The x-axis represents time, while the y-axis represents pitch.” Saloni Shah verbally expressed. “The Cartesian graph, used to represent music, was used by music theorists before they were introduced into geometry. In fact, many musical scores of twentieth century musicians have many forms that are similar to mathematical diagrams.” In modern times, numbers are used to understand music

After seeing the impact music can have on one person, I was enraptured with the magic of music. It hit me like a brick, creating a sense of calm once I determined what I wanted and what I could give to people. I continued to make the most out of my internship, and dug into the activities, helping plan, lead and create these engaging ideas while maintaining a psychological approach. I have also frequently administered private bassoon lessons to younger students. The ability for people to soak up knowledge like a sponge never ceases to amaze me, and teaching others has, in turn, made me a better student. The advantages to teaching frequently inspire me to better myself. Music has played a large role in my life, and performing music grants me the freedom to express and interpret the nuances of the simple black notes on the page to create a masterpiece. I am discovering myself daily, and over time, I have evolved into who I am today. My goals surround music, helping others, and bettering myself and the world around me, and the ample opportunities enable the efforts towards these
Music has always been an important part of my life. During high school I have developed areas of service and leadership through interests in children and gardening, which will continue to be major parts of my life.
Ferris High School, I was introduced to their developing jazz band. Adjusting to the schedule of a high school musician became tough, as I had to implement practice time along with daily academics. I patiently corrected my mistakes and always made sure I can perform to the best of my abilities. For the past three years, I have performed solos within concerts, and personally challenged myself to continue. Every year I have elected to compete in the New Jersey State’s Teen Arts Festival. Whether it’s a duet or solo, I use this opportunity to greatly expand my skill and learn from other musicians. Becoming a member of a band in middle school and high school has helped me develop into the person I am today. I’ve become more responsible, confident, and gained valuable knowledge. In the future, I expect to continue playing music, both instrumental and digital. Music has been a constant reminder that there’s always something new and with proper dedication, you can achieve your goals. Music is the third most important thing to me in life outside of god and my mom. Music keeps me balanced. Every since I was a baby music was played around me. Jazz was always played around me to soothe me. There would be times when I would be really hyper acting like I couldn't sleep, my mom would put on some jazz and I would be fine. A lot of times I can have a long chore and I say to my self how can I accomplish this, Knowing it will take me forever. So I'll put on some jazz music and in twenty-five minutes I'm finished.
Music has absolutely been an enormous part of my life and who I am. However,
Music has always been a big part of my life. Music is not just a bunch of melodies, rhythms, and vibrant sounds. It is a comfort to me. The lyrics of a song challenge my intellect and the rhythms and beats affect my emotions. Music understands me when people don’t. At times it takes me back to an event in my life or even in history. Both consciously and subconsciously my mind remembers the emotions that are attached to a certain song. It can make me feel on top of the world or the complete opposite; music can change the atmosphere and also set the mood. Music has power over my human soul. It soothes it. I cannot imagine not having music to listen to. It is a powerful force and my love for it is incredible.
