1. Please list any time constraints you may have during Spring and Fall 2018. This should include work, night classes, meetings and other campus involvement a. I currently work at the disability center as an exam proctor. My schedule changes weekly, but I typically work less than 10 hours a week. I am also involved in Mizzou for Malawi which meets every Wednesday night at 8pm. Additionally, I am involved in Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and have chapter every Monday at 6pm. I also serve as the chapter’s philanthropy co-chairmen, which takes up about 2-3 hours a week. 2. I believe that I am qualified for the Outreach Committee, because I am very organized, personable and timely. I believe that it is important to get as much participation as possible in Homecoming. Last year, I served as the Vice President of my sorority and learned a variety of things that I believe make me qualified for this position. Throughout my time, I became comfortable speaking in front of a group 250 girls each week while presenting on various topics. I had to communicate with many people as I oversaw 20 committee heads, Homecoming, RAMS, and Greek Week Liaisons. At the beginning of each semester I hosted overall committee head meetings to go over dates, budgets, and goals for each position. As stated above, I oversaw our chapter’s homecoming liaisons so I was aware of the hard work, dedication, communication and transparency that went into our chapter being successful. Within our chapter I helped the liaison promote various homecoming events as well as serving as a liaison between the chapter, executive board, and the overall …show more content…
I believe that I am qualified for the Service Committee, because I can coordinate, promote, lead and organize events. Additionally, I served as the service liaison for Tri Sigma for Homecoming 2016. In this position, I learned how to coordinate all the service events within our chapter and explain the importance of giving back to the community. Some tasks that I implemented was creating a google spreadsheet with times/dates in advance for the members to sign up. To ensure proper attendance, I required an email/phone number column on the signup sheet to notify women days in advance about the upcoming event they had signed up for. To keep track of the cans donated I made a spreadsheet with all member’s names and the amount of cans/money donated. Each week I would make announcements during chapter to inform women of the upcoming events as well as how many cans we have donated so
At a young age I knew as an African American woman through activism, educational autonomy, and community service, I can thrive through the wake of extreme poverty and turmoil faced by the people of my neighborhood of East New York. My interest in Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., would be based solely on their ethical standards, history, and values they are founded upon. The ladies of this organization exude exemplary character who excel in sisterhood, respect, honesty, accountability, and integrity. Throughout my life I always encouraged myself to have these ideal characteristics without knowing that one day I would be pursuing membership in a prestigious organization, whom upheld the key principles “greater service, greater progress. The first
I believe that my academic background has prepared me perfectly to be a member of this great organization. While a student at Syracuse University, I had the opportunity
I am seeking membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated to be a part of a sisterhood that leads and serves. I would love to join a sisterhood that serves the community, promotes academic achievement and builds self-esteem in students of all walks of life from primary to adulthood. In addition, I wish to expand my public service through educational development. As an educator, serving children and families through toy drives and youth mentorships would afford me countless opportunities to give back beyond the walls of my classroom, dance stage, and church. With my dedication, compassion, and creativity, I know I will work diligently to produce a strong impact on the sorority’s current programs and aid to create new
Once I am a fully initiated member of the Fraternity I will attend chapter weekly. The entire pledge class bonds and learns about the Fraternity, ideals, and history together. Chi Omega also plans activities that helps us bond together as sisters, such a flag football against the other sororities, or even something as simple as ice cream out together. These activities bring us together as a discourse community very frequently. This year we had the largest pledge class in the history of the Sigma Zeta chapter at 24 girls. Every year there are two recruitment periods, one in the fall and the other in the spring. It is during these periods that the fraternity replenishes the members that went alumna with new
Women of Delta, especially the ladies of the Alpha Tau Chapter, excel excessively in everything they accomplish and partake in from what I have seen on Southern Universities campus and in the community. Their outstanding work ethics, academics success, social friendliness, dominating attitudes, and constant need to help others is just a few explanations why I would be honored to be a lovely member of ...
