In ceramics, I mess around with my friends but still get my work done at the same time and have fun doing it. 9-11 has definitely taught my parents that no matter how safe you think you are that anything can happen at anytime so you have to always be cautious. My parents moved to UA 23 years ago from Grandview. They wanted to move here because they knew they wanted to have a family, UA had great school systems, and it is very safe. My parents have molded me into the person I am today. They have taught me the right and wrong things to do in life, how to be kind to everybody, and how it is important to be loyal to friends and family. They have told me to always keep strong relationships with your family because in the end they're all you'll have.
September 11, 2001 was a day that Americans and the world for that matter will not soon forget. When two planes went into the twin towers of the World Trade Center and two others went into the Pentagon and a small town in Pennsylvania, the world was rocked. Everyone in the United States felt very vulnerable and unsafe from attacks that might follow. As a result, confidence in the CIA, FBI, and the airlines were shaken. People were scared to fly after what had happened.

Britton is seen handing her mobile phone to fellow passenger Honor Elizabeth Wainio so she can call her mother. It was actually Lauren Grandcolas
The values that I learned from my parents as an infant, child, adolescent, and, most recently, as an adult, are continually enforced and taught to me today. It is because of this strong family support that I have stayed the same as I was before entering college. My family has always preached strong family values that will be with me for the rest of my life, and will be passed on to my children and grandchildren. Some of the family values that I have learned from my family are to always respect my elders and to have good manners no matter what.
9/11 was one of the most devastating events in American History. Four hijacked passenger airplanes killed almost three thousand people. 9/11 changed millions of lives forever. American Citizens didn’t feel safe. This attack was a wake-up call to American security. 9/11 forced the country to acknowledge its shortcomings and fix them, before any more harm could come upon the United States of America. 9/11, as all acts of terror do, promoted the growth of technology, in this case, security in the United States. 9/11 also brought about feelings of hatred to the country. The United States soon became known as one of the most intolerable nations on this planet. Lastly, 9/11 butchered the economy and forced it down a long road to recovery.
When situations arise and people die or become ill a value has to be placed on their life to determine if they are going to be healed or if their family is going to be compensated for their loss. The value of life has a variety of interpretations based on the approach a person decides to take. Some people think of human life with an economic point of view which can led to certain deceased citizens receiving more money for accidents than others. The economic view also says that if a surgery is going to cost the government to much money then the person who needs the surgery should not get it. On the other hand, some people look at it emotionally and say that everyone should get an equal amount of money for incidents that occur. People who look
The attacks that occurred on 9/11 took place on September 11th, 2001. In this devastating event, four different attacks had taken place. Each of the attacks were carried out by terrorists. The group responsible for the attack was Al-Qaeda, a militant Islamist organization that is known to be global in present day. The group itself has a network consisting of a Sunni Muslim movement that aims to make global Jihad happen. Furthermore, a stateless, multinational army that is ready to move at any given time. This terrorist group focuses on attacking non-Sunni Muslims, those who are not Muslim, and individuals who the group deems to be kafir. Ever since the late 1980s, Al-Qaeda has been wreaking havoc all around the world. The leader of the group once being Osama bin Laden. Three planes were bound for New York City while another plane headed towards Washington, D.C. which was supposed to take out the U.S. Capitol. Two of the airplanes crashed into the World Trade Center. One plane hitting the North Tower and the other hitting the South Tower. The third plane had crashed into the Pentagon taking out the western side of the building. The last and final plane was focused solely on taking out the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. but failed due to passengers of the plane coming hijacking it from the hijackers. The passengers attempted to take out the hijackers but sadly failed, crashing it into a field in Pennsylvania. Throughout the content of this paper, we will be focusing on the role of media when it comes to 9/11; more specifically: how the media's coverage of 9/11 manipulated our feelings towards 9/11, how it affected Islamophobia in America, and the lasting effects of 9/11.
As I grew older, between the transition of a child to a teenager, I learned more about my family, its culture and background, and even some back story about how they came to the United States to the first place. Back at home, my parents are certainly not home for long and everyday we weren't
As the viewers continue on with watching their favorite shows, did they asked themselves how our favorite shows reacted? Producers, directors, writers, actors/actresses, and all of Hollywood needed to go back and create and recreate television and for our nation. As television networks continue to broadcast, viewers noticed major changes on television episodes that aired before the attacks and deleted scenes that involves bombs, explosions, and the Twin Towers shown on television. There are a few of TV examples that affected 9/11. HBO series The Sopranos (2000-2007) opening credits (see Fig. 1) was seen with the World Trade Center shown on the car mirror and was removed by reediting the opening. An episode of Spongebob Squarepants (1999-) Just
Everyday our surroundings change all around us but after 9/11 things changed dramatically Many people who watch 9/11 happen either on TV, or heard on the radio or anything will tell you i was like the world stopped. 9/11 took our sense of safety and many other things. 9/11 had an major impact in our society that is still today going through our lives; Some more sufficient than others.
