I am planning on taking honors English 10 next year. Because English 9 does not do grammar, but Honors does, I was wondering if there was something I could do over the summer to be prepared for the grammar next year. I know it is the end of the year and everyone is super busy but if you could put together some grammar papers or let me sign out a grammar book for the summer it would be much appreciated.

Throughout this semester, I was able to learn many writing skill and was able to develop as a writer. When I found out that I was scheduled to be in English Composition I, I was very nervous as I have always felt that writing was one of the skills that I needed to improve on. Although I usually received good grades on my essays, I did not like writing them since it would always take me more than five hours to write a one page essay. If I wanted a good grade in English Composition I, I knew that I was definitely going to have to improve on my grammars. The main skills that we learned in this class were writing a clear thesis statement, paragraph structures, and sensory details. Through this class, I was able to attain more knowledge in these areas and gain confidence in my writing skills. Many students think their general education classes are going to be easy. This assumption is usually made because they are the basis of all of the advanced classes. When students sign up for classes for their degree, English 101 is often a requirement. Therefore, students put it on their schedule without a second thought. Most students do not realize how hard such a basic class could be. Mrs. Fox’s English 101 class is hard because it is time consuming, requires a lot of responsibility, and contains a difficult grading system.
English 111 is the first English course you will need to take if your program of study requires any English classes. To be able to take any other English courses you must have completed and passed English 111. If you have experience in or enjoy writing papers you will pass this course with no issues. To pass English 111 you will need to do three things keep up with your absences, write your essays to the best of your ability, turn them on the day they are due, and participate in peer reviews.
The freshman fifteen is a belief that students in their first year of college gain fifteen pounds. However, is the estimated weight gain of fifteen pounds actually accurate, and what would the cause of this weight gain be? Students typically gain weight their first year of college for various reasons. Some of the reasons that they gain weight are because they can't afford healthy food, they do not know how to cook, they do not have time to exercise, and they do not have time to make a proper meal.
Freshman year is where the foundation of a long lasting education begins. With english as a core class, the subjects we’ve covered have given a great base to build off of, especially as honors students. However, things weren’t always easy: critical thinking and extra effort was needed to accommodate for challenging concepts. Through it all we prevailed and have learned a multitude of new topics. Technology has had a huge impact on modern day society. So many things we take for granted and do not even seem to notice. Now, a day is a miracle that has only served to improve our world as a whole. Air travel, modern medicine, global communication, and agricultural technology are just a few things that have had huge everlasting effects on humans.
Would you say you were in love as an adolescent? Teenagers can be in love. They can be in love because many people have wedded and stayed with their senior high boyfriend or girlfriend. Also it is beneficial to be in a serious relationship at a young age. In senior high, couples go through a lot together so they are stronger as a couple. Adolescents can be in love despite the fact that people may not think they are mature enough.
A large part of an English teacher’s job deals with helping students find their own voices amidst the many teachings of their parents and peers. A student’s voice can be their values, their interests, and their perspectives of the world in which they live. Their voice can be their critical questioning of the many situations they face, whether in a text, the school cafeteria, or a park after school. It is the job of an English teacher to aid in finding this voice through their writing. It is by putting words and thoughts down on paper that a student can sometimes feel comfortable enough to take risks and find their true voices. Although traditional grammar instruction has long been thought to improve this skill, this is no longer the case. Instead, by providing a classroom environment in which students are immersed in classic literature from many genres including poetry, short stories, and novels, students will learn how to harness grammar for their own purposes of finding their voice in their writing.
It's the last day of freshman year and I feel great. I accomplished what I wanted to accomplish, I passed all my freshman classes and am now a sophomore.
It is not uncommon to say that grammar instruction plays an important role in language teaching. Regarding the status and importance of grammar teaching, a variety of opinions have been made. Batstone (1994) states that “language without grammar would be chaotic: countless words without the indispensable guidelines for how they can be ordered and modified” (p. 4). More vividly, Wang (2010) makes two similes. She compares grammar to the frame of a house, which is a decisive factor to ensure the solidness of it. Additionally, she regards grammar as a walking stick, whose function is to help and support students to learn English. Thus, the nature of grammar instruction manifests its own significance as it helps students enhance their overall language proficiency by integrating grammar into other aspects of learning, like listening, speaking, reading and writing.
All the grammar courses were designed for the intensive students at Nong Lam University – Center for Foreign Studies. Most students here are university students. They study English for their graduation and for their job interviews. These students take 20 periods each week for their English studies. They spend 12 weeks each course with 240 periods on learning intensive English. Most of the materials are designed for communicative approach. These students have to take 2 courses in order to complete their elementary level of English in order to have enough background to learn TOEFL. During each course, they have 36 periods to work with grammar. In other words, they have totally 72 periods to finish their Basic English Grammar (two courses). The Center has been using the grammar book “Fundamentals of English Grammar” of Betty Schrampfer Azar.
