In reality, there are a lot of remakes of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, but none of them are quite like Kelly Asbury’s Gnomeo and Juliet. The name itself is pretty bizarre. Gnomeo and Juliet takes the audience on a rollercoaster of different emotions: hatred, hope, happiness, pity, and even anger. Gnomeo and Juliet is very different from the original, but somehow they are still very similar in character’s traits, the fight between the families, and the theme areas.

The fierceness of their fight was also shown when Mercutio died and Tybalt died. On the other hand, the movies’ feud was very real, and the families were constantly fighting with hardly any stopping. In both the movie and the original, the feud was resolved by the two families realizing, through the death of their children, that their feud was pointless and caused them a lot of pain and suffering. The feud cost them the lives of other family member: Tybalt, Romeo, Juliet, and Lady Montague, or friends, like Mercutio. Something that was surprising was that Tybalt still died in the movie. They kept his death, even though it’s a kid’s movie, because his death served an important role in bringing the movie to the main fight, the climax. If they had not kept his death, the Red family (the Capulets) would’ve never gotten angry and kicked Gnomeo onto the street causing him to be “banished”. He didn’t come home until the main fight, which happened because the Blue’s (the Montagues) wanted revenge for “killing” (that’s what they thought had happened) Gnomeo. In summary, if Tybalt had not been killed, they would not have been lead to the climax and then resolution. If they hadn’t done that then they could have kept fighting and kept their feud
