Amenities, location, packages, rates, special offers - just a few of the many factors that are considered when choosing the functions of a hotel. I was very curious to see how different types of hotels differ in what they offer, how they offer it, and where they offer it. These services are extremely significant because they are what define a hotel. They define what type of guests they are targeting, what type of hotel they want to be perceived as, and what level of service they want to deliver to their guests. The impression of the hotel left on the guest is essential for the success of the hotel. The idea of adding amenities to keep up with competition or getting creative with services offered is not new. The Journal of Retail & Leisure Property mentioned that starting in the 1970’s, “hotels and resorts tried to gain market share from their competitors by increasing amenities in the guest rooms.” The services and amenities have always been a factor when deciding what approach to take when trying to find the most success. By comparing an average 2-3 star hotel with a 5-star hotel, I was able to gain a better understanding of the different services offered in hotels and the different expectations that certain guests have in their stay.

The hotel we were staying in was Hampton Inn. Using the hotel key was kind of troublesome at first but that didn’t matter. When we got in to the room, it looked reasonably tidy and well-kept although, there were some minor issues. First, I noticed there was a stain that was on the curtain. And second, the box of tissues in the bathroom was wet. These issues weren’t too major but they are some things to look out for.
A result of good quality of laundry service will be repeat sales and positive word-of-mouth for the business. Quality products help to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty and reduce the risk and cost of replacing faulty goods. (Kumar Chetan, 2015)
Saloon hygiene and cleanliness is considered one of the most significant conditions when customers evaluate overall Saloon quality or decide their levels of satisfaction. Bacteria can be found anywhere that there is dust or dirt. It can be exist in water, in air, on clothing, or on the skin. In a salon environment, a disease can be easily transmitted from unclean hands, unclean hairdressing accessories, dirty towels and drinking cups. As we know hygiene and cleanliness in saloon will come into direct contact with customer, through using tools and equipment such as combs and towels (Johnson, May 2004). This is important to build perceptions of saloon cleanliness in customers’ eyes.
Each staff member of the restaurant should have nice and clean hygiene along with good manners. Having good hygiene is very important whether an employee is waiting tables, washing dishes, or cooking. If an employee does not shower friction will start to grow between the staff and no one would like to work or even be around that employee. Working in the food service industry with overgrown nails or dirty nails is against the health code and could contaminate the food being prepared by the employee. Being around a customer with bad hygiene could possibly hinder the customer from having a memorable time at the restaurant. Having good manners is also mandatory for every staff member so that no problems can surface between the staff and customers. Steve Marchetti explained that each employee are to meet the minimal standards set forth in the employee handbook and also deliver on the company?s commitment to their customers (Marchetti). Water-Tourists require clean and dependable water for survival including drinking, cooking and cleansing. However, the hotel uses water for other amenities, which are expected by the tourists such as, swimming pools, spas, etc. The most water used in hotels are in the laundry room, kitchen, restroom and landscaping. Hotels spend a lot of money on water; 10% of the utility bills for the hotel accounts for water (Tuppen H. ,
