Was it the young love between the fair Romeo and Juliet, or was it the family conflicts that fell upon them that led to the demise of the love or relationship? Romeo and Juliet, told by the great Shakespeare. Upon reading or even watching Romeo and Juliet, you can see two roles that led to Romeo and Juliet’s relationship demise. There's the possibility that their young love was too unstable and caused their relationship to collapse, or it was because of the family feud between Montague and Capulet that tore their relationship apart from the seams. Yes, young love can be proven to be unstable and can cause relationships to fall apart. However, Romeo and Juliet's story shows more about how a family feud can ruin their love. I believe that it …show more content…
Furthermore, it now has to be explained how, in fact, the family feud was actually able to fuel this feeling of loneliness and acts of impulsivity. There are two main ways that show how the family feuds, one in the form of a quote and the other in the form of an action. The quote by Juliet states, “O Romeo, Romeo! Why are you named Romeo? Disown your family and refuse your name. Or, if you will not, then swear that you love me, and I’ll stop being a Capulet.” This quote alone shows how Juliet and Romeo even recognize that the family feud is keeping them apart. The difference in names is what is causing them the pain of being separated and the start of their demise. Romeo even follows up on this sentence by agreeing and saying that I will disown my family name if it means that they could be together. The action that shows that it's the family feud that caused their demise is the biggest turning point in the story. When Tybalt kills Mercutio, Romeo then kills Tybalt, but Romeo is then banished. This action was caused alone by their feud; even Tybalt said before that he hated Montagues and especially
Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, is a story of two young lovers. These two hearts, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet belong to feuding families. The family feud causes them to keep their love a secret and therefore only Romeo, Juliet, Benvolio, the Nurse and Friar Lawrence know of their love. Romeo and Juliet are able to look past the feud and let themselves fall in mad love with the other. They let themselves do almost anything for the other and at times it seems like too much to do, even for the one they love. Although fate and character traits play a key role in the play, ultimately Rome and Juliet’s personal choices lead to their downfall.Fate originates all of the conflicts in Romeo and Juliet, from when they met until they die.
The fierceness of their fight was also shown when Mercutio died and Tybalt died. On the other hand, the movies’ feud was very real, and the families were constantly fighting with hardly any stopping. In both the movie and the original, the feud was resolved by the two families realizing, through the death of their children, that their feud was pointless and caused them a lot of pain and suffering. The feud cost them the lives of other family member: Tybalt, Romeo, Juliet, and Lady Montague, or friends, like Mercutio. Something that was surprising was that Tybalt still died in the movie.
There are two families that hate each other Romeo's family the Montague's and Juliet's family the Capulet's. The families have hated each other for many generations. Romeo and Juliet met at a party even though Lord Capulet has found Juliet a husband but she doesn't like him and falls in love with Romeo who was previously in love with Rosaline. Romeo and Juliet get married in secret hoping in the long run that this deed will end the family feud but Juliet's family don't know about the wedding. Mercutio Romeo's best friend and Tybalt Juliet's cousin get into a fight and Mercutio dies but Romeo turns up and kills Tybalt. Romeo is banished to Mantua for killing Tybalt so Juliet isn't happy because she has lost two of the people she cares about most.
First of all, The Montague’s and Capulet’s hatred for one another shows another depth about how human errors create the setting of Romeo and Juliet’s death. If only both families had gotten along from the beginning, the two star-crossed lovers could have had a friendship from the very start. If the families were close when they were young, they could have grown up to realize that the two were in love. Juliet would have been able to tell her parents, and that way, they would have been ecstatic about the engagement. The reason this is their fault is because if they had been on civil terms with each other, the deaths wouldn’t have occurred. Shakespeare almost made it appear like the parents did it on purpose for them to have to go behind their backs. Romeo and Tybalt’s battle to the death was also fault of the families disliking each other, and if this conflict had not taken place, the wedding wouldn’t have been forced upon Juliet. In this case, she ...
