I am from a small town called Sealy, it is about an hour south of College Station. Coming from a small town I knew all of my neighbors and pretty much everybody in my school. There were some people who kept to themselves but for the most part we are all very social and outgoing. Before high school I had no idea where I wanted to go to college. I just knew that I wanted to be kind of close to home. For a while I was thinking about attending Texas University but we went there to visit family and I did not like the town of Austin. My cousin was attended Blinn in Bryan so some weekends I would come to visit him and I enjoyed the town of College Station. It is like my home town where everybody is nice and very friendly. I visited Texas A&M and automatically …show more content…
But unfortunately my grades were not good enough to get into A&M right away so I attended Blinn in Brenham. Taking engineering classes at Blinn made me rethink my major because I was not doing very well. I knew I could not get through the schooling to be an engineer but I wanted to do hands on work for my career. I was also working for a small engineering firm called Wilson Engineering. I sat behind a desk and drew up site plans and buildings. I was having fun at first seeing all the different layouts of the land and buildings but I was getting bored and tired of sitting around all day. That is when I decided to become a construction science major, because I enjoy building and seeing how things were …show more content…
Some of them include repairing fishing rods and reels, maintenance for a school district, building boats, and drawing engineering plans. My parents have always inspired to put myself out there and go after jobs to get experience and make money in the process. I would have to say that my mom is one of the people I look up to the most because she has gotten laid off twice and still kept everything together and kept looking for more work. She just so strong willed and always positive. She has helped me to learn to keep my head up and think quick to solve the problem when stuff does not go right. She has also taught me to think things out before doing things so that I have plans of what needs to be done and how to do them in the shortest amount of time. My mom has inspired me so much and helped me become the man I am today. Another person that inspires me would have to be my best friend David. He scared me to death when he cracked his skull open in a four-wheeler accident. I drove up to him and saw the left side of his skull open and an enormous pile of blood next to him. He was life lighted to a head trauma center in Tyler Texas where the doctors said he was expected to die. Against all odds David pulled through and has been my biggest inspiration and hero to this
Imagine the senior year of high school when students are poised to enter college and become adults. It's a time of responsibility, of being on one's own, and of shaping lives by making daily decisions. One of the major decisions is where to attend college. Should a person stay close to home and attend an in-state school where people and even campuses are somewhat familiar? Or should the decision be to start a completely new chapter in one's life by attending a college farther away, with totally new challenges? I believe the answer is definitely to leave town.
My major influence and inspiration is from my father. He came to America from Syria and persevered to become an anesthesiologist, which is a very stressful job. When he first arrived to the states, he would constantly back and forth between New York and Texas to finish his research and residency. He shared a claustral apartment with four roommates and could only afford minimal food. Daily he struggled so that he could provide for his family and offer them a safe and stable life. All of his persistence and determination continually inspires me to work hard and achieve my goals. He is
One major contribution I make to Texas Tech is through my work with community service. Every Texas Tech student contributes to the university though his or her actions everyday, both on campus and off campus. I choose to contribute through my actions off campus by constantly working to serve the Lubbock community in anyway possible. Working to better impact the lives of under privileged Lubbock children, helping serve at Lubbock soup kitchens, and corresponding with national community service organizations helps me to best represent my school and my values. Every time I allot an hour or two of my time to plan or attend a community service event, the school’s name is looked upon in a positive light for shaping students who will not only
The one who influenced me to keep striving and to have determination is my father. Although, my father and mother are not together
When I decided to attend Northern Arizona University and be a Lumberjack, it was initially due to its reputation as the best teachers college in Arizona, but ironically, I have never been an education major, or taken any education courses. Education was an overcrowded field, so I entertained the idea of being a Computer Science major. Ha! That lasted less than a month before I knew that was going to fail.
