As every American knows Disneyland, "Happiest place on earth", but many people do not know much about the person behind Disneyland, Walt Elias Disney. Disney is best known for his many successes, such as famous movies like The Lion King, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story, and The Little Mermaid. Disney is also known for the most famous amusement park in America, Disneyland and California Adventure (depends on who you are asking, Disneyland is the original park), for all ages to forget about reality, for children to be children, and adults to become the children they once were. However, people from around the world only see and hear of Disney's successes. What people are forgetting is how Disney became famous. As a child Disney had …show more content…

His mother was a common stay at home mother, and his father was a farmer, who jumped from work to work, leading to the whole family to relocate a source Paul Jerome Croce states about Disney's life (91). As a child it was difficult for Disney to focus working on the farm, he always had his mind stuck on drawing animated animal characters, and later on as a teen he dropped out of high school when he was 17 as well as his brothers who ran away from home to get away from their strict father. When Disney ran away he served in World War I as an ambulance driver (ic.galegroup.com)(Croce 92). This is a comparison to Malcolm Gladwells story in Outliers about Chris Langan in "The Trouble with Geniuses, Part 2",Walt Disneys childhood is similar to Chris Langan. Chris Langan had a troubled life he was very poor and his father would come in and out of their life. Langan and his brothers also had to move from town to town because his father kept getting fired from every job he got. The Langan boy also had to stay away from home because of their trouble family, one brother was in foster care and the other sent to reform school (Gladwell 92).
