For as long as I can remember, music has central to my life. Some of my earliest memories are of me and my mother waiting in the car as the sun set for my older brothers to leave orchestra practice. It was, therefore, predestined (at least in the minds of my parents) that I too would one day play an instrument. The violin has been a large part of my life for the past twelve years, and has taught me some of the most valuable lessons of my life; disciple, cooperation, and creativity. All of which have helped me on my journey through life. Discipline is the focal point of learning any instrument. Motivating myself to practice for 30+ minutes most nights since I was in kindergarten frequently seemed inane, and still does at times when I look back on it. However, there is always a purpose; to become better. The most gratifying feeling in the world is not standing in front of an audience as they applaud after a performance. A good musician always knows that moment is coming. The most gratifying feeling in the world being at home on an otherwise quiet afternoon, and breaking through the singular bar that has been giving you trouble for the past few weeks, and I now know that feeling very well. This motivated me through many activities …show more content…
The way you are treated and the way you perceive yourself are usually a result of the culture you were raised in. That was not the case for me. Growing up, I had no sense of my cultural identity. I lived in the U.S., but all of my friends and the school I went too were French. My mom was black, and my dad was white, so who was I? For a very long time, I thought these cultures could not coexist. It was not until rather recently that I realized that I realized that they could, and would continue to. The different lenses I have been able to see the world through have all influenced my life, and frankly made it a much more enjoyable life to
For almost 8 years of my life, playing the cello has influenced my life in so many extraordinary ways. Choosing the cello over any instrument, was probably one of the best decisions I will have ever made, in the 5th grade. The violin was way too high, the viola was way too small, while the upright bass was way too big. I knew at that very moment that the cello was the instrument that I wanted to play. The warmth of the instruments tone, and the powerful sound that came out of the f-holes drew me in so quickly.
Music is the one thing that has been around since pretty much forever. And in that forever we've created hundreds of music genres including; Classical, Rock/Metal, Country, Pop, Jazz, Rap, and the list goes on. For thousands of years we have made and listened to music but why? I think it's because music is an emotional release for all of us. Music just makes us happier and calmer and better. Let me explain to you why I think this.
We all have our favorite genera of music, one that we believe has shaped us. For me, my musical experience began while still in the womb. While I was still a fetus, my mother would play classical music for me every day. I believe that this experience has shaped the type of music that I listen to today. When I was a child, I remember having music playing but simply as background noise. As I grew up, music became more important to me. When I entered fourth grade, music becomes something more than background noise to me. To further indulge in my love for music, in fifth grade, I joined the chorus and band. I thought that since I enjoyed listening to music, I would also enjoy making music. Being a part of the chorus was short lived for me. I sang with them for about three months and then decided it was not for me. However, the same was not true
It come to mind how I can think about a question (how has music impacted the world) a lot of judgements/beliefs came to my mind. It’s moreover prove false or an agreement using this purpose problem.
The science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, in combination, and in temporal relationships to produce a composition having unity and continuity. There are several different types of music. People listen to different kind of music depending on their mood. It can help take stress away too. My personal definition of music is describing how you feel and putting it into sound.
Music is a epitome of peace and serenity. It should not be responsible for the decisions that people make in life. There are a lot of people who listen to different types of music and most of them do not commit crimes and live regular lives like everyone else in society. While the blame for violence in general is being shifted away from popular lyrics to video games, people are still blaming most of the problems on pop music lyrics. Some children do not even pay attention to the lyrics; they just like the beat of the song. Lyrics in popular music are not harmful to children, this can be seen through the benefits that music has on a person, because they help educate young children, they benefit people who are having medical problems and they act as emotional stimulates.
The question of if a supreme being exists is one that has been asked since the birth of Christianity. An ancient Greek philosopher by the name of Protagoras once wrote, "About the gods, I am not able to know whether they exist or do not exist, nor what they are like in form; for the factors preventing knowledge are many: the obscurity of the subject and the shortness of human life". In the short story “A Good Man is Hard to Find” by Flannery O’Connor, the possibility of there not being a God impacts the perspective of a fugitive by the name of “The Misfit”. The Misfit is shown to have a troubled past, one in which he believes he was wrongly accused of murdering his father. This unjust imprisonment in the eyes of The Misfit has led to him requiring evidence for things, such as the murder of his father, in order for him to truly believe in anything.
Since I was young, music have always played a major part in my life and to this day it
Throughout my life, music has always been a major influence. It has the power to change my mood when I'm feeling down, but the thing I find most intriguing about music is that it doesn't always end up improving your mood: like all forms of art, it imitates life, which is not always portrayed in a positive light. The musicians that I admire most have the versatility to induce several different emotional responses in the same piece. This quality is present in most of the wide variety of music I listen to, from Russian composer Dmiti Shostakovich, to Chicago jazz band Tortoise, to California pop/rock sextet Mr. Bungle.
Music has been known throughout time. It can help us through everything. There are so many solutions with music to help a person go through so many situations. Music can affect many people in many different ways. Without music some people would be lost and would have no motivation. Music can provide inspiration and insight through education. Music has influence on suicides, killings and shootings, and provocative actions. It can also influence good morals, respect, allowing differences, health, and much more. Music can come in many forms and categories and music is very good for the world.
What does music mean to you? Music is something that has been around for many years. It started out as just some drums and a few instruments, but has changed a lot over time. The dictionary defines music as “an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.” When I think of music I think of it has a story combined with instrumental sounds. Over the years, it has changed so much, some for the good and the bad. There are many different types of music and different emotions it will bring.
I first started orchestra when I was 9 years old as part of the 4th grade strings program at Canterbury Woods Elementary School. I decided to join orchestra largely in part due to my older brother, who had also started orchestra in 4th grade and had continued all the way through high school and into college. He was always saying how much fun orchestra was and my parents told stories of all the fun things he did in orchestra. Therefore, I decided to follow in my brother’s footsteps and play the violin. I don’t really remember much about my orchestra years in elementary school.
I feel proud to have grown up in a musical environment, as my grandfather was a professional musician who played in several professional symphony orchestras, my mother learned violin from my grandfather, then my older brother from her and then I did. On the other hand, my father is a former Fulbright Scholar with a DMA (Doctor of Musical Arts) degree from the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati. Although they have all have been a tremendous inspiration, it was my own will, passion and love for music that led me to pursue such career.
Music has affected my entire life as I grew up and has grown to be a talent of mine. Starting in fourth grade, I joined choir and have moved up all the way to Chamber Singers at Bonita High School, the top choir available there. Though my years, I have learned music has a large impact on who I am, as it was implemented into my childhood. As of now, I sing and play percussion at my church, playing drums and Cajon. My musical ability has transformed as I have grown older, expanding as I mature.
Playing a musical instrument as a hobby, gives an immense sense of achievement and true satisfaction, in that one can never feel like playing difficult songs or playing it flawlessly. This boosts the ego and enforces sense of self-achievement, which accomplish more in other aspects of life. Playing instrument as a hobby, require regular practice and dedication. Allotting time to practice daily develops discipline in a person. This can be very advantageous to children who, research shows that everything else fails, but music disciplines children-when they are naturally curious and excited about it.
