For Christians it is compulsory to be involved in society as their lord, Jesus Christ commands them to. In order to be accepted into heaven they need to follow Jesus’ example and emerge themselves within society and work to meet the needs of others. In the ‘Good Samaritan’ it says, “Love your neighbour as you love yourself.” Jesus reinforces this by telling the parable of a Samaritan that helps a robbed man and then says, “Go do likewise”. This shows that in order for Christians to be spiritually fulfilled they need to help others as much as they help themselves. Through serving others, Christians get a step closer to fulfilling their lives and strengthen their relationship with God in the process. In John 13, Jesus says, “Now that I, your …show more content…
Christians involving themselves actively in society allows them to be challenged by evil and witness acts that disregard God and Jesus’ teachings. In John 8, Jesus tells the people who are willing to stone a woman that committed adultery “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” This portrays the purity of Jesus and his decision to allow someone who has committed a sin to redeem herself within Christ and God. This also shows that the people who are tempted to throw stones choose wisely avoiding temptation by the devil to sin …show more content…
Each year a majority of Australians celebrate Christmas and Easter, these century old traditions and rituals would not exist without Christianity. These holidays play such a major part in our culture and revolutionised the way we spend time with our loved ones. Because of this Christians have a right to be involved in Australian society as they celebrate these same holidays but for them Christmas and Easter have a deeper, more spiritual meaning. Overall, Christianity being involved in society does not affect anyone in a negative way, as Christians are taught good morals and strong principles. The way Christians are taught can be seen predominately in Christian schools where young people are taught the principles in an environment of peace and tranquillity. The good in which Christianity achieves can be seen through the amount of Catholic schools alone in Australia, the total amount for just one denomination is 1710. These schools teach children to carry on the work of Jesus and do good in the world, which is evident through the indigenous and homeless programs ran initiated by the church and carried on through people of the Christian
The strengths of the Christian worldview is that no one has to worry about not being accepted by God. God loves all people which is why His son, Jesus Christ, died for the sins of the world not just believers. Another strength is that because God is a forgiving Lord, Christians will still have a relationship with Him even if they fall off the path of God. The weakness of the Christian faith is that it is just that, having faith in something you cannot see. Christians must hold the Bible as true and know that God is always with us even when it doesn’t feel like it. God works in mysterious ways. Christianity influences a person’s behavior because a Christian would be more aware of their actions to live a life like Jesus. A Christian may also be more prone to helping others because we are taught in the Bible to love everyone and be selfless. This contradicts someone who is an atheist being that their good works are for nothing since they do not believe in any sort of higher
...holidays is a good thing. Family is usually the key to the upbringing of a young person. It appears that while the youth are supported and encouraged by their family, they will attend church on regular occasions. It is of a high concern that if families choose not to attend church, the children don’t go either. This is of high concern for the future as the number of young people who actually attend church is decreasing and therefore the religious community will resultantly suffer. A person’s values and morals are heavily linked to the Christian teachings. If people do not practice religion regularly or become involved in some way there will be a great decrease in a person’s morals and values and there will be a great increase in negative behavior in society. Much of the Australian society celebrates their days off; disregarding the religious aspects of the holiday.
While Christianity played a crucial part in all aspects of Australian society throughout the pre-federation years 1788 to 1900, it had a significant impact on education and public morality.
Christians wi... ... middle of paper ... ... e; for instance depending on their economic situation, or amount of free time and number of family commitments. Whether it be giving a few pounds a month to various charities, or getting directly involved in groups such as Chrisitian aid, God will honour all those who dedicate a fraction of their lives to the poverty stricken. God does not expect a million mother Teresa's, but what he does desire is that every Christian makes some sort of contribution.
I serve to Jesus every day by taking time out my day to help others. When my classmates or friends are struggling with something I try to assist them
This paper intends to argue that one particular element of colonisation for Indigenous communities in Australia – Christianity – was a more positive force for Torres Strait Islanders than for Aboriginal peoples.
They make a carnal argument that we cannot see Jesus, we cannot hear Jesus, and we cannot receive anything from Jesus. So why do we serve Jesus? And of course, we make the counter argument that we do indeed see Him with our spiritual eye; we do indeed hear His voice, not with our ears, but with our heart, and we do indeed receive the daily gift of His guidance as Deliverer. But many scoff and simply turn away.
Analysis of the Work of Christian Aid The agency I have chosen to analyse and explain about for my chosen religious agency is ‘Christian Aid.’ I have chosen them, because I believe overall that they do the correct thing to help the needy. Christian aid is an agency of the churches in the UK and Ireland; Christian Aid works wherever the need is greatest, irrespective of religion. Christian Aid supports local organisations, which are best, placed to understand local needs, as well as giving help on the ground through 16 overseas offices.
With the arrival of immigrants from places like India and other parts of Asia since the 1970s there has been an increase in the number of followers of non-Christian religions. Hinduism has grown as a religion due to the increased immigration of people from places like India. Buddhism has also grown. It is now the biggest non-Christian religion in Australia. Of the other religions, Islam continues to grow while the number of people following Judaism has been pretty constant. So ethnic background continues to effect how people view religion in Australia today. However, ( Andrew West and Professor Des Cahill, 2012 ) argue that Australia is becoming more religious but religious in different ways, particularly through non-religious choices. More people chose the "No Religion" option in the 2011 census than in past censuses.

The rise of Christianity in western civilization is arguably among the most important memories in history. There is no denying what the spread of Christianity has done for the world, for better or worse. Its impact on western civilizations is unrivaled and unprecedented. Christianity slowly became something for many individuals to turn to; in times of hurt it provided comfort, in times of pleasure it gave thanks. The will and belief for salvation has driven individuals to be better, and to have a reference while in need.
Since the church’s duty is to help those in need, the church provides food and other necessities in the community. The church makes a difference in the lives of the community and gives hope to the
Jesus taught what it meant to truly love each person unrequitedly. In John 8:1-11, Jesus is confronted with by the Pharisees with a woman who was caught in adultery. The Jewish Law dictated that the woman should be stoned to death because of her sin. Jesus responds to the woman’s accusers by declaring “Let anyone among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” The crowds dispersed, because they realized that none of them were free of
If we open our lives and give service to those less fortunate than ourselves, we allow our hearts to receive immeasurable happiness. When we sacrifice our time to help someone in need, whether it is a great or small need, we become a part of their life and can help alleviate heavy burdens. Making time to help people in need creates opportunities for us to develop new and lasting relationships. Serving our fellowmen allows the best in each of us to shine through and we can become examples to our children.
Christianity most specifically, the Holy Roman Catholic Church has been involved in the world throughout time. Since Christianity, when if first became a major religion in society the involvement of the Roman Catholic Church has affected many areas of history. The Roman Catholic Church has affected the world historically, as demonstrated by it's impact upon the historical figures like Hypatia, Joan of Arc, and Jan Hus, historical events such as the Salem Witch Trials, and many other eras and events. The Roman Catholic Church slowed down scientific advancement during the Middle Ages when they had the greatest control over society, due to their personal beliefs. Finally, the Roman Catholic Church for a time changed the world ethically for women and homosexuals, although this is not inclusive. Without the extreme control the Roman Catholic Church had, the world would be a completely different place to live in. To prove this, topics such as the effect the Roman Catholic Church has had throughout history, how science has been affected by the Roman Catholic Church, and how the Roman Catholic Church has affected society ethically to a small and temporary degree.