Day in and day out we hear about high school and college students wanting to pursue a sorority and/or a fraternity based on the stereotypes these organizations uphold, well I chose to differ. I told myself if I ever decided to become a member of a sorority it would be based solely on their ethical standards, history, and values they are founded upon. Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated consists of ladies of distinction and exemplary character who excel in scholarship, leadership, and service, which are qualities I have chosen to uphold. From my perspective, I encourage myself to maintain a respectable appearance and reputation which doing so inspires me to embrace my self-concept; which helps me confidently excel academically and professionally as a “lady of distinction” and “exemplary character.” Most importantly, I continuously remain involved in community service, being involved allows me the opportunity to learn and understand the lives and circumstances of others by opening my mind, heart, and soul. Overall these qualities strengthen my passion to be a member of the prestigious Alp...
I believe the biggest skill that I possess that will maintain Alpha Kappa Alpha’s status is the desire to help. As a sorority that holds service at a high standard, I believe having that drive to help in
To me the purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is to promote sisterhood and unity, serve the community, and build lifelong bonds. Therefore, I am seeking membership in order to be a part of a sisterhood that
Walking into college, I always wanted to join a brotherhood. But, it was hard to find the one for me at first. After striking out on a few other fraternities at SEMO, I didn’t know if Greek Life was for me. But after talking one night with Brian Smith, I would give my one last shot to Sigma Nu. Looking back, I couldn’t have been happier with my decision. Over the past few months I have grown into a better person and have achieved goals I wouldn’t have even thought about being able to achieve. Looking back throughout my candidate process I can say I have strived for Love, Truth, and Honor.
The National Honor Society upholds four pillars of excellence that all members attain; scholarship, service, leadership, and character. While these four ideals are present in all members I believe that I withhold these characteristics, as well as numerous others, which qualifies me as an ideal scholar and member of the National Honor Society. These assets are not adequately portrayed in my application, but are equally important to scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Scholarship, leadership, character, service and citizenship are the key building blocks to a successful National Honor Society member. I believe that I represent and exemplify these attributes and possess qualities that would contribute positively to the grandioseness of National Honor Society. Scholarship is an essential key to a successful student and I believe I harbor this characteristic, as I have a vehement commitment to learning. In my opinion, education is crucial to have a prosperous life, therefore, I spend an abundance of my time diligently acquiring knowledge. Moreover, I consistently work to the best of my ability, regardless of merit or acknowledgment.
I believe that in order to be a part of this program that I need to excel academically and demonstrate the characteristics that NJHS looks for. I should be chosen to be a member of this program because I display the characteristics required to be a part of NJHS. Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Citizenship, and Character are all things that I show and that I know I have. If I am chosen to be a part of this program, I promise to follow through as best as I can do. I will fulfill my duties as a member of NJHS and help others to the best of my
The four pillars of the prestigious National Honor Society demonstrate the traits I hope to continually develop: as a scholar, a leader, a volunteer and a person of strong moral fiber. I believe myself to be mature and motivated; I have an unyielding commitment to scholarship and intend to make a difference in the lives of everyone around me. The prospect of becoming a member has prompted me to take a look upon what I wish to accomplish as a part of this organization. By becoming an active participant, my goal is to enrich my school experience by means of volunteering in the community, serving as a role model for my peers, and fostering pride for our school.
If I am chosen as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I will work hard to uphold the reputation and exceed the standards that those before me have set. I believe becoming a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. means joining a group of highly educated women that together I believe are capable of facilitating the type of change that is imperative in today’s society. It is my hope that I will be accepted as a member and be afforded the opportunity to take part in that change. I look forward to hearing from you regarding my request to join your
Also, I have been granted spots in Alpha Chi Honor Society and Psi Chi Honor Society. This past year, I served as secretary at Alpha Chi. This position helped me learn how to work well with other members of a leadership team, and helped me create a successful food drive for those in need in Anderson. Being a part of a leadership team was an awarding experience, and I am excited to be a part of it again this coming fall.