I never realized how society and culture frame incidents can determine whether it was a disaster or just something that happened somewhere. Like it was mentioned in the chapter about the Sultana when that happened it was on the heels of the end of the Civil War and right after the assassination of President Lincoln. I honestly did not know about that. I had read about the Sultana in high school history class but it was just mentioned once then never heard from about again. Whereas the Hindenburg, 9/11 and even the more recent Boston Bomber are talked about everywhere in this country and very well known to us. Not only does society and culture decide what gets turned into a disaster it also effects everything from politics to economics. After 9/11 the United States was transformed into a security state and anti-Muslimism grew exponentially and going to war in the Middle East became a political driving force.
Terrorist attacks are a threat to the development of any country and the welfare of her people. For instance, the September 11 attack in New York caused many deaths, infrastructural damages, and an economic standstill to the World Trading Centre. This paper discusses how technology influenced the attack, actions that were taken to enhance technology thereafter, and the new technologies that can be used to boost anti-terrorism campaigns. Technology played various roles during the September 11 attacks in New York. One of the major roles was communication through radio calls to call for emergencies, evacuations, and security back up. Ultra-high-frequency radios were used to capture signals from various areas including the pilots who were operating the rescuer police helicopters (911 Commission 281; Dwyer, Flynn, and Fessenden para. 3). It is through the communications that the fire fighters responded.
Growing up my mom and dad always showed us unconditional love. They shaped us to learn the right from the wrong and the importance of education. They related the troubles we experienced in America theirs in South America and how education primarily is the root to being successful in America. My dad would always say “we never had the opportunities you all have in America so don’t let it slip away”. Besides education, they taught us that money is easier spent then earned so to value a dollar. The upbringing in life that they had was very hard living and all the struggles they experience moving to a new country just to provide a better living environment for their kids. In their country beating your kids was known to put way word kids straight. My brother and I can contest to those beating but it made us into good kids. We didn’t give into the peer pressure of other kids in school and we learned to walk away from trouble instead of fighting. Don’t get me wrong, we weren’t angels but we stayed out of the ways of trouble. I commend my parents for the person I’ve become and the independence they instilled in my life today. I’ve used the knowledge to shape the person I want to be and some day the mother I want to be for my kids. My parents brought me up with the foundation of kindness, humbleness, and understand with a strong spiritual Christian background. Their parenting styles
September 11, 2001, marked a tragic event in U.S. history. An American Airlines Boeing 767 carrying thousands of gallons of jet fuel crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. The impact left a burning hole near the 80th floor of the skyscraper, instantly killing hundreds of people and trapping hundreds more in higher floors. As the evacuation of both towers got underway, live news feed streamed in images and videos to the public of what initially appeared to be a freak accident. Then, 18 minutes after the first plane hit, a second Boeing 767–United Airlines Flight 175–appeared out of the sky, turned sharply toward the World Trade Center and sliced into the south tower near the 60th floor. The collision caused a massive explosion that showered burning debris over surrounding buildings and all over the streets. As millions watched the events unfolding in New York City, American Airlines Flight 77 circled over downtown Washington, D.C., and crashed into the west side of the Pentagon military headquarters. America was under attack!
Positive is that my father graduated college and was the first in his family to do so and he made a life for himself. Both of my parents have provided for me and my sister throughout our lives but allowed us to understand that you have to work hard for what you want. Both my sister and I worked a job throughout high school not because we had to make help make ends meet but, because we wanted the independence of buying things that we wanted because our parents provided what we needed. My parents did a great job raising me and my sister because our way of thinking is more different that than most of our peers. My parents influence on my development has caused me to be a very sensitive person in the heart. Growing up I remember always getting yelled at for idiotic reasons. So now when I’m in a situation that I am getting yelled at I can’t stand it emotionally. Having my parents joke about my fears and habits as a child taught me that to stand up for those who are being talked about and not to talk about others. Being raised by a christain family shaped me morally but having my father not be so religious as the rest of my family has taught me to understand different views of
I quickly learned at a very young age the value of hard work. Both of my parents had worked hard to achieve their dreams of a nice home, cars, and financial stability. Their working hard not only paid off financially, but they taught my two brothers and I, that working hard was imperative to life. I was given a set of chores and an allowance every week, which taught me responsibility and how to manage money. I also realized that cooperation goes hand in hand with hard work. My brothers and I would help each other with our chores from time to time. I did not know that cooperation works on a larger scale in the workplace, that sometimes one needs help to achieve their ultimate goal.
