia developed writing independently of the Mongols, the Mongols did help to spread written language all throughout their empire. The Mongols were literate people and they would force the people in the cities and empires that they had conquered to learn to use written language. There is a good chance that without the influence of the Mongols that writing would have developed at a significantly slower rate than the rate at which it did in history. Finally, the third thing that I think is very important and interesting about the Mongolian legacy is that in addition to spreading the written word all across the world, they developed a postal system. This was probably inevitable as the Mongols controlled such a vast empire, they needed some efficient way to deliver messages and information all across their empire, so they developed a postal system to solve the problem.
