Honor Codes are seen in many diverse school systems from kindergarten to twelfth grade. Some may even say containing an Honors Code might be ineffective in order to prevent plagiarism. An Honors sure code should be established and maintained in Windham High School in order to improve a student and their work academically, prevent plagiarism and also because it’s easy to adapt and fit into the school system. One reason why Windham High School should establish and maintain an honor code is because the student will learn more independence while improving themselves and their work. The student will not longer rely on the internet and or a peer for their work resulting in critical thinking being used more often. Across the nation, schools, colleges and universities have established honor codes in their campuses to discourage cheating and promote academic integrity. Whether or not their honor codes are effective is a topic well debated and both sides have merit. At my school, Brookwood High School, the honor code should be revised, for only in an environment where the students are involved, consequences for cheating are high, and a culture of honor and integrity are established, can such as system thrive and succeed.
After some research on other university honor codes, the processes of honor codes are really similar to the University of Colorado at Boulder. It’s not enough to construct and present requirements--there has to be a swaying factor to influence the consideration of cheating. A brilliant approach of this would be “a requirement for students to write a pledge of honor on every piece of work submitted” (Source B).

An honor code can affect students’ behavior positively by the student knowing between what is right and what is wrong; that builds a principle that student will follow for the rest of their life. In order to end this unjustified system, the honor code at my school must revise so that all students receive the proper credit that they deserve.
