Hi, Vendelyn This is an excellent start with any client by doing a proper assessment also keep you as a case manager on the right track to meet the client’s needs. I always believed every case worker should listen carefully to client’s problems because this is the only way you will help solve the issues. Vendelyn, this is also a great system mention by the CASSP “Multi System” because sometimes you will need assistance from other resources while evaluating a client’s needs to progress. Great Post!

Hi, Andrea, this is an excellent point by helping children and their families with the basic needs in life which are probably one of the main concerns of most families. Andrea, this will help with families who are struggling from day
to day and don’t know what the future hold. Ethic and laws are critical because the last thing you would ever want to do as a case manager is violating a client value or rights. I believe being a case worker is an important and confidential job, and you should have enough pride not to disclose any client information. It is a challenge when working with different agencies and taking the right approach without giving too much information. Andrea, this is a great think to do find out how much info should be released and to what agency. Great Post! Rhonda HN 430 Hi, Tanya! The Blind Side was a very touching movie “The Blind Side” which showed that any child struggling with past family problem don’t have to remain that way. With the right love, attention, and guidance from a caring parent changes always can be made in a child life. Michael found a family that believed in his potential and did not give up on his career. It turned his life around with the right support system and other kids as you explained in the chronosystem. Great Post! Rhonda Hi, Amber this was a harsh life for a 16-year-old female dealing with so much abuse and neglect from someone who should instead be showing love and affection. Precious, experienced so many life changing moment from living in a low-income poverty area to learning she was infected. But her strength and willingness to succeed would not let her quit or give up on her dreams. Amber, I believe the welfare system is unfair in a lot of different areas that they should pay close attention and intervene the proper way when necessary. Great Post! Rhonda
We support them to develop and achieve their aims and objectives through involving them in the development of their care plans and in any decisions. We give the clients all the information they need to be able to make choices and support them through the referral process to enable them to get the appropriate information to make decisions.
This can be applied in various child care setting where the child’s basic needs can be met alongside making sure the child is being looked out for outside of the care setting by family or guardians as well as providing a loving environment they can make friends. Children’s self-esteem can be improved/boosted by giving them prizes and awards when they do something positive or achieve something.
Increasing capacity, audience and access by becoming a gathering place for families, establishing connections to communities within the County, and an increased commitment to access while increasing earned income.
This method is grounded in the strengths perspective, a perspective in which the worker center’s their sessions around the clients’ abilities, gifts, and strengths (Shulman, 2016). Instead of focusing on what is wrong with the client, the worker highlights what is right with the client building on their strengths instead of emphasizing their deficits: the client already has what they need to get better or solve their problem (Corcoran, 2008). The role of the worker in this model is to help the client recognize their potential, recognize what resources they already have, and discuss what is going well for the client and what they have been able to accomplish already (Shulman, 2016). Techniques commonly used in this model, although they are not exclusive to this model, include an emphasis on pre- and between-session change, exception questions, the miracle question, scaling questions, and coping questions (Shulman, 2016). These questions are used for many reasons: for example, the miracle question is used because “sometimes asking clients to envision a brighter future may help them be clearer on what they want or to see a path to problem-solving.” (Corcoran, 2008, p. 434) while coping questions are used to allow the client to see what they are already accomplishing, rather than what they are transgressing (Corcoran, 2008). food or the child can have memories for the rest of their life about how they lived in poverty.
...body to look up too. They also help them go somewhere in life and help them set up life long goals like to go to college and get a job and live a good life instead of fighting other people for dumb reasons. They could also make a difference in how people see their family by going to college because then people would respect them and their family members for having a successful child in their live. In conclusion i think that these organizations are very important because they help people in so many ways that people don’t see or understand how they help them.