First off, the feud between the two families in Romeo and Juliet was one of the main focal points. The feud was a long-lasting event in Romeo and Juliet. In Act 2, scene 3, Romeo and Juliet’s marriage caused the feud to grow worser than before. However, Tybalt’s death is another thing that caused the two families
The feud meant that they had to keep their relationship under wraps and tip-toe around their families. The ancient grudge between the two families meant that if one member of either family found out about Romeo and Juliet then they would be killed, ‘If they do see thee, they will murder thee.’ The family feud between the Montague and Capulet families could also be held responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because they both grew up with people dieing within the families because of the grudge. For instance Mercutio and Tybalt, Mercutio was a very loyal friend of Romeo’s and Tybalt was Juliet’s cousin. The deaths of these characters meant that Romeo and Juliet were both distressed and unhappy, and thus could have given more reason to their own deaths, ‘ A’ Thursday let it be, a’ Thursday, tell her,
60-61). Romeo’s love for Juliet motivated his decision because he wanted to be with her once again, “Well, Juliet, I will lie with thee to-night” (5.1. 34). He loved Juliet tremendously that he took his own life without questioning if she was actually dead, all to be reunited with her. The major conflict in Romeo’s life was that he gets banished from Verona because he killed Tybalt and has to be far away from Juliet. The prince decides that to bring justice to the Capulets, Romeo must be banished from Verona, “Therefore use none: let Romeo hence in haste” (3.1. 190). This created conflict in Romeo’s life because he was newly-wedded to Juliet only a few hours prior and was forced to be separate from Juliet. Lord Montague’s relationship Romeo is not depicted in the play so the audience assumes that there relationship is not that close. Friar Laurence is like a father figure to Romeo because he gives Romeo wise advice and guides him on the right path. Before Romeo and Juliet get married, Friar Laurence gives Romeo advice and tells him to be careful because passion dies out eventually, “These violent delights have violent ends”
I believe these feelings transferred to the two families’ offspring, causing them to be born with a hatred for the opposing family. Due to this constant war between the families, Romeo and Juliet seem to have been trying to go against their respective parents, and be together, in what I believe, was an act of rebellion, something which is very common and occurs a lot still now. “Adolescent rebellion begins as a result of the desire for independence. It is a developmental norm. In fact, if you have the sneaking suspicion that teenage rebellion may be inevitable, you’re right! Pretty much every teenager will test the limits – and even cross the line – at one time or another.”
In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, the two lovers are always held back from meeting each other due to their family feud. This forced them to hide their relationship from their families and get into major consequences. The cause of Romeo and Juliet giving up their lives to be with each other should be blamed on their families actions. Tybalt and Mercutio are always provoking each other to fight which ends up in a lot of deaths. This results in Romeo being blamed and getting banished from Verona. Due to the family feud Romeo and Juliet's wedding is kept a secret which ends up with a lot of conflicts. Juliet's father is forcing her to marry Paris, this is one of the major reasons why Juliet and Romeo give up their lives to be
To begin with, Shakespeare intentionally created the rivalry between the Montague and Capulet families in order to show the hate and suffering that the family feud has caused. Throughout the text, there were many terrible actions caused either out of love, or out of hate. Out of hate and vengeance for Mercutio’s death, Romeo felt honor-bound to kill the man responsible: Tybalt. “Either thou or I, or both, must go with him.”
In the classic romantic tale of The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, the main characters, Romeo and Juliet are deeply in love with each other, but from the beginning of the play we know that they would never be able to be together because of family disputes. When reading the prologue, it says “Two households, both alike in dignity, from ancient grudge break to new mutiny, where civil blood makes civil hands unclean” (Shakespeare Prologue.1-4). Before the play even starts, we know how much these families hate each other and that blood is involved with a bad ending for all. Romeo comes from the Montague’s, and Juliet comes from the Capulet’s. These two families were in war with each other from the beginning of the story and these family disputes play a huge role in the death of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo has a passion for love that is unbreakable and he will do anything to get who he wants no matter the consequences that might follow. An example of this is
The novel In His Steps was written by Dr. Charles M. Sheldon, who was a local pastor in Topeka, Kansas. He wrote the novel as one chapter long sermons, he would then tell a chapter each week at his church. So after Dr. Sheldon was preaching to a full crowd and later published the collections as one novel.
The Conflict Between Two Families in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet The play ‘Romeo And Juliet’ is a very dramatic one. The conflict between the two families is key to the play as a whole. If they’re where no. conflict. They would just be allowed to be together.
Family feuds lead to tragedy for everyone involved. William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is a prime example of this. In this play, an ancient family feud brews up, tragically taking the lives of two young lovers. If not for: (1) The hatred between the two families, (2) The secrecy within Romeo and Juliet’s relationship, and (3) The aggressive tendencies of Tybalt, all caused or exacerbated by the feud, Romeo and Juliet would not have met their tragic demises.
Firstly, the Capulets and Montagues are at odds with each other. Members of each house and servants break into a sword fight, clashing with each other. Sampson says "Draw, if you be men. Gregory, remember thy swashing blow." (Act 1, Scene 1, Line 60). The feuding between the two families motivates Sampson to challenge the Capulets. Another example of how the two houses despise each other is what Romeo and his friends have to do to get into the Capulet feast. So they will not be recognized, Romeo, Mercutio, and Benvolio wear comic masks to hide their faces. Mercutio says, "Give me a case to put my visage in" (Act 1, Scene 4, Line 29). They do not want to be recognized because of the hatred between the two houses. Also, Romeo and Juliet are not supposed to be in love: "My only love sprung from my only hate! / Too early seen unknown, and known too late! / Prodigious birth of love it is to me, / That I must love a loathed enemy." says Juliet (Act 1, Scene 5, Lines 137-140). They are not supposed to love each other because it just so happens that each of their houses despise each other. It is unfortunate for Romeo and Juliet that their two families are against each other, because this means that they are not supposed to be married.