I had surgery to correct a vision problem, and ear tubes to help with ear infections. By intervening with these issues, contribute a lot to catching up with my peers. My parents, especially my mother, were deeply involved in helping me succeed. She attended meetings, keep informed on my progress, and most importantly was my biggest support system. Even from an early age, I knew how important parental involvement in education was. The fact that people cared about me succeeding, was all the motivation, I needed.
I would define my experience in Lone Star College as motivating and advancing. As a typical adolescent, I used to believe that community colleges were nothing compared to big universities. As soon as I graduated from high school, I started to apply to all universities I was interested in, even the ones that were located far from my hometown, Venezuela. I was neither considering to study a two-year degree nor considering to study in a small college. However, when I was about to start my career in Venezuela, due to social and economic crisis in the country, universities closed as protests arose, and there was no clue when they would open once again. It was when I realized I had to move from my country and explore new choices to get my degree. Suddenly, I found a small college, located in a nice sector in Texas, called Lone Star College-Montgomery (LSC-M), and my life extremely changed in several aspects.
In ceramics, I mess around with my friends but still get my work done at the same time and have fun doing it. 9-11 has definitely taught my parents that no matter how safe you think you are that anything can happen at anytime so you have to always be cautious. My parents moved to UA 23 years ago from Grandview. They wanted to move here because they knew they wanted to have a family, UA had great school systems, and it is very safe. My parents have molded me into the person I am today. They have taught me the right and wrong things to do in life, how to be kind to everybody, and how it is important to be loyal to friends and family. They have told me to always keep strong relationships with your family because in the end they're all you'll have.
First, when you visit a college you always get vibe from the area. That vibe you feel is very important because if you feel uncomfortable, it is a warning that this place might not be the place for you. If you attend a school that you feel uncomfortable in, that can dramatically affect your mood and even your personality for the time that you are there. Whether you are living there or not, you want to make sure it is a friendly and positive
I spent much of my high school career researching colleges and universities. My mom and I traveled to well over 10 different colleges and universities in 4 different states trying to find the “perfect” school for me. By the end of my junior year of high school I had finally found the ideal school, or so I thought. The school was small, environmentally friendly, new, beautiful, diverse, and just happened to be located 1,000 miles away from home. Everyone at my small high school knew that I was going away to school and it was a huge deal because the majority of my classmates were going to in state schools. I traveled to the school multiple times for orientations, to meet my roommates, and to make sure it was the “perfect” school for me. Early May of my senior year of high school, right before graduation, I woke up with a feeling in my gut that this
Virtues find their place in the heart of any engineering discipline and provide the foundation for an engineer to mold his or her career around. From the perspective of professional development, an engineer’s reputation is of the utmost importance. By holding yourself to a certain level of moral character, others in the field will come to associate a high level of professionalism with your name and come to admire your respect for the field. In developing a sense of what virtues are applicable and necessary in your chosen field, you provide yourself with a path to success. Aristotle believed that human beings strive for a sense of well-being and happiness, what he called Eudaimonia.
continually working at. My parents are my and will continue to be my great example
They have set me great examples to go beyond my abilities to be successful and achieve my dreams. This is why I am motivated to enter the medical field. Back when I was younger, I would often help my mother babysit children, and it was then when I discovered my love for children. As I continued to grow, I was first enticed with Sonography, then I became fascinated with the delivery of infants and wanted to be a midwife.
I have two things that inspire me in my life. One of them is my parents especially my mother, the other is the accident of my dad¡¯s company occurred in recent.
My interest in pursuing mechanical engineering comes from my engineering teacher from griffin high school. I came in as a ninth grader, and I just chose to try it because I really did not know what I wanted to do. Mr. Burrell taught me many things. I feel like he prepared me the most by how much he challenged me and made me go through problem solving steps to figure out things that I did not know. Once I continued my knowledge through high school in engineering I figured out that mechanical engineering is the discipline that I felt like I was most interested in and that I was the most successful in. Webster specifically defines the discipline of Mechanical Engineering as, “the type of engineering tha...