Many people in the U.S. believe poverty is a major issue in other countries but fail to realize that there are high poverty rates at home as well. When looking at poverty there are many age groups that are affected at different levels, and one of the age groups that is dramatically impacted is children under the age of 18. This age group is specifically a sad one due to the fact that they cannot rely on themselves to get out of poverty. This results in many struggles for children and relying on programs and organizations for the help that they need. Although 21.1 percent of kids are ravaged by the struggles of poverty, many organizations are seeking to positively impact this issue through
My understanding of case management comes from an accumulation of lecture, readings, and a little bit of research. At first I thought case management meant to manage a case, which it kind of does, but it is a lot of background work that goes unnoticed from the workers part. One thing for sure I can say about case management is that is a very stressful and demanding job for the worker, therefore, you have to be a responsible worker, so that your client can hopefully get the services and resources he or she may need. As a case management worker your responsibilities are many, for example you are to educate, empower and enable your client to be self sufficient.
... higher incomes to support the program. Parents can use their health care plans to include their children till the age of 26 which solved similar problems to John’ son.
As a case manager we are “to coordinate needed services provided by any number of agencies, organizations, or facilities” (Kirst-Ashman & Hull, 2015, p. 31). Not only did she advocate for health services for Brenna but she also working on her housing issue, helped her set up a monthly food budget, helped her find counseling, and helped her build a support network (Kirst-Ashman & Hull, 2015, p. 32). By providing Brenna with all of these resources the case manager is building up her self-worth and showing her that even though she had some hard times she can survive and make better for herself and her
At Bread of Life we consider each child we take in to be a family member. Just like a family, we will walk with them into adulthood, providing Christ-centered guidance and counsel. We provide them with the opportunity to pursue higher education and job training. Our goal for each of our children is for them to become self-sufficient citizens who are able to make a positive difference in their community. We want to give our kids the resources to change the cycle of poverty in their family. We give them guidance on relationships, money management, and the opportunity to attend a local church with a solid-life giving church community. We want to empower and equip them to find their identity in Christ and to pursue their God-given
In order to help client to felt at ease, I attempted to establish a safe atmosphere for client to disclose his issues and also to develop a sense of trust between us by conveying a non-judgmental and non-critical attitude. I use open questions, to invite client to elaborate on information. At the beginning of the session, I manage to use open question to explore more about client issue. Client presenting problem will be financial
Many studies illustrate that high quality child care helps children who have been brought up in poverty to develop skills that enable better education, jobs and earnings (Adelman). It would help to reduce poverty if more parents would invest money `into high quality child care, because children would be able to learn the skills that they should know to get a good education. In an article entitled “9 Ways to Reduce Poverty,” Larry Adelman stated that “Investments in infrastructure—fixing old bridges, building mass transit, converting to clean energy sources—and investments in vital services such as schools, childcare and eldercare generate both public benefits and jobs.” Investments in the most important buildings and structures in a community would help to create job opportunities, which could benefit people who are in poverty by allowing them the opportunity to get a job. Poverty reduction would benefit the economy and the people who suffer from
The counseling session began with the introductions where I introduced myself as the counselor and later introduced my client. This stage is important in any counseling session since it is the time of exploration and focusing according to Gerard Egan as quoted by Wright (1998) in his essay on couselling skills. It is in this session that I was able to establish rapport and trust with my client in order to come up with a working and fruitful relationship with him. During this stage I made use of skills like questioning, where I would pose a question directly to my client, sometimes I would choose to just listen to what the client wanted to speak out while in some instances I would be forced to paraphrase the question if I felt the client did not understand the question I had asked previously. There were also other times when I would reflect through silence. During such a period, I got time to study the client and the information he had given. This being a difficult area, since some clients may not be able to volunteer information to you as the counselor, I decided to assure the client of confidentiality of any information he was willing to share with me with a few exceptions which I also told him about. Being open to him about the only times the information may not be confidential was part of my building rapport and establishing trust with him. I therefore, decided to ask the client what information he wanted to share with me and lucky enough he was ready to speak to me about different issues that he was going through.
Getting to know your client will only help you to better know how you can help them, and
