The feedback that I received from these questionnaires outlined that all learners felt that they were given time to effectively carry out the home practice. Issues such as ‘life’, ‘time’, ‘no issues with the children’ and ‘issues with the children in placement’ were all outlined as barriers that prevented them from completing their home practice effectively. Cooper, Lindsay, and Nye, 2000 highlight ‘’In recent years homework has been once again viewed by many as an inconvenience and intrusion into family life and as an impediment to a full and active social life’’. As teacher, I need to be mindful that the implementation of home practice can be another source of added pressure and anxiety to me my learners. Warmen 2006 outlined ‘’How the programme is delivered and the social climate that is established is highly significant and related to positive training outcomes’’. As well as attention to the group processes my role is also to model the skills and qualities that my teaching aims to develop in my learners. I aim to achieve this by praising and rewarding carers for their efforts and successes. This approach reflects BF Skinners operant conditioning approach of consequences or praise as a way of extinguishing undesired behaviours and promoting desired behaviour. I have therefore introduced the use of a reward chart within the group. As this is a programme whereby the use of praise, positive reinforcement and charts and incentives have been taught and implemented for the children in their care, I devised a chart for the final 6 sessions that I have engaged the learners in producing as a group. Paton and Education, 2008, reflected upon research completed by Ofsted highlighting "Rewards, such as opportunities to go on trips or to gain awards, were a powerful incentive for students who struggled with school. Rewards motivated the students to apply themselves more and to achieve better grades at GCSE level. In the process, the students also gained the satisfaction of making a valuable contribution to the community." I also reflect upon Psychology theorist Maslow in which he promotes the notion that humans transcend through a series of development and that within this I promote self-esteem and confidence that will hopefully lead to effective
