Have you ever wondered what happens if you don't have any friends? These two articles, "What are friends for? A longer life" and "How social Isolation is Killing Us" tells you why. The first article talks about examples on many different people having no friends and their side effects an example from the Isolation article is saying that getting a pet can cure your loneliness and depression. The second article talks about ways to not feel lonely like for example getting a pet. An example from the friend's article is stating that there is a woman that would rather be with her friends than her family.

But which article is better and gives more details on this important situation? I will have to say the article "How Social Isolation is Killing Us." I think this article is better because it gives much more examples and it goes more deep in the situation and it tells the effects on what happens. According to the text in the article, "What are friends for? A longer life" it states "Two of the friends have recently learned they have breast cancer. Kelly Zwagerman, now a high school teacher who lives in Northfield, Minn., said that when she got her diagnosis in September 2007, her doctor told her to surround herself with loved ones." This is good but it's only an example, in fact the entire article is just examples with different people. In the article "How Social Isolation is Killing Us," it states "Religious older people should be encouraged to continue regular attendance at services and may benefit from a sense of spirituality and community, as well as the watchful eye of fellow churchgoers. Those capable of caring for an animal might enjoy the companionship of a pet. And loved ones living far away from a parent or grandparent could ask a neighbor to check in periodically." This is stating that you should have a pet if you live alone because it might be the only friend you will have if your alone. Even if you have friends you should get a pet because you're not going to see your friends 24/7, but if you get a dog you will see him or her all the time and feel happy every day seeing your best friend, which is the dog.
